Our kitchen extract cleaning service in SO30
Has the extract gone a while without a clean, or has the paperwork gone missing? Just call 0345 646 2711 or send us an email with pictures of the canopy and filters, and we will come back with a fixed price for the work in SO30, usually within one working day. The work covers extract fans, canopies and hoods and plenums and filters, and people most often call us about an extract that has never been cleaned to TR19 and missing paperwork after a change of operator.
There are three stages on the day: getting the area ready, doing the work and signing it off. Set-up means sheeting and making equipment safe, and the sign-off is a written report with pictures. Most of the time goes on the work itself, which takes anything from a few hours to a full night, depending on the size of the system.
- You send pictures or we visit, and the system is surveyed from canopy to discharge.
- We take grease readings at set points and send you a fixed quote.
- The kitchen is closed, the equipment cooled and everything nearby protected.
- Filters, canopy and plenum are cleaned, then the ducts, risers, fan and discharge.
- We re-test, photograph and send your certificate and photo report.

Kitchen extract cleaning across SO30: local notes
In SO30, a busy kitchen in a place such as Eastleigh, Hedge End and West End and a quiet village kitchen need very different cleaning intervals. The right interval comes from hours of use and grease readings.
Much of our work across London and the South East happens in the evening, overnight or at weekends, so sites in SO30 can keep trading. Coastal kitchens in SO30 often have their busiest months in the summer, so it pays to book work around the busy season.
Hedge End: Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Moorgreen Hospital (about 1.2 miles north-west), often cook for long hours, which puts them in BESA’s heavier-use bands. If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as Shamblehurst Primary School or anywhere near Hedge End, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean.
What kitchen extract cleaning cannot fix
We’d rather tell you now than book work that will not help, so these are the things it won’t cover:
- Fat blocking the kitchen drains
- Faulty fire dampers in the duct
- A duct that is holed or coming apart
Different parts, different methods
Ductwork and risers
Risers take the extract up through floors to roof level, and grease often collects at the bottom of them. Access panels along the riser let us clean it in sections.
Canopy and plenum
Canopies vary from a single hood to long runs over several appliances, every section is cleaned and recorded in the photo report before and after.
For landlords and multi-site operators
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, which may be the employer, owner, landlord, FM or managing agent. Where responsibility is shared, records matter even more.
Where a tenant occupies the premises but the landlord owns the building, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We can quote either party, and the report can go to both.
Why it fails
Cooking fat leaves the pan as a fine vapour. As the air cools on its way through the duct, the fat condenses and sticks, and the layer grows a little with every meal cooked. The grease filters stop some, never all of it.
If you notice any of these, it’s worth a diagnosis:
- Poor airflow at the canopy
- Extraction mentioned at an environmental health visit
- A kitchen with no current TR19 certificate
- Missing paperwork after a change of operator
Fixed quotes for kitchen extract cleaning in SO30
Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We check:
- How easy every part is to reach
- Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
- The condition of the system
- Parking and loading at the site
What you pay reflects the actual work. That’s why we survey first, from photos or on site, and the price is agreed before work begins.
What to send for a quote
When you call or email, it’s useful to have:
- Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
- Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
- Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
Want a quote for kitchen extract cleaning? Please call us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and tell us about the site. We will talk you through the work and give you a fixed quote before you commit to anything.
SO30 questions
How much notice do you need?
That depends on the slot you want and the size of the job. Mention your preferred dates with your enquiry, and if it’s an emergency, call us any time.
Can you set up regular visits?
Yes. Scheduled maintenance plans are part of what we do, set at the interval the system needs. The report from each visit recommends the next date.
Is TR19 a legal requirement?
TR19® is BESA’s specification, not legislation. The law is the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which makes the responsible person assess and reduce fire risk, and cleaning to TR19 is the recognised way to show you’ve dealt with extract grease.
Will my insurer ask for a TR19 certificate?
Grease-filled ducts can carry fire well beyond the kitchen. Many insurers require TR19 cleaning, and may refuse or reduce a claim without proof, so keep every certificate.
Are you a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member?
We are members of Vent Hygiene Elite, the scheme run by BESCA, and we clean to BESA TR19® Grease. We hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 too, and we’re fully insured.
When do you clean the extract?
The clean is done when the kitchen isn’t cooking, working evenings, overnight or at weekends to suit you. Equipment needs to be off and cool before work begins.
What about areas you cannot get to?
They’re listed in the report, never skipped quietly. You will know exactly which parts weren’t reached and why, and we can quote to improve the access.
