TR19 inspection in Waterend, done properly
BESA sets minimum cleaning intervals by daily use: every 3 months for heavy use of 12 to 16 hours a day, every 6 months for moderate use of 6 to 12 hours, and every 12 months for light use of 2 to 6 hours. Those are minimums, and grease readings help set the real interval. If you have insurers asking for TR19 evidence and kitchen extract systems with no recent grease readings, we can help, from access surveys, deposit thickness tests and pre-clean surveys onwards.
In a small place like Waterend, kitchens are often in older or extended buildings, with long single-storey duct runs, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. We agree access and timings in advance.
We’re CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we’re fully insured. We are also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

Do you need TR19 inspection in Waterend?
Kitchens change: a new menu, longer hours or more frying can all add grease. A cleaning interval set years ago may no longer fit.
Most sites get in touch after spotting one of these:
- Post-clean verification after another contractor’s clean
- Insurance renewals needing proof of TR19 cleaning
- Ductwork where grease may be over the TR19 limits
- Sites with gaps in their extract records
Healthcare kitchens can’t easily close, so their extracts are cleaned overnight or between meal services; the nearest hospital to Waterend is Wycombe Hospital, about 5.4 miles south-east.

How we price TR19 inspection
The survey tells us what the work involves. The main factors are:
- Site rules, permits and inductions
- The condition of the system
- The times the site is available
- Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
The cost depends on how big the system is, the condition it’s in and how easy it is to reach. You get a fixed price before work begins, so there are no surprises.
Helping us quote
When you call or email, it’s useful to have:
- The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
- When the site is open and when it’s quiet
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
- Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
We don’t publish a price list, because every site is different. Instead, we look at your site first, from photos or a survey, then send a fixed quote. To get going, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.
The process
When we arrive, we check the system against the survey or the pictures you sent. Anything unexpected is raised with you before we go further. After that, the work takes an hour or two for a single kitchen, longer for a large or complex system. A quick note on how to find the site and where to park makes a visit to Waterend run smoothly.
- We go through any past certificates and reports.
- We follow the extract from canopy to discharge.
- We note where access panels are and where more are needed.
- Grease readings are taken and pictures recorded.
- We report back with readings and a fixed quote.
Before we arrive
- Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
- Find the previous report, if there is one
- Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
Get a fixed quote
Every quote begins with a look at the system, from your pictures and details or, where that isn’t enough, a survey on site. After that, you get a fixed price for the work so you know the cost before work begins.

How the job changes from site to site
Extract fan and discharge
Grease on the fan adds to wear. Readings show if it needs attention before the next clean.
Vertical risers
Access to risers is often limited. We record what can and can’t be reached.
What a clean will not put right
We will always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what TR19 inspection won’t do:
- Sections with no access, until panels are fitted
- Fire safety duties beyond the extract system
- Ductwork that was designed or installed badly
Not sure which it is? You can phone us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Grease, kitchens and Waterend
Food Standards Agency records list about 4 restaurants, cafés and canteens across Waterend and its immediate surroundings (about a mile and a half). Kitchens like these cook for very different hours, and grease testing shows which extracts need cleaning soonest. Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service covers Waterend. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises. Kitchens in Waterend get their food hygiene inspections from Buckinghamshire council. Extraction counts as kitchen equipment, so its condition can come up on the day. Before-and-after pictures from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand.
If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as Radnage Church of England Primary School or anywhere near Waterend, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of St Mary, or anywhere in Waterend, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.

Common questions in Waterend
Will you come out to Waterend?
Yes, Waterend is part of our area, however small the site. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Can school kitchens in Waterend be cleaned in the holidays?
Yes. The holidays are the usual time for school work. There are about 2 schools, colleges and universities on the FSA’s food hygiene register within about 1.5 miles of Waterend. Tell us your holiday dates and we’ll book the visit for when the site is empty.
What does a pre-clean survey involve?
It’s a look at the whole extract before it’s cleaned, with readings and pictures. We can work from pictures and details, or visit, whichever suits the system.
Can we book visits on a schedule?
Yes. Regular plans can run on 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycles, depending on what the system needs.
What should I send you?
A short description and a few pictures plus the address and your hours. We’ll ask for anything else we need.
What is post-clean verification?
After a clean, we take new readings and pictures to show how the system was left. It works whoever carried out the clean.
At what point does grease need cleaning?
Two figures matter: a mean of no more than 200 microns between cleans, and 500 microns at any single point, which needs immediate spot cleaning. We show your readings against those figures.
How much time does an inspection need?
As a guide, it takes a couple of hours for a typical kitchen extract system. The size of the system and the access make the difference.
What staff can safely do
Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that’s where we come in.
Staff cleaning and specialist work aren’t the same thing. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but they do not reach the grease that builds up further in. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.
Multi-site and managed buildings
Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We cover South East England and London, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept on a regular cycle.
If you look after several sites, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Each site gets its own report and pictures, so records stay tidy.
