AHU cleaning for sites in Tonge

AHU cleaning in Tonge

Units vary a lot in size, age and layout, from a small ceiling-mounted unit to a large rooftop plant. We look at the unit first, from pictures or a site visit, and send you a fixed quote before any cleaning starts. The work covers internal panels, drain trays and filter sections, and people most often call us about dust-coated heating and cooling coils and odours coming through the supply air.

Somewhere as small as Tonge, ducted ventilation is typically limited to a school, a care home, a surgery or a converted business building, wherever there is one, but where it’s fitted, it needs the same inspection and cleaning as anywhere.

We’re CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we’re fully insured. We’re also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

AHU cleaning in Tonge: local notes

Food Standards Agency data includes about 3 care, childcare and hospital premises within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Tonge. What your team can do, and what needs us

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but the parts you can’t see still need a specialist at the right interval.

Some jobs should never be done in-house: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings need training, the right equipment and safe access. Leave those to us.

Signs you need AHU cleaning in Tonge

Whatever surrounds a building in Tonge, the air drawn into its AHU carries dust, pollen and debris. The intake section and first filters take the brunt, and the finer material travels on.

It’s time to book a visit if you see:

  • Units that have only ever had filter changes
  • Condensate trays that will not empty
  • Debris and leaves in the fresh air intake
  • Air handling units due a clean after building work

For buildings in and around Tonge, TR19® Air cleaning starts with an inspection.

Questions to ask before booking

Leave it or put it right?

Stuffy rooms and stale smells in a building in Tonge can sometimes be traced back to the AHU. A clean tackles the source instead of masking it. In a place like Tonge, ductwork and fans are easy to forget until something goes wrong.

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Call for a fixed quote and we will explain each part.

Tonge: your questions answered

Do you work overnight in Tonge?

Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. It means the site in Tonge keeps running as normal. Let us know the hours you are closed and we’ll book within them.

Do you cover Tonge for AHU cleaning?

Yes. Our area runs across London and the South East, Tonge included. A fixed quote typically follows within one working day of the survey details.

What if parts of the system can’t be reached?

They’re listed in the report, never skipped quietly. The report says which parts couldn’t be reached and why, and we can quote to improve the access.

What’s TR19?

A BESA specification, with two parts that matter most here: TR19® Grease for kitchen extracts and TR19® Air for supply and extract systems. It isn’t law, but it’s the benchmark.

How much notice do you need?

The more notice, the better, especially for out-of-hours work. We typically quote within one working day, and emergencies are covered by our 24/7 line.

Do you look at the system first?

Yes. We always survey first, from your photos and details, or with a visit where needed. Then you get a fixed quote.

What does AHU cleaning cost?

Every site is different, so each gets its own fixed quote. To get one, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and tell us about the site and its opening hours.

How do you protect the area?

We cover floors and nearby surfaces with sheeting before any work starts, and anything we remove is contained. At the end, the area is cleaned down.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Tonge

Whether it’s one building or many, you get the same standard: a survey first, a fixed quote, the work timed around the site and a report with pictures.

We regularly work with managing agents. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works, and we’ll send a fixed quote.

Keeping the system healthy

Looking after the system between visits is straightforward, and it helps at the next visit:

  • Plan the next inspection before the last report gets filed away
  • Keep inspection doors on the unit in good order
  • Make sure condensate is draining away
  • Do not ignore odours coming through the grilles

If the ductwork hasn’t been cleaned, consider it next. A clean unit feeding dirty ducts only solves half the problem, and we can quote for both.

Have the unit inspected regularly, in line with the risk-based approach of TR19® Air instead of leaving it to guesswork.

What we do, step by step

Night work is normal for us. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so the site can open as normal afterwards. On site, the work takes half a day to a full day per unit, with large plant planned over several shifts. Seeing the system in pictures first means the trip to Tonge can be planned properly.

  1. We look at the unit and the plant area during the survey.
  2. We sheet the area and the unit is isolated.
  3. Dirt and debris are removed from each section.
  4. We clean the coils and clear the tray and drain.
  5. We close every panel, hand the unit back and send the report and certificate.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
  • Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
  • Clear the space around the work

What the work involves, part by part

Drain trays

The drain tray collects water from the cooling coil. Standing water and slime are removed and the outlet is checked.

Heating and cooling coils

Coil fins are close together and catch the dust the filters miss. They’re cleaned using methods that won’t bend or flatten the fins.
