TR19 inspection across Moorstock

About our TR19 inspection in Moorstock

TR19® Grease says grease should not exceed a mean of 200 microns between cleans, while a reading of 500 microns or more anywhere calls for immediate spot cleaning. Testing is how you know where your system stands. The work covers post-clean checks, deposit thickness tests and insurer audits, and people most often call us about insurers asking for TR19 evidence and checking the result of a recent clean.

In a village or hamlet like Moorstock, the kitchens that need extract cleaning are typically a pub, a school, a care home or a hall kitchen, wherever there is one. Every one of them still needs its extract kept clear of grease, whatever the size of the place.

We have been trading since 2009, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we carry full insurance.

Kitchen extracts in Moorstock

The Food Standards Agency lists about 5 pubs, bars and clubs as registered food businesses within about 1.5 miles of central Moorstock. Any of them serving cooked food has an extract to keep clean, from canopy to discharge. Moorstock sits within the area of Kent Fire and Rescue Service. The Fire Safety Order puts the duty on whoever runs a kitchen to control its fire risk, and a greasy duct is fuel. In Moorstock, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Folkestone and Hythe council. Extraction counts as kitchen equipment, so its condition can come up on the day. Keeping each certificate and photo report on file helps show the extract is looked after.

A hall kitchen that only cooks for events, whether near Church of St Mary or elsewhere in Moorstock, still needs its extract cleaned, just less often. Term dates shape school work: for a school like Sellindge Primary School, an extract clean fits neatly into a half-term or summer break. Westenhanger Castle, about 1.6 miles south-east, is one of the historic houses near Moorstock; if you run event catering at a venue like that, cleans can be booked between functions.

Moorstock is about 4 miles north-west of Hythe, in Kent. Why it’s worth doing now in Moorstock

If there’s a fire or a claim, your insurer may ask for TR19 records. Missing records can put a claim at risk. An up-to-date inspection report is a good place to start. A planned visit to Moorstock is easier to arrange than an emergency callout.

The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That is why every job is surveyed first, and the price is agreed before work begins.

What affects the cost of TR19 inspection

There’s no set price list, because no two systems are the same. What we look at:

  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • The condition of the system
  • Any permits to work or inductions
  • Whether we need access equipment or extra panels

You will not find a price list here, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed quote, and we’ll talk you through it.

What to send for a quote

We can often survey from pictures. The most useful are:

  • Problems your staff have spotted
  • Wide pictures of the system and the area around it
  • The site address and the type of premises
  • When the site is open and when it’s quiet

Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in pictures, get a survey first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work starts.

What TR19 inspection can’t fix

We will not sell you work that doesn’t address the problem, so these are the things it will not cover:

  • The legal duty, which stays with the responsible person
  • Fan breakdowns, which need a repair visit
  • Parts of the duct nobody can reach yet

If in doubt, phone us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll say what we think.

Where we work

  • Pre-clean surveys
  • Wet film thickness tests
  • Access surveys
  • Post-clean checks
  • Insurer audits
  • Deposit thickness tests

What the work involves, part by part

Schools, hospitals and care homes

Inspections are planned around mealtimes and holidays so meals are not affected.

Horizontal duct runs

Bends and long runs can hold heavy deposits, out of sight of the kitchen.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

When your team notices a problem between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We can diagnose it and quote.

Staff cleaning and specialist work aren’t the same thing. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but they don’t reach the grease that builds up further in. That part needs specialist access and equipment.

How it works

There are three stages on the day: set-up, the treatment itself and the sign-off. Set-up means sheeting and making equipment safe, while signing off means the written report and pictures. The middle part takes longest, and that takes an hour or two for a single kitchen, longer for a large or complex system. Rural roads and tight entrances are worth telling us about before a visit to Moorstock.

  1. Post-clean verification is booked once the clean is done.
  2. The same access points are opened up.
  3. We repeat the WFTT or DTT readings.
  4. We photograph each area to record how it was left.
  5. The results are reported, with anything missed flagged.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
  • Find the previous report, if there is one
  • Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive

Advice

Moorstock questions

Do you work at weekends in Moorstock?

Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. That way a site in Moorstock doesn’t have to lose a day’s trading. Just call 0345 646 2711 or email us with your opening times and we will plan around them.

Who enforces fire safety at workplaces in Moorstock?

It’s Kent Fire and Rescue Service, which covers Moorstock. TR19® isn’t law, but it’s the benchmark many fire officers and insurers look to when they ask how often the extract is cleaned.

Where does the waste go?

It leaves the site with us when we go. During the work, it’s contained to keep the area clean.

What do you do to protect the area?

With sheeting and covers, before anything else happens. The work is kept contained and clean down when we finish.

What about areas you can’t get to?

We record them on the report, with pictures where possible, and we tell you what would make it reachable, for example new access panels.

Which accreditations do you hold?

BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. We’re fully insured and have been trading since 2009.

How much notice do you need?

The more notice, the better, particularly for night and weekend visits. We normally quote within one working day, and emergencies are covered by our 24/7 line.

How much does TR19 inspection cost in Moorstock?

It depends on the site, so we quote each one individually. To get one, call 0345 646 2711, or send details by email with the site type, opening hours and a few photos.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Whether it’s one building or many, the standard is the same: a survey first, a fixed quote, the work timed around the site and a report with photos.

We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we’re happy to quote for all of it.
