Ductwork cleaning in Ash
We’ve been trading since 2009, working across London and the South East. We are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and our certificates are issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. Common call-outs are for fat dripping from the ductwork and sections of duct with no access panels, on bends and junctions, multi-storey ducts and vertical risers.
For a kitchen in or near Ash, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean covers the whole system, as it would anywhere: canopy to discharge, then a TR19® certificate and a photo report.
Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured. We are also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we have been trading since 2009.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?
Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.
Staff cleaning and specialist work are not the same thing. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.
What we do, step by step
At the end of the visit, someone from your team can look over the work with us. We point out anything that couldn’t be reached or needs a follow-up, and the same goes into the written report. All told, the work takes a few hours for a short run, longer for long runs and tall risers. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in Ash before we set off.
- First we diagnose: the route, the access and the grease levels.
- A fixed quote follows, based on what we found.
- Each section is cleaned in turn through its access panel.
- We take extra care at bends and at the foot of risers.
- Readings, pictures and a recommended next clean date complete the job.
Before we arrive
- Find the previous report, if there is one
- Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
Ask for a quote
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in photos, get a survey first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work starts.
Advice
What a clean won’t put right
We’d rather tell you now than book work that will not help, so here are the limits:
- An extract fan that has stopped working
- A duct that is too small or badly routed for the kitchen (a design issue)
- Sections that can’t be reached safely without new access (those are recorded, and panels can be fitted)
Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Why act early in Ash
Booking the duct clean in Ash now keeps it a planned job. It takes a shift or more, depending on the length of the runs and the number of access points, and we work evenings, overnight and weekends. Systems in rural buildings are often out of sight and out of mind.
The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why every job is surveyed first, and the price is agreed before any work starts.

Aftercare tips
No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. A few tips:
- Leave a way through to the access panels
- Make sure filters are seated properly
- Keep the fan on while anything is cooking
- Flag drips from the duct straight away
After the clean, the same points are tested again, so the report shows the before and after figures. Before and after pictures sit next to the numbers.
Book the next duct clean before the date passes. If the kitchen starts cooking longer hours, the interval may need to shorten, and grease thickness testing will show it.
Other services in Ash
Multi-site and managed buildings
Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We cover South East England and London, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept on a regular cycle.
Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Each visit produces a dated report with photos, ready to show insurers, fire officers or EHOs.
Grease, kitchens and Ash
The FSA’s data shows about 3 pubs, bars and clubs registered across Ash and its immediate surroundings (about a mile and a half). Any of them serving cooked food has an extract to keep clean, from canopy to discharge. Kitchens in Ash get their food hygiene inspections from Sevenoaks council. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked. Ash sits within the area of Kent Fire and Rescue Service. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract.
Church and community hall kitchens, near Parish Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul or anywhere around Ash, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other. School kitchens, at schools like New Ash Green Primary School for example, are usually cleaned in the holidays so no lunches are lost.

Common questions in Ash
Which environmental health team covers Ash?
That’s Sevenoaks council, whose environmental health officers carry out food hygiene inspections in Ash. How often a business is inspected depends on the risk rating the council gives it, so it’s worth staying ready all year.
Can a school canteen extract in Ash be done out of term time?
Yes, and it’s the easiest time to do it. Food Standards Agency records list about 4 schools, colleges and universities with registered kitchens within about a mile and a half of Ash. Send us your term dates when you ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos, and we will fit the work in.
How much notice do you need?
The more notice, the better, particularly for night and weekend visits. We normally quote within one working day, and there’s a 24/7 line for emergencies.
What do you do with what you remove?
It leaves the site with us at the end of the visit. During the work, it’s contained so the area stays clean.
Do you install duct access panels?
Yes, we fit access panels where the duct needs them. It means more of the duct can be cleaned next time, and the report will show where they’re needed.
Do I get a certificate for ductwork cleaning?
Every clean comes with a photo report, plus a TR19 certificate when the whole system is cleaned. File them with the fire risk assessment.
How is kitchen extract ductwork cleaned?
After a survey and grease readings, the duct is opened up through its access panels. Each run and riser is scraped and degreased, then the readings are repeated.
Do you survey before quoting?
Yes, every time. Diagnosis comes before treatment: the survey tells us what the system needs and how to reach it and the fixed quote is built on it.
Do you need ductwork cleaning in Ash?
Grease in a duct running from a kitchen in Ash is as much a fire risk as in any building. Once it lights, fire can spread along the duct and into other areas, which is why the responsible person needs it under control.
Most sites get in touch when they notice something like this:
- Thick deposits at the bottom of a vertical duct
- Stale grease odours from the duct
- Readings above 200 microns from a grease thickness test
- Grease leaking from duct joints
Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Darent Valley Hospital (about 5.6 miles north), often cook for long hours, which puts them in BESA’s heavier-use bands.
