We have been cleaning kitchen canopies since we started trading in 2009. As a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, we treat the canopy as one part of a whole system, and we’re fully insured, with CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. If you have grease filters blocking between washes and overflowing grease troughs and gutters, we can help.

For a kitchen in or near Upper Froyle, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean covers the whole system, as it would anywhere: canopy to discharge, then a TR19® certificate and a photo report.

Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured. We’re also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

When something else is needed

A few issues sit outside what this work can do:

  • Grease in the duct runs and risers behind the canopy
  • Faulty canopy lights or wiring (a job for an electrician)
  • Bent or broken filters

If you are not sure, just call us on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

What we work on in Upper Froyle

  • Canopy light fittings
  • Island canopies

  • Wall canopies
  • Grease gutters

Part by part

Grease troughs and gutters

Many canopies have troughs or gutters around the edge to catch running grease. We empty and degrease them, so they can do their job again.

Wall canopies

Long wall canopies often have several filter banks. We work along the canopy section by section, with pictures for each.

What affects the cost of canopy cleaning

Every site gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • What state the system is in
  • The scale of the work
  • Travel, parking and unloading
  • Site requirements such as sign-in and permits

You will not find a price list here, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed quote, and we’ll talk you through it.

What to send for a quote

To speed up the quote, please include:

  • Where the site is and what kind of site it is
  • The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
  • Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it

Grease, kitchens and Upper Froyle

Upper Froyle is covered by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises. About 42 miles out from central London, Upper Froyle is part of the South East area we work across. Visits are booked around your hours, evenings and weekends included.

Church and community hall kitchens, near Church of St Mary of the Assumption or anywhere around Upper Froyle, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other. For schools such as Eggar's School, kitchen extract cleaning is usually booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed. Healthcare kitchens cannot easily close, so their extracts are cleaned overnight or between meal services; the nearest hospital to Upper Froyle is Alton Community Hospital, about 4 miles south-west.

Upper Froyle is about 3 miles north-east of Alton, in Hampshire. Sites in Upper Froyle get the same service as everywhere we cover: a survey first, a fixed quote, work timed around your hours and a report with photos. Our Hampshire coverage runs to 683 places, Upper Froyle among them. There’s also a page for Guildford, about 16 miles away.

Our technicians cover all of the GU34 postcode area for canopy cleaning and the streets around it. That includes premises on Burnham Square and Oast Lane and nearby roads. Neighbouring places we cover for canopy cleaning include Froyle (1 mile north-east), Lower Froyle (1 mile north-east), Neatham (1 mile south-west), Holybourne (2 miles south-west) and Wyck (2 miles south). Further out, we also cover Basingstoke (10 miles north-west), Farnborough (10 miles north-east), Fleet (8 miles north-east), Aldershot (8 miles north-east), Alton (3 miles south-west) and Petersfield (12 miles south).

Near you in Upper Froyle

Typical jobs here are in premises near Hen And Chicken Public House, among other places. The nearest railway station is Bentley (Hampshire) station, roughly 2.3 miles east. Nearby you will also find Allen Gallery (3 miles south-west) and Barley Pound (3.6 miles north-east). Not far away are Holybourne Hill.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.

Some jobs should never be done in-house: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings need training, the right equipment and safe access. That’s our job.

Common questions in Upper Froyle

Which fire service covers Upper Froyle?

It’s Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, which covers Upper Froyle. A recent cleaning certificate and a note of the next clean date show that grease in the extract is being managed.

Who inspects food businesses in Upper Froyle?

The local authority for Upper Froyle is East Hampshire council, and its environmental health team does the inspecting. How often a business is inspected depends on the risk rating the council gives it, so it’s worth staying ready all year.

Is TR19 a legal requirement?

No. The law sets the duty; TR19® is the benchmark used to show it’s met. Under the Fire Safety Order 2005, the responsible person must reduce fire risk, and many insurers can refuse or reduce a claim without proof of cleaning.

Why does grease run off the canopy edge?

Full gutters and a heavily coated plenum are the common causes. Grease has nowhere else to go, so it runs down and drips, and condensation can carry it too. A canopy clean sorts it out.

Will we have to shut during the visit?

Not usually. The area we’re working in has to be out of use while we are there, so the visit goes in a quiet slot.

Can you set up regular visits?

Yes. Regular plans can run on 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycles, depending on what the system needs.

Which canopies and hoods do you clean?

Single hoods, long wall canopies and island canopies alike. The survey tells us how best to clean yours, from pictures or a visit.

Is canopy cleaning enough for TR19?

Canopy cleaning is part of TR19, not the whole of it. Your report lists exactly what was cleaned, so your records stay accurate.

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple, and it makes the next visit easier:

  • Keep the fan on through service
  • Never run the range with a filter out
  • Wipe the canopy down at close every day
  • Wash or exchange the filters on a regular cycle

Where the canopy is cleaned as part of a full TR19® Grease clean, a TR19 certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. If the job covers only the canopy, the paperwork reflects that.

Run the extract for as long as anything is cooking. Air that keeps moving carries less grease onto the canopy.

How it works

Protection comes first: sheeting goes over floors and surfaces close to the work. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. The work on site takes a few hours, depending on the size of the canopy and how much grease has built up, and we clear up before we go. If you can send pictures, we can arrive in Upper Froyle knowing what to expect.

  1. We look at the canopy, filters and troughs first.
  2. Once the kitchen has closed, the cooking line is cooled and sheeted.
  3. We lift out the filters and scrape the plenum and housing.
  4. Inside and out, the hood and its troughs are cleaned.
  5. We put the filters back, tidy up and photograph the finished canopy.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
  • Have your last certificate or report to hand

Managing agents and facilities teams in Upper Froyle

Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Each visit ends with a dated report and pictures, ready to show insurers, fire officers or EHOs.

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, which may be the employer, owner, landlord, FM or managing agent. Where responsibility is shared, records matter even more.
