TR19 inspection around Hawridge
The FSA’s food hygiene register shows about 3 restaurants, cafés and works canteens within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Hawridge. Where they cook under a canopy, a grease reading is the way to tell whether the extract is due a clean. The fire and rescue service for Hawridge is Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract. Food hygiene inspections in Hawridge are the job of Buckinghamshire council’s environmental health team. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector.
Where a hall near Church of St Mary, or anywhere in Hawridge, hosts lunch clubs or events, its extract gathers grease just as a café’s does. Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Chiltern Hospital (about 4.9 miles south-west), often cook for long hours, which puts them in BESA’s heavier-use bands.

About our TR19 inspection in Hawridge
If you’ve taken over a kitchen in Hawridge and do not know when the extract was last cleaned, an inspection is the place to start. You get readings, pictures and a clear view of what’s needed, before any cleaning is booked. The work covers insurer audits, post-clean checks and pre-clean surveys, and people most often call us about systems that need surveying before cleaning and extracts that may be over the 200 micron mean.
In a small place like Hawridge, kitchens are often in older or extended buildings, with long single-storey duct runs, where grease settles in the flat sections. We agree access and timings in advance.
The report is your system’s health record: a dated account with photos of everything we did. Grease extract cleans are also certificated to TR19® Grease through the BESCA VHE portal and sits alongside the report.

Multi-site and managed buildings
If you look after several sites, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Every building has its own written report, so each one has its own record.
When the building owner and the occupier are different, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We can quote either party and send the paperwork to whoever needs it.
What staff can safely do
Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but the parts you cannot see still need a specialist at the right interval.
Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, and that is where we come in.
Part by part
Restaurants, pubs and hotels
Kitchens that cook for long hours build up grease faster. Regular testing shows whether the cleaning interval keeps up.
Schools, hospitals and care homes
Education kitchens need TR19 inspections like any other. Testing shows whether the interval suits.
Hawridge: your questions answered
Will you come out to Hawridge?
Yes. Hawridge is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.
Who carries out food hygiene inspections in Hawridge?
In Hawridge, it’s Buckinghamshire council that carries out food hygiene inspections. Have your latest TR19® certificate and photo report to hand, as an officer may ask how the extract is maintained.
How long does a TR19 inspection take?
Typically, the inspection takes an hour or two for a single kitchen, longer for a large or complex system. System size and access decide the rest.
What does TR19 inspection cost?
The cost depends on the size of the system, its condition, access and timing. Call for a fixed quote, typically ready within one working day.
What happens to the waste?
Waste is contained during the work and removed when we leave, from grease and debris to used cleaning water. We don’t leave it behind.
At what point does grease need cleaning?
TR19® Grease says the mean shouldn’t exceed 200 microns between cleans, and anywhere at 500 microns or more needs spot cleaning straight away.
Is TR19 a legal requirement?
No. TR19® is BESA’s specification and the industry benchmark, not legislation. The legal duty comes from the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which requires the responsible person to reduce fire risk, and insurers, fire officers and EHOs look to TR19® as the benchmark.
When should we have our next grease test?
Enough to be sure grease stays within the TR19® Grease figures between cleans. If readings rise, the interval should shorten.
Keeping the system healthy
After the visit, a few habits help the work last:
- Tell us if menus or opening hours change
- Never cook with filters missing
- Book the next test on the date in the report
- Send TR19 audit reports to your insurer on request
After post-clean verification, file the results with the cleaning certificate. Together they show the system was cleaned and checked.
Regular grease readings keep the cleaning interval honest. It spots changes in how fast grease builds.

Why it’s worth doing now in Hawridge
If there’s a fire or a claim, your insurer may ask for TR19 records. Without them, a claim can be reduced or refused. An up-to-date inspection report is a good place to start. It’s simpler to plan the work at Hawridge now than to arrange it in a hurry later.
The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why every job is surveyed first, and why the quote is fixed before work begins.

How the visit works
We are used to working while the site is closed. Evenings, nights and weekends are when much of our work happens, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. On site, the work takes around an hour or two per canopy and duct system. If you can send photos, we can arrive in Hawridge knowing what to expect.
- First we book a time that won’t disrupt cooking.
- We look over the canopy, plenum, ducts, fan and discharge.
- We take WFTT or DTT readings at set points along the system.
- We photograph the test points and record any sections we cannot reach.
- The findings go into a report with readings, photos and a recommended next clean.
Before we arrive
- Clear the space around the work
- Agree a time when the area can be out of use
- Arrange a key holder or contact on site
Getting a quote
There’s no standard price list, because no two systems are the same. Instead, we look at your site first, from photos or a survey, then send a fixed quote. To start, call 0345 646 2711 or send us an email.

Signs you need TR19 inspection in Hawridge
Grease builds up as cooking vapour cools inside the extract. The thickest layers can sit out of sight in the plenum, at bends and along flat runs.
Look out for any of the following:
- Sites with gaps in their extract records
- Sections of duct that cannot be reached
- Checking the result of a recent clean
- An insurer’s request for a TR19 audit
For schools such as Hawridge and Cholesbury Church of England School, kitchen extract cleaning is usually booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed.
