Ventilation duct cleaning across The Hyde

What the work involves, part by part

Extract ductwork

General extract ductwork removes stale air from rooms, toilets and washrooms. They collect dust, lint and fibres and slowly narrow.

Grilles and diffusers

Dark streaks round a ceiling diffuser can be a sign of dirty supply air. We clean the grilles and look at what’s behind them.

Ventilation duct cleaning for kitchens and businesses in The Hyde

Inspection comes first. The ducts are opened at access points and the condition recorded, then recommend cleaning where it’s needed. That keeps the work in proportion to the risk. The work covers toilet extract systems, hospitals and care homes and grilles and diffusers, and the jobs we see most are rooms that feel airless when the system runs and musty smells from the ventilation.

Across London, offices, hotels, schools and healthcare buildings rely on mechanical ventilation, much of it supplied through air handling units on roofs or in basements. For a building in The Hyde, dust settles in the units and ducts year after year.

Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.

What we do, step by step

Night work is normal for us. Evenings, nights and weekends are when much of our work happens, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. The visit itself takes a day or less for a small system and a series of visits for a large one. Security desks and permits-to-work are routine in London, so let us know what your building in The Hyde needs from us.

  1. We survey the system from drawings, photos or a site visit.
  2. Ducts are inspected at access points and the condition recorded.
  3. The area below is protected and the system switched off.
  4. We clean the ductwork, grilles and diffusers through access panels.
  5. You get a TR19® certificate and photo report, with any unreached sections noted.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any parking or loading restrictions
  • Find the previous report, if there is one
  • Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend

How to get a quote

Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work starts.

Common questions in The Hyde

Can you clean school ventilation in The Hyde during the holidays?

Yes. Half-terms and the summer break are the natural time for school work. The FSA’s register shows about 39 schools and colleges with food registrations within roughly a mile and a half of The Hyde. Tell us your holiday dates and we’ll book the visit for when the site is empty.

Can parking be tricky for a job in The Hyde?

Tell us where a van can stop near your site in The Hyde, and about any building rules on loading. Working overnight, as we often do in London, normally makes it simpler.

What happens to the waste?

It leaves the site with us when we go. While we work, it’s kept contained so the area stays clean.

How long will the duct cleaning take?

It takes a day or less for a small system and a series of visits for a large one. How much ductwork there is and how easily it’s reached decide the rest.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. We’re fully insured, and the details are available on request.

What types of premises do you cover?

Commercial premises of every kind: kitchens, offices, schools, healthcare, retail, leisure and food production. Work is timed around how each site runs.

Do you have a 24/7 line?

Yes, 24/7. Our office is open from 8am to 6pm on weekdays, and the emergency line covers the rest.

What staff can safely do

In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. That part needs specialist access and equipment.

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

Looking after it afterwards

No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. Our tips:

  • Flag any dust coming out of the vents
  • Get leaks near ductwork fixed quickly
  • Log every filter change
  • Include grilles in the cleaning rota

The report lists the sections we cleaned and any we couldn’t reach, with photos before and after. We’ll suggest where new access panels would help.

Make sure there are enough access panels to inspect and clean the ducts. The worst build-up tends to be where no one can look.

Do you need ventilation duct cleaning in The Hyde?

In a building in The Hyde, the ventilation may run for long hours every day, and every hour of running brings more dust with it. The busier the building, the faster it builds up.

What we’re most often called out for:

  • Musty smells from the ventilation
  • Systems missing access panels
  • Dusty supply ductwork that hasn’t been cleaned in years
  • Ventilation full of debris from building work

Workplaces around Hendon station with an air handling unit need the filters, coils and drain tray looked at, as well as the ducts.

For landlords and multi-site operators

Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Each visit produces a dated report with pictures, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.

Facilities teams in offices, schools and healthcare sites book us too in The Hyde and across Greater London. Larger estates can be phased building by building to keep disruption down.

Why act early in The Hyde

Where a building in The Hyde serves patients, residents or children, putting off ventilation cleaning is hard to justify. Clean ducts are part of providing good air for the people inside. Every month a London system goes without attention adds to what has to be done later.

A single site or a whole portfolio, the quote is built the same way: the work involved, the access and the timing. The price is fixed before we start.
