TR19 inspections in Beech
TR19 inspection across Beech and nearby, timed so the site keeps working and signed off in writing with photos.
- Cleaning intervals that may not suit the kitchen
- Sections of duct that can’t be reached
- Checking the result of a recent clean
How we handle TR19 inspection in Beech
A pre-clean survey is the diagnosis, and the clean is the treatment. We look at the system, take grease readings and photograph what we find, so the clean can be planned properly. The work covers access surveys, post-clean checks and wet film thickness tests, and people most often call us about heavy grease suspected in the plenum or ducts and missing TR19 certificates or history.
Work in a small place like Beech starts with a call to agree access and timings, and the clean itself is the same full TR19® job as in any town: canopy to discharge, then a TR19® certificate and a photo report.
Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured. On top of that, we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

What TR19 inspection looks like in Beech
Food Standards Agency data counts about 3 cafés, restaurants and staff canteens within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Beech. Kitchens like these cook for very different hours, and grease testing shows which extracts need cleaning soonest. Beech sits within the area of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk. Environmental health officers from East Hampshire council inspect food businesses in Beech. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector.
If you run catering at a historic house or estate in the area (Bentworth Hall is about 1.5 miles west), event kitchens in older buildings often have awkward duct runs that need planning. For schools such as Amery Hill School, kitchen extract cleaning is usually booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed. Healthcare kitchens cannot easily close, so their extracts are cleaned overnight or between meal services; the nearest hospital to Beech is Alton Community Hospital, about 1.2 miles east.

What happens if it’s left?
Surveying first means the clean goes to plan. Access problems are spotted in advance rather than on the night, so the clean covers the whole system. Somewhere as small as Beech, losing a kitchen or building to a fault is felt by everyone who uses it.
Several systems or sites on one quote often makes better use of the time. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at and we will price it together.

Questions from Beech
Do you work overnight in Beech?
Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. It means the site in Beech keeps running as normal. Let us know the hours you are closed and we’ll book within them.
Who is the fire and rescue service for Beech?
Fire safety enforcement in Beech is handled by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. It’s worth keeping your fire risk assessment, TR19® certificates and photo reports together, ready to show.
Do you have a 24/7 line?
Yes, any time. If something urgent happens, like a fan failing or damage after a fire, call our 24/7 line and we’ll talk you through the next steps.
What do you do to protect the area?
By covering it before any work starts. We keep the work contained and leave the area clean.
Can we book visits on a schedule?
Yes. Tell us what you have and how it’s used, and we will suggest a schedule and quote for it.
Do you survey before quoting?
Yes. Every job is surveyed first, either from pictures and details you send or on a site visit. A fixed quote follows.
What about areas you cannot get to?
Anything we can’t reach goes on the report, with a note of where it is, and we explain what access is needed, for example new access panels.
Can you verify a clean after it’s been done?
Verification means repeat readings and photos once the clean is done. Any areas that weren’t cleaned properly are flagged.
How we price TR19 inspection
The quote reflects the site in front of us. We consider:
- The size of the system
- Whether several sites go on one quote
- The condition of the system
- How easy every part is to reach
Every site is different, so each one gets its own fixed quote. Size, access, the condition of the system and when we can work all play a part.
Helping us quote
There’s no need for technical detail. Just send:
- Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
- Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
- Problems your staff have spotted
We don’t publish a price list, because every site is different. Instead, we look at your site first, from pictures or a survey, then send a fixed quote. To get going, call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.
Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.
Some jobs should never be done in-house: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings need training, the right equipment and safe access. Leave those to us.
When it’s something else
We will not sell you work that doesn’t address the problem, so here are the limits:
- Heavy deposits found on test, which still need cleaning
- Ductwork that was designed or installed badly
- Mechanical faults in the extract
If you’re not sure, just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer.
Where we work
- Pre-clean surveys

How the visit works
When we arrive, we check the system against the survey or the photos you sent. Anything unexpected is raised with you before we go further. After that, the work takes an hour or two for a single kitchen, longer for a large or complex system. Photos of the system and how to reach it help us plan a visit to Beech.
- Post-clean verification is booked once the clean is done.
- The same access points are opened up.
- We repeat the WFTT or DTT readings.
- Photos are taken to show the condition after the clean.
- The results are reported, with anything missed flagged.
Preparing for the visit
- Clear the space around the work
- Let us know about parking and loading
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
Ask for a quote
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.

For landlords and multi-site operators
Keeping records across a portfolio is half the battle. Each visit produces a dated report with pictures, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, and that can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, a facilities manager or a managing agent. Where responsibility is shared, records matter even more.
What the work involves, part by part
Schools, hospitals and care homes
We fit testing around service times and school holidays so meals aren’t affected.
Canopy and plenum
Behind the filters, the plenum catches plenty of grease. Readings and photos are taken in the plenum as part of every survey.
