Dymchurch ductwork cleaning
Cleaning of kitchen extract ductwork, horizontal runs and vertical risers through access panels for commercial sites in Dymchurch and across Kent. BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease.
- A duct clean needed for an insurer
- Heavy grease at the base of a riser
- Duct runs that cannot be reached
Looking after it afterwards
How long the results last depends on use and care. We suggest:
- Make sure filters are seated properly
- Tell us if grease leaks from the ductwork
- Check readings when the menu changes
- Book the next clean before the recommended date
After the clean, the same points are tested again, so the report shows the before and after figures. Photos of each section go alongside them.
Watch for warning signs between cleans: grease leaking from duct joints, smells, or a fan that sounds rough. A grease thickness test can confirm whether a spot clean is needed.
How we handle ductwork cleaning in Dymchurch
The ductwork is where an extract clean is won or lost. Sections with no way in can go uncleaned for years. Each section we can reach is cleaned, and any we can’t is written down, so you know exactly where you stand. If you have years of grease along the duct floor and high readings at a recent grease test, we can put it right, from horizontal duct runs, bends and junctions and vertical risers onwards.
For a smaller kitchen near Dymchurch, a TR19® clean is the same job as anywhere: canopy, filters, plenum, duct, fan and discharge. The visit is booked around your opening hours, and the journey is planned ahead.
The report is your system’s health record: dated, with pictures, and showing what was done. For TR19® Grease cleans, the certificate comes through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal and sits alongside the report.

FAQs for Dymchurch
Can you work in Dymchurch outside opening hours?
Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. It means the site in Dymchurch keeps running as normal. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.
Will you come out to Dymchurch?
Yes, Dymchurch is part of our area, however small the site. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.
What types of premises do you cover?
Any site with a kitchen or a ventilation system to look after, from a single café to a large school. We work with hotels, schools, care homes, offices, retail and leisure sites.
Can we book visits on a schedule?
Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used and we will propose a schedule with a fixed quote.
How long does it take to clean extract ducts?
It takes anything from a few hours to several visits, depending on the length of duct. The survey tells us how long your duct needs.
What’s the cleaning interval for extract ductwork?
It follows the same interval as the whole extract, from every 3 months for heavy use to every 12 months for light use. Readings tell you if it needs to be more often.
What shows that the ducts need a clean?
Start with the date of the last clean. No record, or a passed date, means it’s due, and grease readings will confirm how urgent it is.
Can you come out in an emergency?
Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7, for problems that cannot wait. Ring any time and tell us what’s happened.
What your team can do, and what needs us
Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, and that’s where we come in.
For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.
Why act early in Dymchurch
BESA guidance says grease shouldn’t exceed a mean of 200 microns between cleans. Anywhere that reaches 500 microns or more needs immediate spot cleaning. Putting off the clean only pushes readings higher. Systems on quieter sites still build up dirt and wear, just more slowly.
Leaving it longer rarely makes the work cheaper. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, and a neglected system can mean more work. If you’re not sure what’s needed, call 0345 646 2711 or send us an email for straight advice and a fixed quote.

How the visit works
At the end of the visit, someone from your team can look over the work with us. Anything we couldn’t reach or that needs attention is pointed out there and then, and it goes on the report too. The visit takes from a few hours to more than one visit, depending on duct length and access. In a smaller place like Dymchurch, parking is rarely the issue, but tell us about gates, roof access and opening hours.
- The duct route is surveyed and every access point found.
- We take grease readings along the route.
- Out of hours, the area is protected and the access panels opened.
- Thick grease is scraped out, then the runs and risers are degreased.
- Panels are closed, readings and pictures repeated, and unreachable sections recorded.
Getting ready for the visit
- Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
- Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
- Move anything stored near the system
Ask for a quote
Getting a quote does not take long. Call or email with a few details and you’ll normally have a fixed price within one working day. Where a survey is needed, we arrange a time that suits the site.
Advice
Dymchurch kitchens: local notes
At about 1 mile from the coast, Dymchurch is close enough for sea air to matter. Corrosion on the fan housing and cowl is worth a look at every clean, alongside the grease. The Food Standards Agency lists about 7 pubs, bars and clubs as registered food businesses within about 1.5 miles of central Dymchurch. Wherever they cook, the canopy, duct and fan collect grease just as a restaurant’s do. Fire safety in Dymchurch falls to Kent Fire and Rescue Service. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises.
Bursars and site managers at schools such as Dymchurch Primary School tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty. Historic houses near Dymchurch, such as Westenhanger Castle about 4.5 miles north, are a reminder that older buildings with event kitchens can have long, awkward duct routes. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of St Peter and St Paul, or anywhere in Dymchurch, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.
Dymchurch is about 4 miles south-west of Hythe, in Kent. Bends and transitions
Grease tends to pile up at elbows. It’s scraped out and degreased, and readings are taken there before and after.
Horizontal duct runs
Grease settles on the floor of a flat duct run. We scrape out the heavy layer first, then the walls and roof are cleaned too.
Landlords, agents and facilities managers
We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we are happy to quote for all of it.
Facilities teams in offices, schools and healthcare sites book us too in Dymchurch and across Kent. Work can be phased by floor, building or site to keep disruption down.
What a clean will not put right
We will not sell you work that doesn’t address the problem, so these are the things it won’t cover:
- Ductwork that is corroded, split or holed (that needs a ductwork contractor)
- Sections that can’t be reached safely without new access (those are recorded, and panels can be fitted)
- A failed fan motor at the end of the duct (a fan repair job)
If you are not sure, just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we will give you a straight answer.
