Common questions in Pested

Can you come to Pested after we close?

Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. The site is handed back ready to open. When you ring 0345 646 2711 or email us, mention when the site is quiet.

Is Pested within the area you cover?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Pested included. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.

How do you protect the area?

We start with protection: floor sheeting and covers over nearby surfaces and equipment. The area is left tidy, with our waste taken away.

Which accreditations do you hold?

We hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, alongside BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. The Vent Hygiene Elite scheme is run by BESCA and audited independently.

What if parts of the system can’t be reached?

They’re marked on the report. Often the fix is extra access, such as new panels in ductwork, and we can fit those.

Do I get a report after the visit?

Yes. You get a written report with photos after each visit, showing what was done, anything we couldn’t reach and when the next visit is due. Kitchen extract cleans to TR19® Grease also get a certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

How much does grease trap cleaning cost?

The price depends on the trap and the schedule. Get in touch and we will send you a fixed quote so you know the cost up front.

Can we book visits on a schedule?

Yes. We run scheduled maintenance contracts, with visits at the interval your system needs. The report from each visit recommends the next date.

Grease trap cleaning in Pested, done properly

Think of the grease trap as a filter for the kitchen’s drains. Kept clean, it does its job quietly, but neglected, it causes blockages and smells. Routine cleaning keeps it in good working order. We’re often asked to deal with an interceptor full of grease and solids and a grease trap that hasn’t been emptied in a long time, on restaurants and takeaways, school and care home kitchens and pot wash sinks.

Rural kitchens may drain to a septic tank or a private drain rather than straight into a public sewer, so keeping fat out with a working grease trap matters even more.

Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a dated report with pictures of the work, plus a certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal when the work is a TR19® Grease clean. It shows what was done and what, if anything, couldn’t be reached.

What we do, step by step

At the end of the visit, someone from your team can look over the work with us. Anything we couldn’t reach or that needs attention is pointed out there and then, and it goes on the report too. The visit takes anything from under an hour to a few hours, depending on the trap. Rural roads and tight entrances are worth telling us about before a visit to Pested.

  1. We locate the trap and check how it’s fitted.
  2. Sinks feeding the trap are taken out of use.
  3. Grease and solids are removed from the trap.
  4. We clean every part of the inside.
  5. The trap is refitted, tested with water and the waste taken away.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
  • Mention any parking or loading restrictions
  • Find the previous report, if there is one

Getting a quote

To help us quote: where the site is, what it is and its opening hours, a few photos and the last certificate or report, if there is one. Then give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or email us.

A larger unit takes more time to empty and clean and we plan the visit accordingly.

What affects the quote in Pested

Sites vary more than people expect. The main factors:

  • Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
  • What state the system is in
  • The number of sites or systems
  • Site requirements such as sign-in and permits

When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is all affect the cost. Each of those is built into the quote, and the price is fixed before work begins.

Asking for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can send:

  • Your last certificate, test record or report
  • Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
  • Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
  • The postcode and the type of business

Need a price for grease trap cleaning? Please call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form with a few details about the site. We’ll talk you through the work and give you a fixed quote before you commit to anything.

What grease trap cleaning can’t fix

Before you book, it helps to know what’s not included:

  • Grease set hard in the drain run
  • Drains that are cracked or have collapsed
  • A grease trap that’s too small for the kitchen

If you’re not sure, just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Where we work

  • Pot wash sinks
  • Inline grease traps
  • Kitchen waste pipes
  • Under-sink grease traps
  • Restaurants and takeaways
  • School and care home kitchens

What we are called out for in Pested

Waste cooking oil poured down the sink overloads the trap fast. Small amounts soon build up.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Foul odours from the grease trap
  • An overdue grease trap
  • An under-sink unit that needs regular emptying
  • An interceptor full of grease and solids

Hall kitchens near Church of St Peter or elsewhere in Pested may have older sinks and drains, so a grease trap check is worth adding to a deep clean.

What your quote should include

  • Whether VAT is included
  • Whether the whole system is included, or only the parts that are easy to reach
  • Which accreditations they hold, and whether you can check them
  • Whether a written report and photos are included

How to choose an extract cleaning contractor

Leave it or put it right?

A blocked drain can stop a kitchen in its tracks. Sinks will not empty and waste water can come back up. Cleaning the grease trap on time helps prevent it. Equipment tucked in a roof space or outbuilding near Pested rarely gets looked at unless someone books it.

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Ask for a fixed quote and we will go through it with you.
