Canopy cleaning in Albourne Green
A greasy canopy tells an inspector a lot before they’ve opened anything. What isn’t seen, behind the filters, tends to be worse. Canopy cleaning deals with both, so the hood looks right and works properly. If you have condensation and grease dripping together and canopy gutters full of old fat, we can help, from wall canopies, island canopies and canopy light fittings onwards.
Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, where grease settles in the flat sections. Access, parking and timings are agreed before the day.
Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured. We’re also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

How we price canopy cleaning
Sites vary more than people expect. What affects the quote:
- The scale of the work
- How easy every part is to reach
- Travel, parking and unloading
- A single visit or a regular plan
The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That is why we survey first, from pictures or on site, and why the quote is fixed before we start.
Asking for a quote
What to send for a quote:
- Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
- The postcode and the type of business
- Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
- How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.
How the visit works
The first job on site is protection: floors, worktops and anything near the work are covered. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. It takes a few hours for most canopies, and the area is cleaned down before we leave. We agree a date with you, plan the drive to Albourne Green and turn up when the site is quiet.
- We look at the canopy first, from photos or on a visit.
- Equipment below is switched off and left to cool, then sheeted.
- We remove the grease filters and clean the plenum and filter housing.
- Inside and out, the canopy and its grease channels are degreased.
- Filters go back, the area is cleaned down and photos are taken.
Getting ready for the visit
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
- Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
- Mention any parking or loading restrictions
Get a fixed quote
The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.
Advice
When something else is needed
Not every problem is solved by canopy cleaning, and we’d rather say so up front. It won’t put right:
- Faulty canopy lights or wiring (a job for an electrician)
- Weak extraction caused by a failing fan motor
- A hood that doesn’t cover the cooking line
If in doubt, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will say what we think before booking.

Between visits
Good habits slow the build-up between visits. A few tips:
- Report new drips or smells from the canopy
- Empty the grease troughs before they fill
- Leave the extract running until cooking stops
- Give the canopy a wipe after service
Where the canopy is cleaned as part of a full TR19® Grease clean, a TR19 certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. Where only the canopy is done, the report says so clearly.
Do not let canopy gutters fill to the brim. Most canopy drips start with a full trough, so make emptying them part of the closing routine.
How the job changes from site to site
Grease troughs and gutters
Where a trough drains into a grease cup, that is emptied and cleaned too, and we will show staff where it is.
School and staff canteen kitchens
Canteen staff see the canopy, not the duct behind it. The canopy and plenum are both cleaned, so what’s out of sight is dealt with too.
What we’re called out for in Albourne Green
Grease that runs down the inside of a canopy gathers in its gutters and troughs. Left to fill up, they spill over, so fat ends up running down the front of the hood.
Most sites get in touch when they notice something like this:
- Poor capture at the hood
- Condensation and grease dripping together
- Greasy streaks across the canopy
- Overflowing grease troughs and gutters
If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like The Dene Hospital about 2.5 miles north-east, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers
Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we’re happy to quote for all of it.
Managing agents often deal with us directly. Tell us the site, the work and the access arrangements and we will come back with a fixed quote.

FAQs for Albourne Green
Can the work in Albourne Green be done at night or at weekends?
Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. Your customers, staff or residents in Albourne Green needn’t be disturbed. Just call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form with your opening times and we will plan around them.
Who would carry out a food hygiene inspection at a kitchen in Albourne Green?
Food hygiene inspections in Albourne Green are carried out by Mid Sussex council. An officer may look up into the canopy, so clean filters on the day and a recent certificate on file both help.
Does the law say we must follow TR19?
Not in itself. TR19® is the benchmark insurers, fire officers and EHOs check against, and many insurers ask for proof of cleaning to it. The law behind it is the Fire Safety Order 2005, which applies in England and Wales.
What is TR19?
It’s the industry benchmark for cleaning ventilation and kitchen extract systems, written by BESA. It sets out inspection, cleaning and record keeping, and it takes a risk-based approach.
What do you need from me for a quote?
Only a few details: where it is, what kind of site, when it’s open and the access. Photos and any previous paperwork make it quicker. Then call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.
What paperwork do I get after a canopy clean?
You get a photo report with before and after photos. Full system cleans also come with a TR19 certificate.
What do you do with what you remove?
It leaves the site with us when we go. During the work, it’s contained so the area stays clean.
Which sectors do you work in?
Any site with a kitchen or a ventilation system to look after, from a single café to a large school. Hotels, schools, care homes, offices, shops and leisure sites are all part of our work.
