About our TR19 inspection in Hordle
After a clean, post-clean verification checks the result, with fresh grease readings, photos and a look at the areas that were cleaned. It gives you evidence of how the system was actually left. The work covers post-clean checks, deposit thickness tests and pre-clean surveys, and people most often call us about sites with gaps in their extract records and checking the result of a recent clean.
In a smaller place like Hordle, the kitchens with extract systems are more likely to be a pub, a café, a takeaway or a school or care home kitchen than a big restaurant. Quieter kitchens still collect grease in the duct, just more slowly, so the interval is set by hours of use and grease readings.
Insurers, fire officers and environmental health officers all look at records. So every job comes with a written report and pictures, plus a TR19® certificate through the BESCA VHE portal where the work is a TR19® Grease clean.

Questions from Hordle
Can you get to a site in Hordle?
Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Hordle included. A survey first, from pictures or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.
Do you clean school canteen extracts around Hordle out of term?
Yes. The holidays are the usual time for school work. Around Hordle, the Food Standards Agency lists about 3 schools and colleges with registered kitchens within a mile and a half or so. Send us your term dates when you call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form, and we will fit the work in.
Which accreditations do you hold?
We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we are fully insured.
Can you set up regular visits?
Yes. We run scheduled maintenance contracts, with visits at the interval your system needs. Each report recommends when the next visit should be.
Is there a survey before the work?
Yes, always. We diagnose before we treat: the survey shows what needs doing and what access we need, and the quote is based on that.
What do you do with what you remove?
It leaves the site with us when we go. During the work, it’s contained so the area stays clean.
Can you inspect our extract for our insurance company?
Yes. We inspect the system and produce a report with grease readings, pictures and any inaccessible areas. You can pass it straight to your insurer or broker.
Can you work evenings and weekends?
Yes. Give us your opening hours with your enquiry and we will book around them.
Aftercare tips
How long the results last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:
- Store grease readings where your insurer can see them
- Tell us if menus or opening hours change
- Keep to the recommended interval
- Have the latest report ready for insurance renewals
Any access problems we found are listed with a suggested fix. Fitting them before the next clean means the whole system gets done.
Regular grease readings keep the cleaning interval honest. It shows if build-up is speeding up.
Why it’s worth doing now in Hordle
Without readings, you are guessing when to clean. If grease reaches 500 microns anywhere, TR19® Grease calls for immediate spot cleaning, which you won’t know without measuring. When a site near Hordle shuts unexpectedly, the people who rely on it notice at once.
When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is can all change the price. We take each of them into account and give you a fixed price before any work starts.
Why book with us
- Fixed quotes, usually within one working day
- We are fully insured

TR19 inspection around Hordle
Hordle lies within about 2 miles of the sea. Salt air speeds up corrosion of roof-level fans, discharge cowls and their fixings. The FSA’s food hygiene register includes about 9 bars, pubs and nightclubs within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Hordle. Breakfasts, bar meals and functions all put grease into the extract wherever they’re cooked. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service covers Hordle. The Fire Safety Order puts the duty on whoever runs a kitchen to control its fire risk, and a greasy duct is fuel.
If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Lymington New Forest Hospital about 3.3 miles east, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen. School kitchens, at schools like Hordle CofE (VA) Primary School for example, are usually cleaned in the holidays so no lunches are lost. Older buildings often hide long, awkward duct runs, and if you run a kitchen at a historic venue in the area (Highcliffe Castle is about 4.4 miles west), access may need planning.
Hordle is about 3 miles west of Lymington, in Hampshire. Across the SO41 area, we can carry out TR19 inspection at your premises. 683 places in Hampshire are on our list, large and small. For sites nearby, see our Southampton page (15 miles or so).
Work in SO41 is surveyed, quoted and booked the same way as anywhere else. Local streets include Yerville Gardens, Acacia Road and Woodlands, all of which we cover for TR19 inspection. Other places close to Hordle include Downton (1 mile south), Leagreen (1 mile south), Ashley (1 mile west), Tiptoe (2 miles north) and New Milton (2 miles west). Within a short drive, we also cover Totton (12 miles north-east), Lymington (3 miles east), Hythe (12 miles north-east), Ringwood (9 miles north-west), Dibden Purlieu (11 miles north-east) and Marchwood (12 miles north-east).

Part by part
Vertical risers
Risers can be hard to get into. The survey shows exactly what access there is.
Canopy and plenum
We look over the canopy, inside and out, and note where grease has gathered.
In-house cleaning or a specialist?
Staff cleaning and specialist work aren’t the same thing. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. That part needs specialist access and equipment.
Logging matters as much as cleaning. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, next to our reports.
What else we do in Hordle
How we price TR19 inspection
You will get a fixed price before work begins. It takes into account:
- The size of the system
- The condition of the system
- Parking and loading at the site
- Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
We do not list prices on the website, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. Call for a fixed quote, and we will talk you through it.
What to send for a quote
When you call or email, it’s useful to have:
- The postcode and the type of business
- Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
Quoting starts with a diagnosis, either from photos and details you send or from a site visit. Then we send a fixed price so you know the cost before we start.
How it works
Each visit runs to the same pattern: sheeting and protection first, make the system safe, carry out the TR19 inspection, tidy up and hand over the paperwork. On site, the work takes around an hour or two per canopy and duct system. A site near Hordle typically has room to park, so the questions are about access to the system and your hours.
- We go through any past certificates and reports.
- The layout is traced from the canopy to the discharge.
- Access panels are located and any missing ones noted.
- We measure the grease and photograph each point.
- We report back with readings and a fixed quote.
Getting ready for the visit
- Clear loose items from the work area
- Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
- Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
Get a fixed quote
Some systems can be priced from pictures; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.

When something else is needed
To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:
- Mechanical faults in the extract
- The legal duty, which stays with the responsible person
- The grease itself, which needs a full or spot clean
