AHU cleaning in Stanway

AHU cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Stanway

Drain trays under cooling coils are meant to empty. If the outlet blocks, standing water and slime build up, right in the path of the air going into the building. Clearing and cleaning the tray is central to every AHU clean. We’re often asked to deal with fan sections that haven’t been cleaned in years and condensate trays that won’t empty, on supply and extract fans, drain trays and internal panels.

Somewhere as small as Stanway, ducted ventilation is typically limited to a school, a care home, a surgery or a converted business building, wherever there is one, but where it’s fitted, it needs the same inspection and cleaning as anywhere.

Think of the report as the system’s health record: dated, with photos, and showing what was done. For TR19® Grease cleans, the certificate comes through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal, ready for your insurer.

Stanway questions

Can ventilation in schools around Stanway be cleaned out of term?

Yes. The holidays are the usual time for school work. There are about 7 schools, colleges and universities on the FSA’s food hygiene register within about 1.5 miles of Stanway. Just call us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos with your term dates and we’ll plan around them.

Do you work in villages like Stanway?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Stanway included. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

How long will the unit be out of action?

Cleaning takes a single shift for a typical unit, longer for large or heavily soiled ones. Large plant can be split over several shifts, and you can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form to plan it.

Can you look after several sites?

Yes. Send the list of sites and the work at each and you’ll get one fixed quote.

What do you need from me for a quote?

A short description and a few pictures plus the address and your hours. We’ll ask for anything else we need.

What happens if you can’t reach some of it?

We never leave them off the paperwork. You’ll know exactly which parts weren’t reached and why, and we can quote to improve the access.

Do you need to switch the unit off?

Yes, while the clean is under way. Out-of-hours work is available to keep disruption down.

Do you offer emergency callouts?

Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7, for problems that cannot wait. Ring any time and tell us what’s happened.

What the work involves, part by part

Internal casing and panels

Dust settles on every internal surface of the unit. Each section is cleaned from the intake through to the outlet.

Fans and fan sections

The fan section is cleaned with the unit switched off and isolated in agreement with the site.

How we price AHU cleaning

We don’t publish a price list, because no two systems are the same. The quote depends on:

  • Whether several sites go on one quote
  • Travel, parking and unloading
  • Any permits to work or inductions
  • The times the site is available

You will not find a price list here, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a fixed quote, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line, and we’ll talk you through it.

Helping us quote

A few details help us quote accurately. With your enquiry, please include:

  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
  • Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it

There’s no standard price list, because every site is different. We look at your system first, from pictures or on a visit, then send a fixed quote. To get going, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.

How the visit works

There are three stages on the day: set-up, the treatment itself and the sign-off. Set-up means sheeting and making equipment safe, while signing off means the written report and pictures. Most of the time goes on the work itself, which takes anything from half a day for one small unit to several shifts for a plant room full of them. If you can send photos, we can arrive in Stanway knowing what to expect.

  1. We look at the unit and the plant area during the survey.
  2. The area is protected and the unit made safe.
  3. Dirt and debris are removed from each section.
  4. Coils and trays are cleaned and the condensate drain cleared.
  5. We close every panel, hand the unit back and send the report and certificate.

Before we arrive

  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
  • Move anything stored near the system
  • Arrange a key holder or contact on site

How to get a quote

For a fixed quote, ring 0345 646 2711, or send details by email with the site type, your trading hours and a short description of the system. Photos and the last report, if you have one, make the quote quicker. We normally come back within one working day.

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple, and it helps at the next visit:

  • Clear leaves and litter away from the intake
  • Make sure the unit’s access doors open easily
  • Do not ignore odours coming through the grilles
  • Check the drain tray is emptying during routine visits

The report shows each section of the unit before and after, along with anything we couldn’t reach. It also notes faults we spotted, such as damaged panels or a blocked drain.

Don’t let leaves, litter or stored materials build up near the fresh air intake. Anything around the intake is likely to be drawn in.

What AHU cleaning can’t fix

Some problems need a different service or another trade:

  • Dirty ducts beyond the unit itself
  • A system that’s undersized for the building
  • Damaged coils beyond cleaning

If you are not sure, just ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will give you a straight answer.

What the work covers

  • Internal panels
  • Supply and extract fans
  • Dampers and louvres
  • Drain trays
  • Filter sections
  • Heating and cooling coils

Why deal with it now?

Standing water in a drain tray does not clear itself. Left alone, it can overflow, leak into the plant area or ceiling below and spread smells through the system. Clearing it now is a much smaller job. If the system at a site near Stanway fails, there may be nowhere nearby to move to.

A single site or a whole portfolio, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the timing. You’ll have a fixed price before any work starts.

Why us?

  • Each visit written up, with pictures
  • Every job surveyed first
  • Work around your opening hours, with 24/7 emergency cover
  • Fully insured

Ventilation in Stanway buildings

Food Standards Agency data includes about 7 schools, colleges and universities and about 6 caring premises (care homes, nurseries and hospitals) within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Stanway. Buildings like these often rely on mechanical ventilation, which TR19® Air covers. Stanway is about 47 miles from central London, well within the area we cover across London and the South East. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends, so the visit fits around the site. For Stanway, the closest hospital is Essex County Hospital, roughly 3.1 miles east. Clean air matters most where people are unwell, and that is as true in a care home as in a hospital.

School buildings such as Stanway Primary School are typically done in the holidays, so classrooms aren’t disturbed.

Stanway is about 2 miles west of Camulodunum, in Essex. Across the CO3 area, we can take on AHU cleaning. Our area takes in 644 places across Essex, large and small. For sites nearby, see our Chelmsford page, about 17 miles away.

Our technicians cover all of CO3 and CO6 for AHU cleaning and the streets around it. When to call us in Stanway

Cooling coils create condensation, and that water has to go somewhere. A blocked outlet or a badly sloped tray leaves standing water, and that is where slime and odours start.

Most sites get in touch when they notice one of these:

  • Rooms that smell stuffy when the system runs
  • Dust built up on fan impellers
  • Dirty coils holding back the airflow
  • Air handling units never cleaned inside

If you run a surgery, dental practice or care home near Stanway, clean ventilation matters as much to you as to a hospital like Essex County Hospital (about 3.1 miles east).
