What canopy cleaning can’t fix
It’s worth knowing the limits before booking:
- A light fitting that doesn’t work
- Ductwork and fans beyond the canopy (those need a full TR19 clean)
- A fan that can’t pull enough air because it’s worn out

How we handle canopy cleaning in Great Burgh
For canopies and hoods in Great Burgh, the work follows the same careful routine: we remove the filters, clean the plenum and housing, then degrease the canopy shell. You get photos of the canopy before and after. Typical jobs include grease filters blocking between washes and fat running down the front of the hood, across wall canopies, baffle filters and island canopies.
For a smaller kitchen near Great Burgh, a TR19® clean is the same job as anywhere: canopy, filters, plenum, duct, fan and discharge. We plan the visit around your hours, with the journey sorted in advance.
We’re CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we are fully insured. On top of that, we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we have been trading since 2009.

How we price canopy cleaning
Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We look at:
- The number of sites or systems
- Any permits to work or inductions
- Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
- The scale of the work
The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why every job is surveyed first, and why the quote is fixed before work begins.
Helping us quote
When you contact us, these details help:
- Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
- The site address and the type of premises
- Any access panels or hatches you can see
To help us quote: where the site is, what it is and its opening hours, pictures of the system and the last certificate or report, if there is one. Then give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or email us.
Landlords, agents and facilities managers
For anyone managing more than one site, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Each site gets its own report and photos, so each one has its own record.
Keeping records across a portfolio is half the battle. Each visit ends with a dated report and photos, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.
Why deal with it now?
Fresh grease comes off far more easily than old. Over months, the heat hardens it into a stubborn coating, which makes a later clean slower and harder. Systems on quieter sites still build up dirt and wear, just more slowly.
Working hours, access and the scale of the site can all change the price. We take each of them into account, and the price is fixed before any work starts.

What we do, step by step
Each visit runs to the same pattern: protect the area, make the system safe, do the work, clear away and hand over the paperwork. On site, the work takes an hour or two for one small canopy, longer where there are several. Getting to the system matters more than parking in a place like Great Burgh, so let us know how to reach it.
- We start by checking the canopy and what’s behind its filters.
- We protect everything below once it has cooled.
- Heavy deposits come off by hand, then the surfaces are degreased.
- Plenum, housing, troughs and canopy are all cleaned and checked.
- You get pictures of the result and a recommended date for the next clean.
Preparing for the visit
- Find the previous report, if there is one
- Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
- Let us know about parking and loading

Who is responsible for fire safety on the premises?

Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. Plans on a 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycle are available, to suit the system and how it’s used.
What happens if you cannot reach some of it?
Anything we cannot reach goes on the report, with a note of where it is, and we explain what access is needed, for example new access panels.
What happens to the waste?
Waste is contained during the work and removed when we leave, from grease and debris to used cleaning water. We don’t leave it behind.
Are you insured?
Yes. We’re fully insured, and we can share the details when you need them.
Is TR19 a legal requirement?
No. The law sets the duty, and TR19® is the recognised benchmark for meeting it. Under the Fire Safety Order 2005, the responsible person must reduce fire risk, and without records, many insurers may refuse or reduce a claim.

How the job changes from site to site
Plenums and filter housings
A plenum that hasn’t been cleaned for a long time can hold a thick layer of grease. Heavy deposits are scraped out by hand before degreasing.
School and staff canteen kitchens
Canteen staff see the canopy, not the duct behind it. The canopy and plenum are both cleaned, so what’s out of sight is dealt with too.
What your team can do, and what needs us
In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but they do not reach the grease that builds up further in. That part needs specialist access and equipment.
When your team notices a problem between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that won’t come clean, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We’ll take a look and send you a fixed quote.
