Canopy and hood cleaning in Brambridge, Hampshire
Our technicians work in Brambridge on canopy and hood cleaning. Out-of-hours visits, a fixed quote and a written report with pictures on every job.
- Fat running down the front of the hood
- Overflowing grease troughs and gutters
- A greasy hood noticed by an inspector
For landlords and multi-site operators
Whether it’s one building or many, the standard is the same: the system surveyed, the price fixed, the visit fitted around trading and everything written up afterwards.
For anyone managing more than one site, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Each site gets its own report and photos, so records stay tidy.
Canopy cleaning in Brambridge
Every TR19® Grease clean includes the canopy, but a canopy can also need cleaning on its own, between full system cleans. Where that’s the case, we’ll be clear that the ducts and fan aren’t included, so your records stay accurate. The work covers baffle filters, grease gutters and plenum chambers, and people most often call us about a filter housing caked in grease and smoke hanging around the canopy during service.
Somewhere as small as Brambridge, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Every one of them still needs its extract kept clear of grease.
We’ve been trading since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.

Common questions in Brambridge
Will you come out to Brambridge?
Yes, we work in villages as well as towns, and Brambridge is covered. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.
Which environmental health team covers Brambridge?
Food hygiene inspections in Brambridge are carried out by Winchester City council. How often a business is inspected depends on the risk rating the council gives it, so it’s worth staying ready all year.
What does canopy cleaning cost?
It depends on the site, so we quote each one individually. For a quote, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or email us and tell us about the site and its opening hours.
Do you provide photos of the cleaned canopy?
Before and after pictures go into a report, listing what was cleaned. Where the whole system is cleaned, you also get a TR19 certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.
Can you look after several sites?
Yes. Our area covers London and the South East, so we can schedule a run of sites on one programme. Every site has its own report.
Why is my canopy dripping grease?
Most drips come from overflowing troughs, damaged filters or a plenum thick with grease. We clean the canopy, plenum and troughs and tell you what we find.
Can you come out in an emergency?
Yes, any time. For anything urgent, such as a fan failure or damage after a fire, ring the 24/7 line, and we’ll advise on what to do next.
Can you set up regular visits?
Yes. We run scheduled maintenance contracts, with visits at the interval your system needs. Each report recommends when the next visit should be.

Kitchen extracts in Brambridge
Food Standards Agency records list about 8 restaurants, cafés and works canteens in Brambridge and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. Any of those kitchens with a canopy has a hood that needs cleaning inside and out. Fire safety in Brambridge falls to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises. It’s Winchester City council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Brambridge. Extraction counts as kitchen equipment, so its condition can come up on the day. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked.
Healthcare kitchens can’t easily close, so their extracts are cleaned overnight or between meal services; the nearest hospital to Brambridge is Moorgreen Hospital, about 4.5 miles south. A hall kitchen that only cooks for events, whether near Church of the Holy Trinity or elsewhere in Brambridge, still needs its extract cleaned, just less often.

Keeping the system healthy
A little care between visits keeps the system in better shape. We recommend:
- Check filters aren’t leaving gaps
- Never run the range with a filter out
- Empty the grease troughs before they fill
- Leave the extract running until cooking stops
Keep the photo report with your maintenance log where an inspector can see it. Photos of a clean canopy and plenum make the record easy to follow.
A change in how the canopy behaves is worth reporting. It can mean the cooking has changed or the interval is too long, which a grease thickness test can confirm.
What we are called out for in Brambridge
The plenum is hidden behind the filters, so nobody sees it build up. Daily cleaning reaches the canopy face but rarely gets further, leaving the plenum and housing to collect grease between professional cleans.
Most sites get in touch after spotting one of these:
- Grease filters blocking between washes
- A hood coated in old grease
- A filter housing caked in grease
- Overflowing grease troughs and gutters
If you run catering at a historic house or estate in the area (South Stoneham House is about 4.5 miles south-west), event kitchens in older buildings often have awkward duct runs that need planning.

How the job changes from site to site
Plenums and filter housings
Behind the grease filters is the plenum. Grease that slips past the filters settles there, and it’s cleaned every time we clean the canopy.
Island canopies
An island canopy is open on all sides, which means grease settles on all four sides. Each face is cleaned inside and out.
What a clean will not put right
Canopy cleaning cannot fix everything, and we’ll tell you before work begins. It does not solve:
- Weak extraction caused by a failing fan motor
- A light fitting that doesn’t work
- A canopy too small for the cooking under it (that is a design question)
If you are not sure, just call 0345 646 2711 or email us and we will give you a straight answer.

How it works
We start by comparing what we find with the survey or your pictures. If anything is different, we talk it through with the person on site before carrying on. From there, it takes an hour or two for one small canopy, longer where there are several. If you can send pictures, we can arrive in Brambridge knowing what to expect.
- Diagnosis first: we look behind the filters as well as at the hood.
- Equipment is turned off and cooled, and the area under the canopy is protected.
- Thick grease is scraped away before the canopy is degreased.
- Plenum, housing, troughs and canopy are all cleaned and checked.
- The canopy is signed off with before and after pictures and a next clean date.
Getting ready for the visit
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
- Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
- Tell us where we can park and unload
How to get a quote
Some systems can be priced from pictures; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before work begins.
Related advice
Why deal with it now?
Drips from a dirty canopy land on the cooking line. It’s a food hygiene concern as much as a fire concern, and environmental health officers look at the cleanliness of equipment, extraction included. It’s simpler to plan the work at Brambridge now than to arrange it in a hurry later.
Whatever the type of site, the quote works the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Ask for a fixed quote and we will explain each part.
