Canopy cleaning in Grove, done properly
Grease troughs, seams and the inside edge of the canopy are the spots a daily wipe misses. We scrape the heavy deposits, then degrease the surfaces with methods that suit the build-up, using hot water or steam where it helps. If you have a plenum thick with grease behind the filters and grease filters blocking between washes, we can put it right, from baffle filters, plenum chambers and canopy light fittings onwards.
Size does not change the work: a kitchen in a place like Grove gets the whole system cleaned, canopy to discharge. The visit is booked around your opening hours, and the journey is planned ahead.
Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

Why deal with it now?
A blocked plenum and clogged filters cut the airflow at the canopy. The kitchen gets hotter and smokier while the fan strains. Cleaning restores the path the air should take. Around Grove, a kitchen or building out of action is missed right away.
The cost depends on how big the system is, the condition it’s in and how easy it is to reach. You get a fixed price before work begins, so you know where you stand.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, which may be the employer, owner, landlord, FM or managing agent. With shared responsibility, good records help everyone.
We regularly work with managing agents. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.
In-house cleaning or a specialist?
Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.
A few tasks are always specialist work: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings need training, the right equipment and safe access. Leave those to us.
Aftercare tips
A little care between visits keeps the system in better shape. Our advice:
- Check filters aren’t leaving gaps
- Avoid harsh scourers that scratch the canopy
- Empty the grease troughs before they fill
- Never run the range with a filter out
A full system clean comes with a TR19 certificate from the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. Where only the canopy is done, the report says so clearly.
Keep the fan running throughout service and for a short while after. Turning the fan off early lets vapour settle on the hood.

FAQs for Grove
Will you come out to Grove?
Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Grove included. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Which fire and rescue service is responsible for Grove?
Fire safety enforcement in Grove is handled by Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service. It’s worth keeping your fire risk assessment, TR19® certificates and photo reports together, ready to show.
Why does grease run off the canopy edge?
A canopy only holds so much grease. Once the troughs and plenum are full, it runs down and drips, often mixed with condensation. Cleaning removes the cause.
Do you clean inside the canopy as well as outside?
The whole canopy, inside and out. The plenum behind the filters is included, since that is where grease hides.
Who has the legal duty for fire safety?
That depends on who controls the premises. The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty on the responsible person, which can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, an FM or a managing agent.
How far ahead should we book?
It depends on the time you need and how big the job is. Mention your preferred dates with your enquiry, and if it’s an emergency, call us any time.
What do you need from me for a quote?
A short description and a few photos plus the address and your hours. If we need more, we’ll ask.
Do you clean canopies in all kinds of kitchens?
Single hoods, long wall canopies and island canopies alike. The survey tells us how best to clean yours, from photos or a visit.
Part by part
Wall canopies
A wall-mounted canopy runs along the back of the range. Grease often collects where the canopy meets the wall, and we clean that join along with the inside of the hood.
Pub and hotel kitchens
Few pubs and hotels can shut the kitchen for a day. Canopy cleans are done late at night or early in the morning so the kitchen keeps trading.
Grove kitchens: local notes
According to Food Standards Agency records, there are about 8 pubs and bars within about 1.5 miles of central Grove. Where they serve hot food, their kitchen extracts need cleaning to TR19® like any restaurant’s. Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service covers Grove. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk. Environmental health officers from Vale of White Horse council inspect food businesses in Grove. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. Before-and-after photos from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand.
Bursars and site managers at schools such as Millbrook Primary School tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty. Church and community hall kitchens, near St. John the Baptist or anywhere around Grove, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other.

When something else is needed
We’d rather tell you now than book work that won’t help, so these are the things it will not cover:
- A light fitting that does not work
- A fan that cannot pull enough air because it’s worn out
- A hood that doesn’t cover the cooking line
Not sure which it is? You can phone us on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we will tell you honestly before booking.

How the visit works
On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you, often in the evening, overnight or at the weekend so the site keeps working. Anything that needs to be off for the work is switched off and left to cool first, and the area around the work is covered and protected. The work itself takes a few hours for most canopies. Tell us when your site near Grove is quiet and the visit will be booked for then.
- Diagnosis first: we look behind the filters as well as at the hood.
- Equipment is turned off and cooled, and the area under the canopy is protected.
- Thick grease is scraped away before the canopy is degreased.
- We finish the plenum, troughs and canopy and check them over.
- You get pictures of the result and a recommended date for the next clean.
Preparing for the visit
- Find the previous report, if there is one
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
- Move anything stored near the system
