AHU cleaning in Jericho

AHU cleaning in Jericho, done properly

Every supply and extract system relies on the air handling unit at its centre: it draws air in, filters it, heats or cools it and pushes it round the ductwork. Whatever builds up inside it travels with that air, which is why we clean the unit itself, not just the ducts. Common call-outs are for fan sections that haven’t been cleaned in years and units that have only ever had filter changes, across internal panels, supply and extract fans and heating and cooling coils.

Smaller buildings around Jericho often keep their ventilation units in a roof void or plant cupboard, where they’re easy to forget. Filters, coils and drain trays need attention whatever the size of the unit.

We are CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we’re fully insured. We are also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we’ve been trading since 2009.

AHU cleaning around Jericho

There are about 85 schools, colleges and universities, about 19 hospitals, care homes and childcare premises and about 19 hotels and guest houses on the FSA’s food hygiene register in and around Jericho, up to about a mile and a half out. Busy, occupied buildings like these are where clean supply air matters most. About 53 miles out from central London, Jericho is part of the South East area we work across. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends, so the visit fits around the site. The nearest hospital to Jericho is Radcliffe Infirmary, about under half a mile east. If you run a surgery, clinic or care home, your ventilation deserves the same care as a hospital’s, on a smaller scale.

Radcliffe Infirmary, about less than half a mile east, is the nearest hospital to Jericho, and healthcare sites of every size need their supply air kept clean. If you manage a school such as St Barnabas' Church of England Aided Primary School, ventilation cleaning is best booked for the holidays.

Jericho is about 2 miles west of Oxford, in Oxfordshire. Whatever kind of site you run in Jericho, AHU cleaning is something we can help with. We can work out of hours so the site keeps running. Jericho is one of 443 towns, villages and districts in Oxfordshire we cover for AHU cleaning.

Every address in OX1 and OX2 is covered for AHU cleaning, from the main roads to the quietest streets. We cover sites on Abbey Road, Combe Road and Pusey Lane and the roads around them. With the A4144 close by, Jericho is simple for us to get to at any hour. Neighbouring places we cover for AHU cleaning include Walton Manor (1 mile north), St John Street area (1 mile south-east), Park Town (1 mile north-east), Norham Manor (1 mile north-east) and Osney (1 mile south-west). Larger places within reach include Didcot (10 miles south), Bicester (11 miles north-east), Abingdon-on-Thames (6 miles south), Witney (10 miles west), Carterton (14 miles west) and Thame (13 miles east).

What we’re called out for in Jericho

Wherever there’s a cooling coil, there’s condensate. If the drain tray outlet blocks or the tray doesn’t fall properly, water stands in it, and that’s where slime and odours start.

Most sites get in touch after spotting something like this:

  • Air handling units with blocked filters
  • Fan sections that haven’t been cleaned in years
  • Air handling units never cleaned inside
  • Dust-coated heating and cooling coils

If you manage offices or shops near Oxford station, their ventilation can be inspected and cleaned out of hours.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

For anyone managing more than one site, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Each site gets its own report and pictures, so each one has its own record.

Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We cover South East England and London, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept on a regular cycle.

When something else is needed

Not every problem is solved by AHU cleaning, and we’d rather say so up front. It won’t put right:

  • Controls and BMS settings that run the unit
  • Coils that are corroded or leaking and need replacing
  • Airflow problems caused by the system’s design

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will tell you honestly before you book.

FAQs for Jericho

Do you work in villages like Jericho?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Jericho included. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.

Do you do school ventilation cleaning in Jericho in the summer holidays?

Yes. Half-terms and the summer break are the natural time for school work. Food Standards Agency records list about 85 schools, colleges and universities with registered kitchens within about a mile and a half of Jericho. You can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form with the dates the site is empty.

Can you clean the AHU out of hours?

Yes, if daytime working isn’t practical. We plan the shutdown window with you.

What types of premises do you cover?

All kinds of commercial and public premises: from restaurants, pubs and hotels to schools, hospitals, care homes, offices, shops and food production sites. We fit the work around how the site operates.

What about areas you can’t get to?

The report shows them clearly. Often the fix is extra access, such as new panels in ductwork, and we can fit those.

Can you set up regular visits?

Yes, of course. Tell us what you have and how it’s used, and we will suggest a schedule and quote for it.

Can you look after several sites?

Yes. Send the list of sites and the work at each and you’ll get one fixed quote.

Will you repair the fan or motor?

Our AHU work is cleaning rather than mechanical repair. If we spot a fault, we note it in the report so your maintenance contractor can deal with it.

Why it’s worth doing now in Jericho

Dirt left in an air handling unit does not stay in the unit. It’s carried through the ductwork and out of the grilles, which is why the unit and the ducts are best cleaned together. A site near Jericho that has to close at short notice is hard to cover for.

What you pay depends on the size of the system, what state it’s in and how easy it is to reach. You get a fixed price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.

Looking after it afterwards

No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. A few tips:

  • Make sure the unit’s access doors open easily
  • Diary the inspection date recommended in the report
  • Don’t ignore odours coming through the grilles
  • Change filters on schedule and log each change

Restart the unit with your site team or maintenance contractor once we have finished. Check the drain tray is emptying over the first few days to make sure it stays clear.

Check drain trays and condensate drains during routine maintenance. A drain that’s cleared early never gets to the slime stage.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

Staff cleaning doesn’t replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.

If your staff spot something between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, it’s best reported rather than tackled in-house. We can diagnose it and quote.

How the visit works

Each visit runs to the same pattern: sheeting and protection first, make the system safe, carry out the AHU cleaning, clear away and hand over the paperwork. The visit itself takes anything from half a day for one small unit to several shifts for a plant room full of them. Visits to a place like Jericho are planned ahead, so we arrive with what the survey says the job needs.

  1. We survey the unit from photos or on site and agree what’s included.
  2. We arrange the shutdown with your staff and sheet the area.
  3. Filters are dealt with as agreed, and the coils, fan and casing cleaned.
  4. Drain trays are cleared and cleaned and the outlet checked.
  5. We close up the unit and send the certificate and before and after photos.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
  • Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool

Ask for a quote

Here’s what helps us quote: the address, the type of site and when it’s open, photos of the system and the last certificate or report, if there is one. Then phone us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos.
