TR19 Inspection in Ingrave
TR19 inspection across Ingrave and nearby, booked around your opening hours and signed off in writing with photos.
- Missing TR19 certificates or history
- Systems that need surveying before cleaning
- Uncertainty over how often to clean
How it works
Your staff don’t need to do much on the day. Someone lets us in at the agreed time and shows us where everything is, and we take it from there. Before we leave, the area is tidied and the paperwork follows. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in Ingrave before we set off.
- The visit is arranged for when the kitchen isn’t busy.
- We look over the canopy, plenum, ducts, fan and discharge.
- Grease thickness is measured at set points by WFTT or DTT.
- Photos are taken at each point, and access gaps noted.
- We send a report setting out the readings, pictures and next steps.
Preparing for the visit
- Find the previous report, if there is one
- Clear the space around the work
- Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend

Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from your photos and details or, where that is not enough, a survey on site. Then we send a fixed price, before work begins.

TR19 inspection in Ingrave, done properly
TR19® Grease says grease should not exceed a mean of 200 microns between cleans, while a reading of 500 microns or more anywhere calls for immediate spot cleaning. Grease testing shows which side of those lines you’re on. Typical jobs include sections of duct that can’t be reached and insurers asking for TR19 evidence, across access surveys, pre-clean surveys and deposit thickness tests.
Work in a small place like Ingrave starts with a call to agree access and timings, and the clean covers the whole system, as it would anywhere: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.
We have been trading since 2009, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we carry full insurance.

What else we do in Ingrave
What happens if it’s left?
Post-clean verification shows whether the system was left the way the certificate says, before the next clean is due. It’s worth booking a check, because nobody sees inside a duct day to day.
One small site or a whole estate, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the timing. You will have a fixed price before work begins.

Different parts, different methods
Restaurants, pubs and hotels
A kitchen running from breakfast to late service builds grease quickly. Readings show if the cleans are frequent enough.
Canopy and plenum
The canopy itself is checked inside and out, and note where grease has gathered.
Keeping the system healthy
No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. A few tips:
- Look out for grease drips round the canopy edge
- Flag changes in how much frying the kitchen does
- Wipe the canopy surfaces regularly
- Keep to the recommended interval
You get a report with the grease readings, where they were taken and photos of each point. File it alongside your TR19 certificates.
Revisit the cleaning interval whenever the menu or hours change. A quick grease test answers the question.
TR19 inspection in Ingrave: the local picture
There are about 3 restaurants, cafés and canteens in and around Ingrave, up to about a mile and a half out, according to the Food Standards Agency’s register. A WFTT or DTT reading tells each of those kitchens whether its grease is staying under the 200-micron mean. Essex County Fire and Rescue Service covers Ingrave. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises. In Ingrave, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Brentwood council. Extraction counts as kitchen equipment, so its condition can come up on the day. Our report lists what was cleaned and when, which is useful to have ready.
Healthcare kitchens cannot easily close, so their extracts are cleaned overnight or between meal services; the nearest hospital to Ingrave is Brentwood Community Hospital, about 1.8 miles north-west. For schools such as Brentwood County High School, kitchen extract cleaning is normally booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed.
Ingrave is about 2 miles south-east of Brentwood, in Essex. We provide TR19 inspection for commercial premises of every kind in Ingrave and the rest of Essex. Our Essex coverage runs to 644 places, Ingrave among them. There’s also a page for Chelmsford, about 11 miles away.

What your team can do, and what needs us
Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but the parts you cannot see still need a specialist at the right interval.
Keep a record of what your team does. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, alongside our reports.
When to call us in Ingrave
Records can go missing when a business changes hands or contractors. Without them, nobody knows how much grease is in the system or when it was last cleaned.
Look out for any of the following:
- Kitchens whose menu or hours have changed
- Insurers asking for TR19 evidence
- Sections of duct that can’t be reached
- Checking the result of a recent clean
Church and community hall kitchens, near Church of St Nicholas or anywhere around Ingrave, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other.

When something else is needed
In fairness, some problems need a different fix:
- Mechanical faults in the extract
- Parts of the duct nobody can reach yet
- Design faults in the extract system

Ingrave: your questions answered
Is Ingrave within the area you cover?
Yes, Ingrave is part of our area, however small the site. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.
Which fire and rescue service is responsible for Ingrave?
It’s Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, which covers Ingrave. A recent cleaning certificate and a note of the next clean date show that grease in the extract is being managed.
How often should a kitchen extract be inspected?
It depends on how heavily the kitchen cooks. BESA’s minimum cleaning intervals are every 3, 6 or 12 months for heavy, moderate and light use, and testing shows if your kitchen needs more.
Do you work with multi-site operators?
Yes. We work across South East England and London, so we can schedule a run of sites as one programme. Each site gets its own report and photos.
Are you accredited?
We hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. Vent Hygiene Elite is run by BESCA and independently audited.
What do the grease readings need to be?
The TR19® Grease figures are a mean of 200 microns or less between cleans, and immediate spot cleaning wherever a reading hits 500 microns. Our report sets your readings against both.
Can we book visits on a schedule?
Yes. We run scheduled maintenance contracts, set at the interval the system needs. The report from each visit recommends the next date.
Which sectors do you work in?
Any site with a kitchen or a ventilation system to look after, from a single café to a large school. Hotels, schools, care homes, offices, shops and leisure sites are all part of our work.
