Our technicians work in Surrex on kitchen extract cleaning. Out-of-hours visits, a fixed quote and a written report with pictures on every job.

  • Grease dripping from the canopy or filters
  • Ductwork thick with old, hardened grease
  • A smoky, hot kitchen with weak extraction

Kitchen extract cleaning near Surrex

Looking after it afterwards

Results last longer with the right care. We suggest:

  • Report grease drips, smells or fan noise straight away
  • Keep to the recommended cleaning interval
  • Clean grease off the canopy surfaces regularly
  • Wash or exchange the filters often

The kitchen is left clean and ready for the next service. Waste grease and water are contained and removed, so you can start cooking as normal.

Regular filter cleaning is the simplest thing a kitchen can do. A filter that’s clean and seated properly stops more grease getting into the plenum, so the ductwork stays cleaner for longer.

Commercial kitchen extraction cleaning in Surrex

We’ve been trading since 2009, cleaning kitchen extracts across the South East and London. We are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 and are fully insured. If you have an extract that no longer clears the smoke and cleaning needed before an insurance renewal or survey, we can help. When a restaurant in Surrex asks for duct cleaning, it’s nearly always the kitchen extract they mean, and that is exactly what we do: the whole run from hood to roof, cleaned to TR19® Grease.

Before we clean, we look at where the grease is: wet film or deposit thickness readings show which parts of the duct need the most attention, and the same readings after the clean show the result.

Work in a small place like Surrex starts with a call to agree access and timings, and the clean covers the whole system, as it would anywhere: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.

Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

What the work involves, part by part

Restaurant and pub kitchens

Restaurants and pubs tend to cook long hours with plenty of frying and grilling, which can put them in BESA’s 3 or 6-monthly bands. We clean after close or before opening.

Ductwork and risers

Bends and changes of direction trap more grease than straight runs. We test at points like these before and after cleaning, so the report shows the difference.

Why deal with it now?

If there’s a fire and the extract hasn’t been cleaned, the paperwork becomes the problem. Many policies require cleaning to TR19, and an insurer can refuse or reduce a claim without proof. A certificate in the file answers that question. If the system at a site near Surrex fails, there may be nowhere nearby to move to.

Combining work into one visit or one programme can make for a more efficient booking. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at and we will price it together.

Surrex kitchens: local notes

Food Standards Agency records include about 4 pubs and bars within about 1.5 miles of central Surrex. Wherever they cook, the canopy, duct and fan collect grease just as a restaurant’s do. Essex County Fire and Rescue Service covers Surrex. The Fire Safety Order puts the duty on whoever runs a kitchen to control its fire risk, and a greasy duct is fuel. Kitchens in Surrex get their food hygiene inspections from Braintree council. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. Keeping each certificate and photo report on file helps show the extract is looked after.

Volunteers running a hall kitchen near St Peter ad Vincula, or anywhere in Surrex, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it. For schools such as Honywood Community Science School, kitchen extract cleaning is normally booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed.

Surrex questions

Can the work in Surrex be done at night or at weekends?

Yes, we can come after you close and finish before you open. The site is handed back ready to open. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.

Who inspects food businesses in Surrex?

Food hygiene inspections in Surrex are carried out by Braintree council. Have your latest TR19® certificate and photo report to hand, as an officer may ask how the extract is maintained.

Do you cover Surrex?

Yes. We work in Surrex and the rest of Essex, within our South East and London area. To book, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos.

How do you keep the site clean during the work?

With sheeting and covers, before anything else happens. The work is kept contained and leave the area clean.

How much notice should we give?

That depends on the slot you want and the size of the job. Mention your preferred dates with your enquiry, and for anything urgent, ring our 24/7 emergency line.

Does the law say I must clean to TR19?

No law names TR19 directly, but the responsible person still has a legal duty under the Fire Safety Order 2005. Insurers, fire officers and EHOs look to TR19 as the standard, and many policies require it.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes. Every job is surveyed first, from your photos and details, or with a visit where needed. Then you get a fixed quote.

What about areas you can’t get to?

They’re listed in the report, never skipped quietly. The report says which parts couldn’t be reached and why, and we can quote to improve the access.

Honest limits

We will not sell you work that doesn’t address the problem, so here are the limits:

  • Extraction that can’t cope with the cooking because of its design
  • A damper that sticks or has a damaged link
  • A duct that’s holed or coming apart

Not sure which it is? You can phone us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Extract fans
  • Plenums and filters
  • Horizontal duct runs
  • Vertical risers
  • Canopies and hoods
  • Discharge points

How the visit works

Night work is normal for us. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. On site, the work takes a single shift for most kitchens, with long duct runs and tall risers needing more time. We agree a date with you, plan the drive to Surrex and turn up when the site is quiet.

  1. First comes a survey of the whole system, by photos or a visit.
  2. Set points are tested for grease thickness and the quote is fixed before work begins.
  3. On the day, cooking equipment is switched off and left to cool, and everything nearby is sheeted.
  4. The whole route is cleaned, from the canopy through the ductwork to the fan and the discharge.
  5. Finally the system is re-tested and photographed, and the certificate and report follow.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
  • Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards

When to call us in Surrex

The type of cooking changes the amount of grease. Frying, grilling and roasting send far more fat into the canopy than steaming or boiling, which is why grease readings matter more than the calendar.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Heavy grease build-up inside the duct runs
  • A TR19 certificate needed for the insurer
  • An extract that no longer clears the smoke
  • Missing paperwork after a change of operator

Historic houses near Surrex, such as Layer Marney Tower about 5 miles south-east, are a reminder that older buildings with event kitchens can have long, awkward duct routes.

Questions to ask before booking

  • When they can work, and whether that’s outside your opening hours
  • Whether a written report and pictures are included
  • Which accreditations they hold, and whether you can check them
  • Proof of insurance

Our hiring checklist

What affects the cost of kitchen extract cleaning

You will get a fixed price before any work starts. It takes into account:

  • How easy every part is to reach
  • The condition of the system
  • Working hours and out-of-hours timing
  • Site rules, permits and inductions

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Ask for a fixed quote and we will explain each part.

Helping us quote

When you call or email, it’s useful to have:

  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
  • The times we could work without disrupting the site
  • Wide pictures of the system and the area around it
  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it

The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Add the site type and your opening hours, and we can price many jobs without a visit.
