What kitchen extract cleaning looks like in Cooper's Corner
We cover Cooper's Corner, about 41 miles from central London, as part of our work across London and the South East. The visit is fixed around your opening hours, not ours. The fire and rescue service for Cooper's Corner is East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service. In most workplaces, including commercial kitchens, it’s the fire and rescue authority that enforces the Fire Safety Order.
Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Ticehurst House Hospital (about 3.6 miles north-west), often cook for long hours, which puts them in BESA’s heavier-use bands. A hall kitchen that only cooks for events, whether near Holy Trinity or elsewhere in Cooper's Corner, still needs its extract cleaned, just less often.
Cooper's Corner is about 12 miles north of Hastings, in East Sussex. Kitchen extract cleaning in Cooper's Corner, done properly
The canopy over the range is only the start of a kitchen extract system. Beyond the filters run the plenum, the ducts and risers, the fan and the point where air leaves the building, and grease settles in every one of them. A TR19® Grease clean deals with the whole route, not only the parts on show. We’re often asked to deal with a system with no record of a TR19 clean and ductwork thick with old, hardened grease, on horizontal duct runs, discharge points and extract fans. Extraction cleaning, hood cleaning and TR19 duct cleaning all end up in the same place: a system that is clean inside, not just on the surface, and a certificate that proves it.
Most kitchens in Cooper's Corner fall into one of BESA’s three bands: 3-monthly for heavy use, 6-monthly for moderate use and yearly for light use, with grease readings setting the real interval.
In a small place like Cooper's Corner, kitchens are often in older or extended buildings, with long single-storey duct runs, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. We agree access and timings in advance.
Think of the report as the system’s health record: a dated account with photos of everything we did. For TR19® Grease cleans, the certificate comes through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal, ready for your insurer.

What staff can safely do
Staff cleaning does not replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.
Some jobs should never be done in-house: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease need training, the right equipment and safe access. Leave those to us.
How it works
We are used to working while the site is closed. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. On site, the work takes a few hours for a small kitchen, longer for a large system. We agree a date with you, plan the drive to Cooper's Corner and turn up when the site is quiet.
- We survey the system first, from your pictures and details or on a site visit.
- Grease readings are taken at set points and you get a fixed quote.
- Once the kitchen has closed and the equipment has cooled, we sheet and protect the area.
- The whole route is cleaned, from the canopy through the ductwork to the fan and the discharge.
- Finally the system is re-tested and photographed, and the certificate and report follow.
How to prepare
- Let us know about parking and loading
- Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
- Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
How to get a quote
To get a fixed quote, call us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line with the site type, your trading hours and a short description of the system. A few pictures and your last certificate or report help a lot. We typically come back within one working day.

When to call us in Cooper's Corner
It’s common for parts of a duct to have been missed for years. The usual reason is a lack of access panels, so nobody could get to them. Grease in those sections keeps building out of sight.
Common reasons sites call us include:
- An extract that no longer clears the smoke
- Extraction mentioned at an environmental health visit
- A new tenancy or takeover with no cleaning history
- Grease dripping from the canopy or filters
Term dates shape school work: for a school like Hurst Green Church of England Primary School and Nursery, an extract clean fits neatly into a half-term or summer break.
Before you book anyone

- What’s included in the scope, part by part
- How they set the interval to the next visit
- Whether a written report and pictures are included
Part by part
Canopy and plenum
Behind the grease filters sits the plenum, which daily cleaning never reaches. We take the filters out and clean the plenum and housing thoroughly.
Grease filters
Baffle filters are cleaned as part of every TR19 clean, and put back so they seat correctly. Damaged ones are noted on the report.
Managing agents and facilities teams in Cooper's Corner
The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty to manage fire risk on the responsible person, and that can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, a facilities manager or a managing agent. With shared responsibility, good records help everyone.
We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we’re happy to quote for all of it.
Your questions about kitchen extract cleaning in Cooper's Corner
Do you work at weekends in Cooper's Corner?
Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. It means the site in Cooper's Corner keeps running as normal. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.
Do you cover smaller places like Cooper's Corner?
Yes, Cooper's Corner is part of our area, however small the site. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
How long will the clean take?
A small kitchen with a short duct can be done in a few hours, while long runs and tall risers take longer and may need more than one visit. We’ll tell you how long when we quote.
How far ahead should we book?
Earlier is better, especially for out-of-hours work. Quotes normally come back within one working day, and there’s a 24/7 line for emergencies.
Is a quote from pictures possible?
Usually, yes. Send a few wide pictures plus close-ups of panels, filters or grilles, and we normally come back within one working day. Some sites still need a visit, and we’ll say so.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes, of course. Tell us what you have and how it’s used and we will propose a schedule with a fixed quote.
What about areas you can’t get to?
They’re listed in the report, never skipped quietly. You will know exactly which parts weren’t reached and why, and we can quote to improve the access.
What is TR19?
TR19® is BESA’s specification for ventilation hygiene. Since 2019, TR19® Grease has been a standalone specification for grease in kitchen extract systems, while TR19® Air covers other supply and extract ductwork.
Between visits
Good habits slow the build-up between visits. Our tips:
- Switch the fan on before cooking starts
- Keep the TR19 certificate and photo report in the maintenance log
- Wash or exchange the filters often
- Give the canopy a daily wipe
Any section without access is marked on the report. A TR19 report should record what wasn’t cleaned as well as what was, and new access panels can be fitted so the next clean covers it.
Wipe the canopy down regularly and empty grease troughs or collection points. It will not replace a TR19 clean, but it slows what reaches the duct.

What affects the cost of kitchen extract cleaning
Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We look at:
- When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
- The size of the system
- Travel, parking and unloading
- Any permits to work or inductions
Working hours, access and the scale of the site can all change the price. Each of those is built into the quote and give you a fixed price before we start.
Asking for a quote
Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Useful things to send:
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
- The site address and the type of premises
- Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
- Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
Some systems can be priced from pictures; others need a survey. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in pictures, get a survey first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work starts.
