Our kitchen extract cleaning service in RG18
We’ve been trading since 2009, cleaning kitchen extracts across the South East and London. As a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, we clean to BESA TR19® Grease, and we’re fully insured, with CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. Typical jobs include proof of cleaning requested by an insurer and years of baked-on grease in the ducts, across canopies and hoods, horizontal duct runs and plenums and filters.
Your trading hours come first. We book the visit for a time the area is closed, whether that is an evening, overnight or a weekend. When the team arrives, the work area is protected and the relevant equipment is switched off to cool, and the work takes as long as the system needs, from a few hours to several planned visits.
- You send photos or we visit, and the system is surveyed from canopy to discharge.
- Grease thickness is measured and the price is fixed before work starts.
- On the night, the equipment is off and cool and the kitchen is sheeted.
- Filters, canopy and plenum are cleaned, then the ducts, risers, fan and discharge.
- We re-test, photograph and send your certificate and photo report.
What you’ll pay
One small site or a whole estate, we price it on the same basis: what needs doing, how we get to it and when. The price is fixed before we start.
Why choose Duct Doctor
- Survey first, then a fixed quote
- A written report with photos after every visit
- CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001
- Trading since 2009
How to get a quote
Every quote begins with a look at the system, from your photos and details or, where that is not enough, a survey on site. Then we send a fixed price so you know the cost before we start.
Near you in Hermitage
Locally, jobs take us to businesses close to The White Horse pub, Hermitage Primary School and Holy Trinity, among other places. For rail, the closest station is Newbury Racecourse station, about 4 miles south. Other landmarks nearby include Hampstead Norris Castle (2.4 miles north-east) and West Berkshire Community Hospital (3.3 miles south). For a walk, there’s Snelsmore Common.
Kitchen extracts across RG18
Across RG18, from Newbury, Thatcham and Shaw outwards, kitchens range from town-centre restaurants and takeaways to pubs, hotels, schools and care homes. Every one gets the same full TR19® clean, from the canopy to the discharge.
Across London and the South East, we work evenings, overnight and weekends, so sites in RG18 can keep trading.
Hermitage: Term dates shape school work: for a school like Hermitage Primary School, an extract clean fits neatly into a half-term or summer break. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Holy Trinity, or anywhere in Hermitage, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.
What staff can safely do
For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.
Staff cleaning does not replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.
What kitchen extract cleaning cannot fix
Some problems need a different service or another trade:
- A fan motor that has burnt out
- A grease trap that needs emptying
- Damaged duct sections that need replacing
What we’re called out for in RG18
It’s common for parts of a duct to have been missed for years. Most of the time it’s because there were never enough access panels, so nobody could get to them. That hidden grease keeps building where nobody looks.
What we are most often called out for:
- A new tenancy or takeover with no cleaning history
- A smoky, hot kitchen with weak extraction
- Extraction mentioned at an environmental health visit
- Heavy grease build-up inside the duct runs
What the work involves, part by part
Grease filters
Between TR19 cleans, filters still need regular cleaning, and a filter exchange service can take that off your hands. Clean filters slow the build-up further down the system.
Canopy and plenum
Whether it’s one hood or a long island canopy, each section is cleaned and photographed before and after.
Managing agents and facilities teams in RG18
We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the site, the work and the access arrangements and we will come back with a fixed quote.
Where a tenant occupies the premises but the landlord owns the building, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We can quote either party, and the report can go to both.
Questions from RG18
Do you cover RG18?
Yes. We work across Greater London, Surrey, Kent, Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, RG18 included.
Which sectors do you work in?
We work for restaurants, pubs, hotels, schools, colleges, hospitals, care homes, offices and shops, as well as food production and leisure sites.
Do you clean the whole extract system or just the canopy?
Everything from canopy to discharge: the canopy, the plenum behind the filters, the filters, horizontal ducts, vertical risers, the fan and the discharge, plus attenuators where fitted. Anything we can’t reach is recorded on the report.
Can you look after several sites?
Yes. Tell us the addresses and what each needs and you’ll get one fixed quote.
What happens if you cannot reach some of it?
They’re marked on the report. Often the fix is extra access, such as new panels in ductwork, and we can fit those.
How much does kitchen extract cleaning cost?
Size, condition, access and working hours all affect the cost. Call for a fixed quote and we’ll typically reply within one working day.
Do insurers need proof of extract cleaning?
Grease-filled ducts can carry fire well beyond the kitchen. Many policies say the extract must be cleaned to TR19, and a claim may be reduced without proof, so keep every certificate.
