Kitchen extract cleaning across Cripp's Corner

Kitchen extract cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Cripp's Corner

Not sure when the extract was last cleaned, or by whom? Just phone us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email with photos of the canopy and filters, and we will come back with a fixed price for the work in Cripp's Corner, typically within one working day. We’re often asked to deal with an inspection that picked up a dirty extract and a kitchen taken over without any extract records, across plenums and filters, canopies and hoods and extract fans. Kitchens in Cripp's Corner book us for TR19 cleaning for three reasons: the insurer asked, the EHO asked, or the canopy is dripping. We handle the clean and the paperwork in one visit.

A kitchen running fryers and chargrills all day builds up grease much faster than one that mostly steams and boils, so we look at the menu as well as the opening hours when we suggest the next date.

For a kitchen in or near Cripp's Corner, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean itself is the same full TR19® job as in any town: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.

Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a dated report with pictures of the work, plus a certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal when the work is a TR19® Grease clean. It shows what was done and what, if anything, couldn’t be reached.

Questions from Cripp's Corner

Who is the fire and rescue service for Cripp's Corner?

That’s East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service. If a fire safety officer visits a commercial kitchen, they may ask about the fire risk assessment and how the extract is kept clean.

Can you get to a site in Cripp's Corner?

Yes. Cripp's Corner is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Why do insurers care about extract cleaning?

Because a dirty extract can spread a fire through a building. Many insurers require TR19 cleaning, and may refuse or reduce a claim without proof, so keep every certificate.

How much does kitchen extract cleaning cost in Cripp's Corner?

Every site is different, so each gets its own fixed quote. For a quote, ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and tell us about the site and its opening hours.

Are you accredited for kitchen extract cleaning?

We are members of Vent Hygiene Elite, the scheme run by BESCA, and we clean to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

What types of premises do you cover?

All kinds of commercial and public premises: from restaurants, pubs and hotels to schools, hospitals, care homes, offices, shops and food production sites. We fit the work around how the site operates.

What does a TR19 kitchen extract clean include?

Everything from canopy to discharge: canopy inside and out, plenum, grease filters, ductwork, risers, extract fan and discharge, plus attenuators where fitted. Any part without access is noted.

Can you look after several sites?

Yes. Send the list of sites and the work at each and you will get one fixed quote.

Common problems we fix in Cripp's Corner

In Cripp's Corner, as anywhere, grease gathers where the air slows down: in long flat runs, at bends and changes of direction, and in the fan housing. Cooler sections of duct collect the most.

Most sites get in touch when they notice something like this:

  • A new tenancy or takeover with no cleaning history
  • An extract that has never been cleaned to TR19
  • Grease drips onto cooking equipment
  • Poor airflow at the canopy

Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Conquest Hospital (about 5.6 miles south), often cook for long hours, which puts them in BESA’s heavier-use bands.

Before you book anyone

  • What hours they’ll be on site
  • Their accreditations, such as BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite, CHAS or SafeContractor
  • If they look at the system before pricing
  • What records you’ll receive afterwards

How to choose an extract cleaning contractor

Why deal with it now?

Leaving the clean until the next refit does not make the grease go away. Fat that was soft and easy to remove hardens with heat and time, which is slower to clean. Regular cleans keep each visit shorter. Equipment tucked in a roof space or outbuilding near Cripp's Corner rarely gets looked at unless someone books it.

Working hours, access and the scale of the site can all change the price. We take each of them into account, and the price is fixed before we start.

Why book with us

  • Photo reports with every job
  • Full insurance on every job
  • A single point of contact for sites across the South East and London

The process

When we arrive, we check the system against the survey or the pictures you sent. If anything is different, we talk it through with the person on site before carrying on. From there, it takes as long as the system needs, from a few hours to several planned visits. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in Cripp's Corner before we set off.

  1. We survey the system first, from your pictures and details or on a site visit.
  2. We measure the grease at set points along the system, then give you a fixed price.
  3. With the kitchen closed and equipment off and cool, the area is sheeted.
  4. We clean the canopy, plenum, filters, ducts, risers, fan and discharge.
  5. Readings and photos are taken again, and you receive a TR19 certificate and photo report.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know about parking and loading
  • Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
  • Let us know about permits to work or site inductions

Keeping the system healthy

No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. A few tips:

  • Tell us when the extract starts to drip or smell
  • Don’t let the canopy gutters overflow
  • Book the next clean before the date on the report
  • Run the extract fan throughout cooking

After cleaning, we re-test the same points we measured at the start, giving you before and after readings alongside the pictures. Your TR19 certificate is then issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

Keep the fan on throughout service. Switching it off early leaves vapour to settle on the canopy and plenum, and the next clean has more to do.

How we price kitchen extract cleaning

We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:

  • The size of the system
  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • Travel, parking and unloading
  • Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids

One small site or a whole estate, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the timing. The price is fixed before any work starts.

Helping us quote

Photos let us diagnose from a distance. Try to include:

  • Wide pictures of the system and the area around it
  • Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
  • Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
  • The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to

Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from your pictures and details or, where that isn’t enough, a survey on site. Then we send a fixed price so you know the cost before we start.

What your team can do, and what needs us

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

A few tasks are always specialist work: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings need training, the right equipment and safe access. Leave those to us.
