Ductwork cleaning in Brook
No two duct runs are the same, in Brook or anywhere else. Some run a short distance to an outside wall, others climb several floors to the roof. We map the route during the survey, so we know where to get in and how long it will take. The work covers multi-storey ducts, access panels and bends and junctions, and the jobs we see most are thick deposits at the bottom of a vertical duct and sections of duct with no access panels.
For a kitchen in or near Brook, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean itself is the same full TR19® job as in any town: canopy to discharge, then a TR19® certificate and a photo report.
Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured.

What we do, step by step
Your staff do not need to do much on the day. Someone lets us in at the agreed time and shows us where everything is, and we take it from there. Afterwards, the area is left tidy and the written report follows. Seeing the system in pictures first means the trip to Brook can be planned properly.
- Diagnosis: a survey of the duct’s route, size and access.
- You get a fixed price before work starts.
- Each section is cleaned in turn through its access panel.
- We take extra care at bends and at the foot of risers.
- Readings, photos and a recommended next clean date complete the job.
Before we arrive
- Clear the space around the work
- Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
- Arrange a key holder or contact on site
Getting a quote
Quoting starts with a diagnosis, either from photos and details you send or from a site visit. Then we send a fixed price so you know the cost before any work starts.

Part by part
Vertical risers
In taller buildings, a riser may pass through several floors and fire compartments, where fire dampers may be fitted. Damper testing is a separate service.
Bends and transitions
The join where the canopy meets the duct is a common hotspot. We clean it from the canopy side or through a nearby panel.
Ductwork cleaning in Brook: the local picture
The fire and rescue service for Brook is Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. The Fire Safety Order puts the duty on whoever runs a kitchen to control its fire risk, and a greasy duct is fuel. In Brook, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Waverley council. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. Keeping each certificate and photo report on file helps show the extract is looked after.
School kitchens, at schools like King Edward's School Witley for example, are typically cleaned in the holidays so no lunches are lost. If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Milford Hospital about 3 miles north-east, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen.

What affects the quote in Brook
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:
- Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
- The size of the system
- The condition of the system
- When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
You will not find a price list here, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed quote, and we will talk you through it.
Helping us quote
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. With your enquiry, please include:
- The site address and the type of premises
- Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
- Wide pictures of the system and the area around it
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
To get a fixed quote, call 0345 646 2711 or email us and tell us the type of site, your opening hours and roughly what the system looks like. Photos and the last report, if you have one, make the quote quicker. You’ll usually have a quote within one working day.
What ductwork cleaning cannot fix
Not every problem is solved by ductwork cleaning, and we’d rather say so up front. It does not solve:
- Fire dampers that do not close (they need testing and remedials)
- Leaking duct joints that need repair
- Undersized or badly laid-out ducts
If in doubt, call us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we’ll say what we think.
What the work covers
- Vertical risers
- Multi-storey ducts
- Horizontal duct runs
- Bends and junctions
- Access panels
- Attenuators
Looking after it afterwards
Good habits slow the build-up between visits. Our tips:
- Leave a way through to the access panels
- Ask for a grease thickness test if the kitchen gets busier
- Never cook with a filter missing
- Flag drips from the duct straight away
Access panels are closed and sealed back up after cleaning, and the surrounding area is left clean. Waste grease and water are taken away.
The less grease gets past the canopy, the cleaner the duct stays. Keep the filters clean, well fitted and in place whenever you cook.
Staff cleaning versus specialist work
When your team notices a problem between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We can diagnose it and quote.
Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.
Why it’s worth doing now in Brook
Fire inside a duct is out of sight and out of reach. The duct can carry it to rooms, floors or roof spaces well away from the kitchen, which is why the duct matters as much as the canopy. It’s simpler to plan the work at Brook now than to arrange it in a hurry later.
What you pay depends on the size of the system, what state it’s in and how easy it is to reach. We give you a fixed price before any work starts, so you know where you stand.

Brook: your questions answered
Which fire service covers Brook?
That is Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. If a fire safety officer visits a commercial kitchen, they may ask about the fire risk assessment and how the extract is kept clean.
Can the work in Brook be done at night or at weekends?
Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. Your customers, staff or residents in Brook needn’t be disturbed. Just phone us on 0345 646 2711 or email us with your opening times and we will plan around them.
What is TR19?
TR19® is BESA’s specification for ventilation hygiene. Since 2019, TR19® Grease has been a standalone specification for grease in kitchen extract systems, while TR19® Air covers other supply and extract ductwork.
Who is responsible for fire safety on the premises?
In the words of the Fire Safety Order 2005, it’s the responsible person. It’s normally the employer, or whoever controls the building, and where several people have control, each can have duties. Your lease and fire risk assessment should make it clear.
Can we book visits on a schedule?
Yes. Scheduled maintenance plans are part of what we do, with visits at the interval your system needs. Each report recommends when the next visit should be.
What happens if there aren’t enough access panels?
Without a way in, a section can’t be cleaned properly. We record those sections on the report and can fit access panels.
Is TR19 a legal requirement?
Not in itself. TR19® is the benchmark insurers, fire officers and EHOs check against, and many insurance policies ask for proof of TR19® cleaning. The law behind it is the Fire Safety Order 2005, which applies in England and Wales.
Where does the waste go?
Waste is contained during the work and removed when we leave, including grease, debris and dirty water. None of it is left on site.
