For TR19 kitchen extract cleaning in Woodlands, one call covers the survey, the clean and the paperwork, wherever you are in Hampshire.

We clean every reachable part of the system in Woodlands: canopy, plenum, filters, ducts, risers and fan, and the discharge where it can be reached.

Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, where grease settles in the flat sections. Access, parking and timings are agreed before the day.

Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured. On top of that, we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we have been trading since 2009.

Kitchen extract cleaning around Woodlands

The FSA’s food hygiene register includes about 6 pubs, bars and clubs in Woodlands and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. Where they serve hot food, their kitchen extracts need cleaning to TR19® like any restaurant’s. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service covers Woodlands. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises. Food hygiene inspections in Woodlands are the job of New Forest council’s environmental health team. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. Our report lists what was cleaned and when, which is useful to have ready.

If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Ashurst Hospital about 0.9 miles south-east, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen. Bursars and site managers at schools such as Netley Marsh Church of England Infant School tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty. If you cook for passing trade around Ashurst New Forest station, the extract can be cleaned between your last and first customer.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

Keep a record of what your team does. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, alongside our reports.

Part by part

Grease filters

We clean the grease filters as part of the job, and refitted so they sit properly in the housing. Damaged ones are noted on the report.

Ductwork and risers

Horizontal runs collect grease as the air slows and cools. Each run is cleaned through its access panels, recording any that can’t be reached.

What affects the cost of kitchen extract cleaning

The survey tells us what the work involves. The main factors are:

  • Site rules, permits and inductions
  • How many systems or sites are involved
  • Where the site is and how we reach it
  • How big the system is

Every site is different, so each one gets its own fixed quote. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all play a part.

Asking for a quote

Many jobs can be priced from photos and some basics. Send what you can of the following:

  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
  • Any access panels or hatches you can see

Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before work begins.

What kitchen extract cleaning cannot fix

Not every problem is solved by kitchen extract cleaning, and we’d rather say so up front. It doesn’t solve:

  • A fan motor or bearings that have failed (that needs a fan repair or replacement)
  • Blocked drains from a neglected grease trap (a separate service)
  • Ductwork that’s corroded, split or leaking (that’s for a ductwork contractor)

If you’re not sure, just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

What the work covers

  • Horizontal duct runs

Your questions about kitchen extract cleaning in Woodlands

Can a school canteen extract in Woodlands be done out of term time?

Yes, and it’s the easiest time to do it. Food Standards Agency records list about 4 schools, colleges and universities with registered kitchens within about a mile and a half of Woodlands. Tell us your holiday dates and we’ll book the visit for when the site is empty.

Who would carry out a food hygiene inspection at a kitchen in Woodlands?

Food hygiene inspections in Woodlands are carried out by New Forest council. It helps to keep the extract cleaning records with your food safety paperwork, so they’re ready if asked for.

What does TR19 mean?

It’s BESA’s specification and the benchmark insurers, fire officers and EHOs look to. It sets out inspection, cleaning and record keeping and expects a risk-based approach.

Can you quote from photos?

Yes, for many jobs. Send wide shots, close-ups of any access panels and anything that worries you, and a fixed quote normally follows within one working day. Some sites still need a visit, and we will say so.

How long does it take to clean a kitchen extract system?

A small kitchen with a short duct can be done in a few hours, while long runs and tall risers take longer and may need more than one visit. Your quote says how long to expect.

Do you look at the system first?

Yes. Photos often do the job, and larger or hidden systems get a visit.

Can you look after several sites?

Yes. Our area covers London and the South East, so sites at different addresses can be planned together as one programme. Each site gets its own report and photos.

Do you clean the whole extract system or just the canopy?

A TR19 Grease clean covers the full extract route, not just the canopy. That means canopy, plenum, filters, ducts, risers, fan and discharge, reached through access panels where needed.

Leave it or put it right?

After a fire, one of the first questions is often when the extract was last cleaned. Many policies require cleaning to TR19, and an insurer can refuse or reduce a claim without proof. A current certificate is far easier to produce than an explanation. Rural sites can’t always move to another kitchen or room when something fails.

Whatever the type of site, the quote works the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Ask for a fixed quote and we’ll explain each part.

Keeping the system healthy

So the system stays in good health:

  • Give the canopy a daily wipe
  • Keep the cleaning records where you can find them
  • Refit filters properly after cleaning
  • Flag any change in how the extract sounds or works

The report gives a recommended date for the next clean, based on your cooking hours and the grease we measured. A 3, 6 or 12-monthly maintenance plan keeps it on track, so the date is not missed.

Tell whoever looks after the system when something changes. Drips, odours and fan noise often mean grease is building, and a grease thickness test can confirm it.

What we do, step by step

We work around your opening hours, not the other way round. Most visits are booked for when the area is out of use, such as evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends. Once we are in, the area is sheeted and anything that has to be off is turned off and cooled, and the work takes a few hours for a small kitchen, longer for a large system. Visits to a village like Woodlands are booked in advance, at a time that suits whoever runs the site.

  1. We survey the system first, from your pictures and details or on a site visit.
  2. Grease readings are taken at set points and you get a fixed quote.
  3. Once the kitchen has closed and the equipment has cooled, we sheet and protect the area.
  4. The whole route is cleaned, from the canopy through the ductwork to the fan and the discharge.
  5. Finally the system is re-tested and photographed, and the certificate and report follow.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have your last certificate or report to hand
  • Let us know about parking and loading
  • Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time

Ask for a quote

There’s no standard price list, because no two systems are the same. Instead, we look at your site first, from pictures or a survey, then send a fixed quote. To start, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.
