Canopy cleaning in Keeper's Corner, done properly

Has the canopy started to drip or look neglected? A photo of the canopy and filters is a good start when you call us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form, and we will give you a fixed quote for canopy cleaning, typically within one working day. The work covers baffle filters, canopy light fittings and wall canopies, and the jobs we see most are a sticky, discoloured canopy and condensation running down the canopy.

For a kitchen in or near Keeper's Corner, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean itself is the same full TR19® job as in any town: canopy to discharge, then a TR19® certificate and a photo report.

Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a dated report with pictures of the work, plus a certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal when the work is a TR19® Grease clean. It shows what was done and what, if anything, couldn’t be reached.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.

A few tasks are always specialist work: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease call for the right kit, training and safe access. That is our job.

What the work involves, part by part

Wall canopies

Long wall canopies often have several filter banks. We work along the canopy section by section, with photos for each.

Grease troughs and gutters

A blocked or full trough is the usual cause of grease dripping from the canopy. We clean it out so the grease has somewhere to go.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Keeper's Corner

Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We work across London and the South East, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept on a regular cycle.

From a single site to a large estate, you get the same standard: the system surveyed, the price fixed, the visit fitted around trading and everything written up afterwards.

Keeper's Corner questions

Is Keeper's Corner within the area you cover?

Yes, we work in villages as well as towns, and Keeper's Corner is covered. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.

Which fire service covers Keeper's Corner?

Fire safety enforcement in Keeper's Corner is handled by Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. If a fire safety officer visits a commercial kitchen, they may ask about the fire risk assessment and how the extract is kept clean.

What do you need from me for a quote?

A short description and a few photos, with the address and opening hours. If we need more, we’ll ask.

Where does the waste go?

We take it away when we go. During the work, it’s contained to keep the area clean.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. Full insurance covers our work and have been trading since 2009.

Is TR19 cleaning required by law?

No. The law sets the duty, and TR19® is the recognised benchmark for meeting it. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person has to manage fire risk, and many insurers can refuse or reduce a claim without proof of cleaning.

Do we need to close while you work?

Not typically. Visits are timed for when the area is closed, such as overnight or at a weekend, so you keep your normal hours.

How long will it take to clean the canopy?

It takes an hour or two for one small canopy, longer where there are several. Your quote will give a time.

What affects the cost of canopy cleaning

Every site gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • The condition of the system
  • Site rules, permits and inductions
  • When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends

You won’t find a price list here, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. For a fixed quote, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form, and we will talk you through it.

Asking for a quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in touch, it helps to send:

  • Your last certificate, test record or report
  • Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
  • Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
  • Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles

Getting a quote doesn’t take long. Call or email with a few details and you will usually have a fixed price within one working day. Where a survey is needed, we arrange a time that suits the site.

When to call us in Keeper's Corner

However carefully a kitchen in Keeper's Corner is run, the canopy still collects grease. That grease is fuel sitting right above the heat, so a flare-up near a greasy hood can quickly become a fire.

Most sites get in touch when they notice something like this:

  • Overflowing grease troughs and gutters
  • Greasy streaks across the canopy
  • A filter housing caked in grease
  • A canopy that no longer draws the smoke away

If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as Copthorne CofE Junior School or anywhere near Keeper's Corner, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether the quote shows VAT
  • What hours they’ll be on site
  • What’s included in the scope, part by part
  • How areas they can’t reach will be recorded

Our hiring checklist

When something else is needed

Not every problem is solved by canopy cleaning, and we’d rather say so up front. It doesn’t solve:

  • Grease filters too damaged to refit (they need replacing)
  • Poor airflow from a fan that needs repair
  • Ductwork and fans beyond the canopy (those need a full TR19 clean)

Not sure which it is? You can phone us on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

What the work covers

  • Baffle filters
  • Plenum chambers
  • Island canopies
  • Canopy light fittings
  • Grease gutters
  • Wall canopies

The process

Your trading hours come first. We book the visit for a time the area is closed, whether that is an evening, overnight or a weekend. Once we are in, the area is sheeted and anything that has to be off is turned off and cooled, and the job takes a few hours for most canopies. We agree a date with you, plan the drive to Keeper's Corner and turn up when the site is quiet.

  1. We look at the canopy, filters and troughs first.
  2. Out of hours, the range is switched off, cooled and covered.
  3. We lift out the filters and scrape the plenum and housing.
  4. The canopy shell, seams, troughs and gutters are degreased inside and out.
  5. Filters are refitted, the area cleaned down and the photo report put together.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Arrange a key holder or contact on site
  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
  • Clear loose items from the work area
