About our AHU cleaning in Radfield

No two plant rooms are the same, whether it’s a compact unit in a ceiling void or a big unit on the roof. We look at the unit first, from photos or a site visit, and give you a fixed quote before any cleaning starts. The work covers supply and extract fans, internal panels and heating and cooling coils, and common reasons people get in touch are units that have only ever had filter changes and blocked condensate drains and slimy trays.

Somewhere as small as Radfield, ducted ventilation is typically limited to a school, a care home, a surgery or a converted business building, wherever there is one, but where it’s fitted, it needs the same inspection and cleaning as anywhere.

Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a dated report with photos of the work, plus a certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal when the work is a TR19® Grease clean. Any parts we couldn’t reach are recorded on it too.

What happens on the day

The first job on site is protection: floors, worktops and anything near the work are covered. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. It takes anything from half a day for one small unit to several shifts for a plant room full of them, and we clear up before we go. We agree a date with you, plan the drive to Radfield and turn up when the site is quiet.

  1. First we agree when the unit can be switched off, including evenings or weekends.
  2. Before cleaning, each section is photographed.
  3. We work through the unit from the intake to the outlet.
  4. The fan and drain tray are cleaned and the drain checked.
  5. We take after pictures and issue the certificate and report.

How to prepare

  • Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
  • Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system

How to get a quote

Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.

What AHU cleaning looks like in Radfield

The FSA’s food hygiene register lists about 4 schools, colleges and universities and about 6 hospitals, care homes and childcare premises with registered kitchens or food service in Radfield and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. Fixed quotes for AHU cleaning in Radfield

We don’t publish a price list, because sites vary so much. What we look at:

  • The condition we find in the survey
  • Parking and loading at the site
  • Whether several sites go on one quote
  • One-off work versus a regular cycle

The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why every job is surveyed first, and the price is agreed before work begins.

Asking for a quote

To help us quote quickly, please include:

  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
  • Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
  • How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use

Quotes are quick. Send a few details and photos, and we typically reply with a fixed quote within one working day. Where a survey is needed, we arrange a time that suits the site.

Questions from Radfield

Do you work in villages like Radfield?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Radfield included. A survey first, from pictures or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.

Can the work in Radfield be done at night or at weekends?

Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. That way a site in Radfield doesn’t have to lose a day’s trading. Just ring 0345 646 2711, or send details by email with your opening times and we will plan around them.

Can one contract cover all our sites?

Yes. One number covers all your sites in our area, with visits on a regular schedule.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes, always. Diagnosis comes before treatment: the survey tells us what the system needs and how to reach it and the fixed quote is built on it.

What do you do with what you remove?

It’s contained and taken away. We collect grease, debris and waste water as we go, so it doesn’t spread.

How much does AHU cleaning cost in Radfield?

Size, condition, access and working hours all affect the cost. Call for a fixed quote and we’ll usually reply within one working day.

Will we get paperwork for the AHU clean?

Yes. A TR19® certificate and photo report are sent after the clean, including anything we think needs attention.

Can we book visits on a schedule?

Yes. Plans on a 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycle are available, to suit the system and how it’s used.

What AHU cleaning can’t fix

AHU cleaning can’t fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It won’t put right:

  • Mechanical faults with motors, belts or bearings
  • A system that is undersized for the building
  • Coils that are corroded or leaking and need replacing

If in doubt, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we will say what we think.

Multi-site and managed buildings

Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Each visit produces a dated report with photos, ready to show insurers, fire officers or EHOs.

Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We work across London and the South East, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept on a regular cycle.

Aftercare tips

Good habits slow the build-up between visits. Our tips:

  • Keep inspection doors on the unit in good order
  • Flag stale or damp smells in the supply air
  • Report water on the plant room floor
  • Book the next check in line with the report

Once the clean is done, we send a TR19® certificate and a report with before and after photos. Keep both with the building’s maintenance records.

Do not let leaves, litter or stored materials build up near the fresh air intake. Anything around the intake is likely to be drawn in.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

Some jobs should never be done in-house: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease need training, the right equipment and safe access. That’s our job.

For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.

Why deal with it now?

Dirt left in an air handling unit doesn’t stay in the unit. It moves on into the ductwork and out into the rooms, so cleaning the ducts without the unit only goes so far. It’s worth booking a check, because nobody sees inside a duct day to day.

Whatever the type of site, the quote works the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Ask for a fixed quote and we will go through it with you.
