Fixed quotes for ductwork cleaning in Dunk's Green

Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We check:

  • Parking and loading at the site
  • The times the site is available
  • What state the system is in
  • One-off work versus a regular cycle

Leaving it longer rarely makes the work cheaper. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, and a neglected system can mean more work. If you are not sure what’s needed, ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll give you an honest view and a fixed quote.

What to send for a quote

You don’t need the technical terms. It helps if you can send:

  • How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
  • Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
  • The times we could work without disrupting the site
  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it

Some systems can be priced from pictures; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.

How we handle ductwork cleaning in Dunk's Green

Once air leaves the canopy, it travels through ductwork that most people never see. Every horizontal run and vertical riser collects grease along the way and a fire in the duct can spread through the building. Our ductwork cleaning reaches inside the runs and risers through access panels, to BESA TR19® Grease. The work covers bends and junctions, attenuators and horizontal duct runs, and the jobs we see most are grease pooling at the foot of the riser and grease seeping out of the duct seams.

Somewhere as small as Dunk's Green, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease.

A written report with pictures follows every visit, so you have a record of what was done and when. Kitchen extract cleaning to TR19® Grease is certificated through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

Keeping the system healthy

Good habits slow the build-up between visits. Our tips:

  • Keep to the interval on the report
  • Ask us about extra access panels where sections can’t be reached
  • Make sure filters are seated properly
  • Keep your cleaning records together

Keep the certificate and report with the fire risk assessment. It’s the evidence an insurer or inspector may ask for, and the pictures make the duct’s condition easy to see.

Extra access panels mean more of the duct gets cleaned each time. Grease you can reach is grease that gets removed.

Grease, kitchens and Dunk's Green

Fire safety in Dunk's Green falls to Kent Fire and Rescue Service. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract. We cover Dunk's Green, about 24 miles from central London, as part of our work across London and the South East. The visit is fixed around your opening hours, not ours.

If your kitchen is in a listed or historic building, like the houses around Dunk's Green (Old Soar Manor is about 0.9 miles north-east), fitting access panels needs care. If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Tonbridge Cottage Hospital about 5.3 miles south, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen.

Dunk's Green is about 4 miles north of Tonbridge, in Kent. Whether your site is in the middle of Dunk's Green or further out, ductwork cleaning is available to all kinds of commercial premises, from small sites to large estates. Dunk's Green is one of 922 places in Kent where we work for commercial clients. There’s also a page for Maidstone, roughly 10 miles from Dunk's Green.

Different parts, different methods

Attenuators and discharge

At the end of the duct is the discharge. Grease can collect there and stain the area around it, so it’s cleaned as far as safe access allows.

Access panels

Extra panels can be installed where there are gaps, so the next clean reaches more of the system. The survey shows where they’re needed.

How the visit works

Before we leave, we walk the area with whoever is on site. Anything we couldn’t reach or that needs attention is pointed out there and then, and it goes on the report too. The visit takes a shift or more, depending on the length of the runs and the number of access points. Photos of the system and how to reach it help us plan a visit to Dunk's Green.

  1. First we diagnose: the route, the access and the grease levels.
  2. You get a fixed price before work starts.
  3. We clean section by section, working from panel to panel.
  4. We take extra care at bends and at the foot of risers.
  5. The duct is signed off with readings, photos and a next clean date.

How to prepare

  • Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
  • Clear the space around the work
  • Have your last certificate or report to hand

Getting a quote

Photos are the quickest way to a quote: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.

What we’re called out for in Dunk's Green

A greasy duct is a fire path, in Dunk's Green as anywhere. Burning grease can carry fire through the ductwork to other rooms or floors, which is why the responsible person needs it under control.

If you notice any of these, it’s worth a diagnosis:

  • Stale grease odours from the duct
  • Grease leaking from duct joints
  • Thick deposits at the bottom of a vertical duct
  • Readings above 200 microns from a grease thickness test

Church and community hall kitchens, near Plaxtol Church or anywhere around Dunk's Green, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other.

Comparing quotes

  • Proof of insurance
  • Whether the work can be done while the site is closed
  • Whether they recommend a next date
  • Whether a survey comes first

How to choose an extract cleaning contractor

What happens if it’s left?

TR19® isn’t law, but the duty to manage fire risk is. The Fire Safety Order 2005 makes the responsible person assess and reduce fire risk, and grease in the duct is part of that. It’s worth booking a check, because nobody sees inside a duct day to day.

A single site or a whole portfolio, the quote is built the same way: what needs doing, how we get to it and when. The price is fixed before any work starts.

What you get with us

  • We diagnose before we treat
  • CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, with ISO 9001
  • Work around your opening hours, with 24/7 emergency cover
  • Trading since 2009

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. That part needs specialist access and equipment.

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but the parts you can’t see still need a specialist at the right interval.

Questions from Dunk's Green

Which fire service covers Dunk's Green?

Fire safety enforcement in Dunk's Green is handled by Kent Fire and Rescue Service. Records of extract cleaning are a sensible thing to have ready if a fire safety officer carries out an audit.

Who carries out food hygiene inspections in Dunk's Green?

The local authority for Dunk's Green is Tonbridge and Malling council, and its environmental health team does the inspecting. Ratings are published by the Food Standards Agency, so a clean extract and good records are worth keeping up.

Which kinds of sites do you work on?

Commercial premises of every kind: from restaurants, pubs and hotels to schools, hospitals, care homes, offices, shops and food production sites. We fit the work around how the site operates.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Some pictures and a quick description of the system plus the address and your hours. If we need more, we will ask.

How do you protect the area?

We cover floors and nearby surfaces with sheeting before work begins, and waste is contained as we go. Before we leave, we tidy up and clean down.

Will I get a report after the ducts are cleaned?

A full system clean comes with a TR19 certificate and a photo report. The report shows readings, pictures and any sections we couldn’t reach.

What if part of the duct cannot be reached?

We clean everything we can reach and record what we cannot. Fitting extra access panels is the usual answer, and we can do that for you.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. We carry full insurance and have been trading since 2009.
