Postcombe canopy cleaning

Our technicians work in Postcombe on deep cleaning of kitchen canopies, hoods, plenums and grease filters, inside and out. Out-of-hours visits, a fixed quote and a written report with pictures as standard.

  • Condensation and grease dripping together
  • Drips from the canopy onto the range
  • A plenum thick with grease behind the filters

Need canopy cleaning in Postcombe?

What your team can do, and what needs us

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that’s where we come in.

About our canopy cleaning in Postcombe

A greasy canopy tells an inspector a lot before they’ve opened anything. What isn’t seen, behind the filters, tends to be worse. We clean both, so the canopy is clean where it shows and where it doesn’t. The work covers plenum chambers, island canopies and wall canopies, and people most often call us about poor capture at the hood and a sticky, discoloured canopy.

Somewhere as small as Postcombe, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Every one of them still needs its extract kept clear of grease, whatever the size of the place.

Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a written report, dated and illustrated with pictures, plus a certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal when the work is a TR19® Grease clean. It shows what was done and what, if anything, couldn’t be reached.

What happens if it’s left?

A canopy clean in Postcombe now stops the grease spreading further. It takes a few hours, depending on the size of the canopy and how much grease has built up, out of hours so service carries on. Left alone, grease keeps moving into the plenum and duct. If the system at a site near Postcombe fails, there may be nowhere nearby to move to.

When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is can all change the price. We take each of them into account, and the price is fixed before we start.

What canopy cleaning looks like in Postcombe

Postcombe is covered by Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk. Postcombe is about 40 miles from central London, well within the area we cover across London and the South East. A survey and a fixed quote come first, then the visit at a time that suits you.

If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Thame Community Hospital about 3.8 miles north, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen. Church and community hall kitchens, near Church of St Mary or anywhere around Postcombe, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other. Older buildings often hide long, awkward duct runs, and if you run a kitchen at a historic venue in the area (Adwell House is about 0.8 miles west), access may need planning.

Postcombe is about 4 miles south of Thame, in Oxfordshire. From the centre of Postcombe to the outskirts, we cover canopy cleaning for every kind of premises, from small sites to large estates. 443 places in Oxfordshire are on our list, from busy centres to quieter spots. Our Oxford page covers sites nearby, about 12 miles away.

Our technicians cover all of OX9 for canopy cleaning and the streets around it. You will find streets such as London Road, Salt Lane and Beech Farm Close, all of which we cover for canopy cleaning. Other places close to Postcombe include South Weston (1 mile south-west), Aston Rowant (1 mile east), Lewknor (1 mile south), Kingston Blount (2 miles east) and Crowell (2 miles east). Larger places within reach include Oxford (12 miles west), Didcot (13 miles south-west), Abingdon-on-Thames (13 miles west), Thame (4 miles north), Henley-on-Thames (11 miles south) and Benson (7 miles south-west).

What the work involves, part by part

Plenums and filter housings

The rails and channels that hold the filters collect grease. We clean them so the filters sit tight and leave no gaps.

Island canopies

An island canopy is open on all sides, so every face can collect grease. We clean all of them, inside and out.

The process

The visit has three parts: set-up, the treatment itself and the sign-off. Set-up means sheeting and making equipment safe, while signing off means the written report and pictures. Most of the time goes on the work itself, which takes part of a shift for most kitchens, more where there are several canopies or heavy deposits. The timing of a visit to Postcombe is set by you, and the travel is our side of the planning.

  1. We look at the canopy first, from photos or on a visit.
  2. The range is turned off and allowed to cool before we cover it.
  3. We remove the grease filters and clean the plenum and filter housing.
  4. Inside and out, the canopy and its grease channels are degreased.
  5. We refit the filters, clear up and photograph the finished canopy.

Before we arrive

  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
  • Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool

Ask for a quote

Quotes are quick. Send a few details and photos, and we typically reply with a fixed quote within one working day. If we need to see the system first, we book a survey around your hours.

Advice

Questions from Postcombe

Can you get to a site in Postcombe?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Postcombe included. A survey first, from photos or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.

Can the work in Postcombe be done at night or at weekends?

Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. That way a site in Postcombe doesn’t have to lose a day’s trading. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.

Which accreditations do you hold?

CHAS, SafeContractor, ISO 9001 and BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We’ve been trading since 2009 and we are fully insured.

Why is my canopy dripping grease?

A full trough, gaps around the filters or a coated plenum. We clean all three and point out anything that is causing it.

What do you do with what you remove?

We take it away when we go. While we work, it’s kept contained so the area stays clean.

What is TR19?

A BESA specification in two main parts: TR19® Grease for kitchen extract systems and TR19® Air for general ventilation. It isn’t legislation, but it’s the standard people check against.

Do you clean the grease filters as part of a canopy clean?

We take them out, clean them and put them back. Between cleans, a filter exchange service can keep them in good order.

How long is a canopy clean?

A single canopy with a light build-up is fairly quick, but large or heavily soiled canopies take longer. We’ll tell you what to expect.

What affects the cost of canopy cleaning

There’s no set price list, because no two systems are the same. What we look at:

  • One-off work versus a regular cycle
  • Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
  • The condition we find in the survey
  • The size of the system

You will not find a price list here, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed quote, and we will talk you through it.

What we need to know

You do not need the technical terms. It helps if you can send:

  • Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
  • The times we could work without disrupting the site

Here’s what helps us quote: the address, the type of site and when it’s open, photos of the system and any previous report or certificate. Then give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos.

Multi-site and managed buildings

The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty to manage fire risk on the responsible person, which may be the employer, owner, landlord, FM or managing agent. With shared responsibility, good records help everyone.

Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Shared systems, like a riser serving several units, need a clear agreement on who books the work, and we can quote for the whole system.

When it’s something else

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Poor airflow from a fan that needs repair
  • A hood that doesn’t cover the cooking line
  • Bent or broken filters

If you are not sure, just call us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
