About our canopy cleaning in Baybridge
Canopy cleans are done out of hours: after service, overnight or at the weekend. The equipment underneath is switched off, left to cool and sheeted so the kitchen is ready when we go. If you have drips from the canopy onto the range and poor capture at the hood, we can help, from island canopies, baffle filters and plenum chambers onwards.
Work in a small place like Baybridge starts with a call to agree access and timings, and the clean covers the whole system, as it would anywhere: canopy to discharge, then a TR19® certificate and a photo report.
Think of the report as the system’s health record: a dated account with pictures of everything we did. Grease extract cleans are also certificated to TR19® Grease through the BESCA VHE portal and sits alongside the report.

Questions from Baybridge
Is Baybridge within the area you cover?
Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Baybridge included. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.
Can the work in Baybridge be done at night or at weekends?
Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. The work in Baybridge can fit around your hours. Let us know the hours you are closed and we will book within them.
How much of the canopy do you clean?
The full canopy, inside and out, and the plenum behind it. Grease troughs and filter channels are emptied and degreased as part of the job.
What is TR19?
A BESA specification in two main parts: TR19® Grease for kitchen extracts and TR19® Air for supply and extract systems. It isn’t legislation, but it’s the standard people check against.
Does the law say we must follow TR19?
No, not in itself. Insurers, fire officers and EHOs look to TR19® as the benchmark, and many insurers ask for proof of cleaning to it. The law behind it is the Fire Safety Order 2005, which applies in England and Wales.
What kinds of canopies do you clean?
Canopies in pubs, restaurants, hotels, schools, care homes, offices and other kitchens. Whatever is cooked under it, the canopy is cleaned the same thorough way, with the equipment off and cool.
Are you accredited?
We hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, alongside BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. Vent Hygiene Elite is run by BESCA and independently audited.
Where does the waste go?
Anything we remove is contained as we work and taken away with us, from grease and debris to used cleaning water. None of it is left on site.
When something else is needed
In fairness, some problems need a different fix:
- Electrical faults in the canopy
- Grease filters too damaged to refit (they need replacing)
- A canopy undersized for the equipment
Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

What happens on the day
We turn up at the time agreed with you, often in the evening, overnight or at the weekend so the site keeps working. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool before we start, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. On site, it takes an hour or two for one small canopy, longer where there are several. Visits to a village like Baybridge are booked in advance, at a time that suits whoever runs the site.
- Diagnosis first: we look behind the filters as well as at the hood.
- Equipment is turned off and cooled, and the area under the canopy is protected.
- Thick grease is scraped away before the canopy is degreased.
- Plenum, housing, troughs and canopy are all cleaned and checked.
- The canopy is signed off with before and after photos and a next clean date.
Before we arrive
- Tell us where we can park and unload
- Find the previous report, if there is one
- Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
How to get a quote
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before we start.

Different parts, different methods
Grease troughs and gutters
Where a trough drains into a grease cup, that’s emptied and cleaned too, and we’ll show staff where it is.
Wall canopies
At the back of the canopy, behind the filters, grease builds up unseen. We remove the filters to reach it and degrease it properly.
When to call us in Baybridge
Filters that are missing, damaged or badly seated leave gaps. The plenum and housing behind them then take far more grease than they should, which shows up as heavy deposits when the filters come out.
The symptoms we’re asked about most include:
- Drips from the canopy onto the range
- Canopy gutters full of old fat
- Condensation running down the canopy
- A greasy hood noticed by an inspector
Healthcare kitchens can’t easily close, so their extracts are cleaned overnight or between meal services; the nearest hospital to Baybridge is St John's Rooms And Chapel, about 4.7 miles north-west.
Before you book anyone

- Proof of accreditation you can verify

Canopy cleaning around Baybridge
Baybridge is covered by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract. Environmental health officers from Winchester City council inspect food businesses in Baybridge. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector.
School kitchens, at schools like Owslebury Primary School for example, are typically cleaned in the holidays so no lunches are lost. If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near Church of St Andrew or elsewhere in Baybridge, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event.

How we price canopy cleaning
We do not publish a price list, because sites vary so much. What we look at:
- The condition of the system
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
- Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
- Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
You will not find a price list here, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. For a fixed quote, call 0345 646 2711 or send us an email, and we will talk you through it.
Helping us quote
A few details help us quote accurately. With your enquiry, please include:
- The postcode and the type of business
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
- Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from your photos and details or, where that isn’t enough, a survey on site. Then we send a fixed price so you know the cost before any work starts.

Leave it or put it right?
Baked-on grease gets harder to shift the longer it stays. Heat from the range bakes canopy grease into a hard, dark layer, which makes a later clean slower and harder. A planned visit to Baybridge is easier to arrange than an emergency callout.
Putting the work off seldom saves money. Problems in a system tend to grow, which can make the next visit longer. If you’re not sure what’s needed, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form for straight advice and a fixed quote.
