What affects the quote in Kimbridge

Your quote is based on your site. We take into account:

  • The size of the system
  • The condition we find in the survey
  • Working hours and out-of-hours timing
  • How many systems or sites are involved

What you pay depends on the size of the system, the condition it’s in and how easy it is to reach. We give you a fixed price before any work starts, so you know where you stand.

What to send for a quote

Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Send what you can of the following:

  • The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
  • Where the site is and what kind of site it is
  • Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
  • The times we could work without disrupting the site

If you need ductwork cleaning in Kimbridge, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email. Let us know the site type and the opening hours, and send pictures or your last report if you can. A fixed quote typically follows within one working day.

Ductwork cleaning in Kimbridge, done properly

Between the canopy and the fan runs the ductwork, hidden above ceilings and inside walls. Grease settles along every metre of it, and that’s where a kitchen fire can travel. We clean it from the inside, through access panels, to BESA TR19® Grease. The work covers vertical risers, bends and junctions and horizontal duct runs, and people most often call us about smells of old cooking grease from the ductwork and high readings at a recent grease test.

For a kitchen in or near Kimbridge, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean covers the whole system, as it would anywhere: canopy to discharge, then a TR19® certificate and a photo report.

The sign-off is always in writing: a written report, dated and illustrated with pictures, plus a certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal when the work is a TR19® Grease clean. Any parts we couldn’t reach are recorded on it too.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

If you look after several sites, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Each site gets its own report and photos, so each one has its own record.

Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Shared systems, like a riser serving several units, need a clear agreement on who books the work, and we can quote for the whole system.

Ductwork cleaning around Kimbridge

Food Standards Agency records include about 4 pubs, bars and clubs within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Kimbridge. Wherever they cook, the canopy, duct and fan collect grease just as a restaurant’s do. In Kimbridge, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Test Valley council. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked. Fire safety in Kimbridge falls to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract.

Bursars and site managers at schools such as Awbridge Primary School tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty. Kitchens that cook twelve hours or more a day, as some healthcare kitchens do, fall into BESA’s three-monthly minimum; Romsey Community Hospital is the nearest hospital to Kimbridge, about 3.3 miles south-east.

Kimbridge is about 3 miles north-west of Romsey, in Hampshire. Wherever you are in the SO51 postcode area, we cover ductwork cleaning for commercial sites. Across Hampshire, we cover 683 places, Kimbridge among them. For sites nearby, see our Southampton page (10 miles or so).

What happens on the day

We’re used to working while the site is closed. Evenings, nights and weekends are when much of our work happens, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. The visit itself takes anything from a few hours to several visits, depending on the length of duct. A few photos of the system help us make the most of a visit to a place like Kimbridge.

  1. Diagnosis: a survey of the duct’s route, size and access.
  2. A fixed quote follows, based on what we found.
  3. Each section is cleaned in turn through its access panel.
  4. Bends, risers and the base of each riser get extra attention.
  5. Readings, pictures and a recommended next clean date complete the job.

Before we arrive

  • Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
  • Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
  • Clear loose items from the work area

What we’re called out for in Kimbridge

Grease in a duct running from a kitchen in Kimbridge is as much a fire risk as in any building. Burning grease can carry fire through the ductwork to other rooms or floors, which is why the responsible person needs it under control.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Proof of duct cleaning for the insurer
  • Grease seeping out of the duct seams
  • Heavy grease at the base of a riser
  • Thick crusts of old grease along the duct

For kitchens close to Mottisfont & Dunbridge station, where the day often starts early and ends late, the extract can be cleaned overnight.

Before you book anyone

  • Whether the figure could change on the day
  • When they can work, and whether that’s outside your opening hours
  • How areas they can’t reach will be recorded
  • If they look at the system before pricing

Kimbridge questions

Can you get to a site in Kimbridge?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Kimbridge included. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Do you work overnight in Kimbridge?

Yes, we can come after you close and finish before you open. That way a site in Kimbridge does not have to lose a day’s trading. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.

How do you protect the area?

Protection goes down first: floor sheeting and covers over nearby surfaces and equipment. We tidy up and take our waste away before we leave.

What happens if you can’t reach some of it?

They’re listed in the report, never skipped quietly. You will know exactly which parts weren’t reached and why, and we can quote to improve the access.

Can you clean ductwork with no access panels?

Without a way in, a section cannot be cleaned properly. Those parts are listed, and we can install panels so they’re reached next time.

What’s TR19?

It’s BESA’s specification and the benchmark insurers, fire officers and EHOs look to. It covers how systems are inspected, cleaned and checked and expects a risk-based approach.

How much does ductwork cleaning cost in Kimbridge?

It depends on the site, so we quote each one individually. To get one, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and tell us about the site and its opening hours.

Are you insured?

Yes, fully. CHAS and SafeContractor accreditation sit alongside it for clients who vet their contractors.

What happens if it’s left?

There’s no law that names TR19. The Fire Safety Order 2005 makes the responsible person assess and reduce fire risk, including the grease inside the extract ductwork. It’s simpler to plan the work at Kimbridge now than to arrange it in a hurry later.

Every site is different, so each one gets its own fixed quote. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all make a difference.

How the job changes from site to site

Horizontal duct runs

Flat runs of duct link the canopy to the riser or the outside wall. They collect grease as the air cools and slows, so each section is cleaned through its access panels.

Access panels

Extra panels can be installed where there are gaps, making future cleans more complete. We will recommend where they should go.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but they do not reach the grease that builds up further in. That part needs specialist access and equipment.

Some jobs should never be done in-house: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease call for the right kit, training and safe access. Leave those to us.
