Kitchen Extract Cleaning in Danaway
Kitchen extract cleaning in Danaway from ventilation hygiene specialists trading since 2009. Evenings, overnight and weekends, plus a 24/7 emergency line.
- Fat running down the canopy edge
- An overdue clean flagged by an EHO or fire officer
- An extract that has never been cleaned to TR19
Kitchen duct cleaning in Danaway
A kitchen extract system is far more than the canopy you can see. Behind it sit the plenum and grease filters, then the ductwork, risers, extract fan and discharge, and grease settles in every one of them. Our clean follows the air from canopy to discharge, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. Typical jobs include poor airflow at the canopy and a kitchen with no current TR19 certificate, across extract fans, canopies and hoods and horizontal duct runs. Need a TR19 duct cleaning contractor for Danaway? We have been cleaning kitchen extracts across the South East since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member.
The fire risk in a kitchen extract sits in the parts nobody sees: the plenum, the duct and the fan, which is why a TR19® clean in Danaway goes well beyond the canopy.
In a village or hamlet like Danaway, the kitchens that need extract cleaning are typically a pub, a school, a care home or a hall kitchen, wherever there is one. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease.
Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

How the job changes from site to site
Schools, hospitals and care homes
Some healthcare kitchens never fully close. Cleans are planned between meals or overnight, so residents and patients aren’t disturbed.
Restaurant and pub kitchens
Losing a service isn’t an option for most restaurants and pubs. We work overnight and at weekends where that suits, and hand back a clean kitchen ready to cook.
Why it’s worth doing now in Danaway
Environmental health officers inspect food businesses, in Danaway as everywhere else, and they look at the cleanliness of the premises and equipment, extraction included. A clean extract is one less thing to worry about on the day. Our emergency line runs 24/7, but a planned visit to Danaway is calmer for everyone.
One small site or a whole estate, the quote is built the same way: the work involved, the access and the timing. You will have a fixed price before we start.

The process
The first job on site is protection: floors, worktops and anything near the work are covered. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. It takes as long as the system needs, from a few hours to several planned visits, and we clear up before we go. For a village or hamlet like Danaway, tell us about narrow lanes, gates and parking when you book.
- We survey the system, from your photos or on site, canopy to discharge.
- We take grease readings at set points and give you a fixed quote.
- The kitchen is closed, the equipment cooled and everything nearby protected.
- We work through the system from the canopy to the fan and discharge.
- Readings are repeated, pictures taken, and your TR19 certificate and photo report issued.
Getting ready for the visit
- Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards

When something else is needed
Not every problem is solved by kitchen extract cleaning, and we’d rather say so up front. It won’t put right:
- Ductwork that is corroded, split or leaking (that is for a ductwork contractor)
- A damper that sticks or has a damaged link
- A fan motor or bearings that have failed (that needs a fan repair or replacement)
If you’re not sure, just phone us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we’ll give you a straight answer.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?
For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.
Staff cleaning and specialist work aren’t the same thing. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but they don’t reach the grease that builds up further in. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.
Multi-site and managed buildings
If you look after several sites, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Every building has its own written report, so each one has its own record.
When the building owner and the occupier are different, the lease normally sets out who maintains what. We can quote either party, and the report can go to both.
FAQs for Danaway
Which fire service covers Danaway?
It’s Kent Fire and Rescue Service, which covers Danaway. If a fire safety officer visits a commercial kitchen, they may ask about the fire risk assessment and how the extract is kept clean.
Who inspects food businesses in Danaway?
Kitchens in Danaway are inspected by Swale council’s environmental health officers. Have your latest TR19® certificate and photo report to hand, as an officer may ask how the extract is maintained.
What happens to the waste?
It’s contained and taken away. We collect grease, debris and waste water as we go, so it doesn’t spread.
Can you look after several sites?
Yes. We work across South East England and London, so we can schedule a run of sites on one programme. Every site has its own report.
Do we have to close the kitchen for the clean?
When the kitchen is closed, at whatever time suits you. We need the equipment cool, and we leave the kitchen ready to cook.
What types of premises do you cover?
We work for restaurants, pubs, hotels, schools, colleges, hospitals, care homes, offices and shops, as well as food production and leisure sites.
Will my insurer ask for a TR19 certificate?
Extract grease is fuel for a kitchen fire, so many insurers want evidence it’s being cleaned to TR19. Each clean gives you a certificate and photo report to show them.
How long does a kitchen extract clean take?
That depends on the size of the system, the amount of grease and the number of access points. Most jobs take anything from a few hours to a full night, depending on the size of the system.
Danaway kitchens: local notes
The FSA’s data shows about 6 pubs, bars and clubs registered in Danaway and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. Breakfasts, bar meals and functions all put grease into the extract wherever they’re cooked. It’s Swale council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Danaway. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked. Danaway sits within the area of Kent Fire and Rescue Service. The Fire Safety Order puts the duty on whoever runs a kitchen to control its fire risk, and a greasy duct is fuel.
School kitchens, at schools like Borden Church of England Primary School for example, are normally cleaned in the holidays so no lunches are lost. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of St Peter and St Paul, or anywhere in Danaway, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.

What affects the quote in Danaway
We don’t publish a price list, because no two systems are the same. The quote depends on:
- Parking and loading at the site
- How big the system is
- How many systems or sites are involved
- Site rules, permits and inductions
Several systems or sites on one quote can make for a more efficient booking. Mention every system or site you need covered and we’ll price it together.
What we need to know
To speed up the quote, send us:
- When the site is open and when it’s quiet
- How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
- Where the site is and what kind of site it is
- Wide photos of the system and the area around it
Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before work begins.
