Grease trap cleaning in Stisted, Essex
Need grease trap cleaning in Stisted? We diagnose first, fix the price and book the work around your hours, finishing with a written report and photos.
- Drains clogged with fat
- An overdue grease trap
- A larger grease trap that needs emptying
What the work involves, part by part
Restaurant and takeaway kitchens
We time visits to avoid service so you do not lose trade.
Grease interceptors
Bigger kitchens may have a larger grease interceptor. They hold more grease and solids, but they still need regular emptying and cleaning.
How we handle grease trap cleaning in Stisted
Grease traps sit between the sinks and the drain, holding back fats, oils and grease. As the waste water cools, the grease floats and stays in the trap, and clean water flows on. Eventually it fills and needs emptying and cleaning. Typical jobs include drains that gurgle and bubble and washing-up water that won’t drain away, across inline grease traps, kitchen waste pipes and restaurants and takeaways.
Rural kitchens may drain to a septic tank or a private drain rather than straight into a public sewer, and fat getting past a grease trap can cause real trouble there.
Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a written report, dated and illustrated with photos, and for TR19® Grease cleans, a certificate issued through the BESCA VHE portal. It shows what was done and what, if anything, couldn’t be reached.

Do you need grease trap cleaning in Stisted?
Oil tipped down the drain instead of being collected fills a grease trap far faster than washing-up. Even small amounts add up.
It’s time to book a visit if you see:
- Drains clogged with fat
- A bad smell from the sinks or drains
- An inline trap or interceptor due for cleaning
- A slow-draining kitchen sink
Hall and church kitchens, near Parish Church of All Saints or anywhere around Stisted, are used by many hands, and periodic deep cleans and grease trap visits keep them in order.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?
Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, and that’s where we come in.
If your staff spot something between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that will not come clean, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We will take a look and send you a fixed quote.

Commercial kitchens in Stisted
Stisted, about 41 miles from central London, is within our usual area. The visit is fixed around your opening hours, not ours. It’s Braintree council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Stisted. Walls, floors, ceilings and equipment are all part of what they look at. A cleaning log that includes deep cleans and grease trap visits shows the work is planned.
A summer deep clean suits schools such as Stisted Church of England Primary Academy, as the kitchen can be stripped back with no lunches to serve. Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as St Michael's Hospital (about 3.3 miles west), cook for long hours, so deep cleans and grease trap work are planned around patients’ meals.

What we do, step by step
Every visit runs to the same pattern: protect the area, isolate whatever needs isolating, carry out the grease trap cleaning, tidy up and leave you the report. On site, the work takes less than an hour for many under-sink units. In a small place like Stisted, the journey is planned ahead and the visit arranged around the site’s hours.
- We find the trap and check how it’s connected.
- We ask for the sinks that drain into the trap not to be used.
- Built-up fat, oil and grease is removed from the trap.
- Every part of the trap is scraped and cleaned, including the baffles.
- Once it’s refitted, water is run through to check it drains, and we take the waste with us.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
- Move anything stored near the system
- Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
Ask for a quote
We do not publish a price list, because no two systems are the same. Instead, we look at your site first, from pictures or a survey, then send a fixed quote. To start, ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos.
Advice
Between visits
How long the results last depends on use and care. We suggest:
- Keep strainers in every sink
- Never pour used oil down the sink
- Hot water only moves grease further down
- Tell us when sinks start draining slowly
Collect waste cooking oil separately rather than pouring it down the sink and the trap will not fill as quickly. It makes a real difference.
Fat that escapes the trap hardens in the pipework. Clearing it then is a bigger job, so it’s far better to keep the trap clean.
Managing agents and facilities teams in Stisted
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, which may be the employer, owner, landlord, FM or managing agent. With shared responsibility, good records help everyone.
For anyone managing more than one site, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Each site gets its own report and pictures, so each one has its own record.
Stisted questions
Which council inspects kitchens in Stisted?

Can you work in Stisted outside opening hours?
Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. That way a site in Stisted doesn’t have to lose a day’s trading. Let us know the hours you are closed and we will book within them.
Do you take the waste away?
We take the grease and solids away with us. You are not left with anything to dispose of after the visit.
Who has the legal duty for fire safety?
It depends on the building. Under the Fire Safety Order 2005, it’s the responsible person, which can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, an FM or a managing agent.
