About our grease trap cleaning in Oxshott
Smells from the sink, gurgling drains or slow drainage all point to the grease trap. We find the trap, empty it and clean it and run water through to check it drains. If you’re dealing with a grease trap that hasn’t been emptied in a long time and scheduled grease trap emptying, we can help.
In a smaller place like Oxshott, commercial kitchens are more likely to be a pub, a café, a takeaway or a school or care home kitchen. Smaller kitchens still collect grease behind equipment and in the drains.
A written report with pictures follows every visit, so there’s a dated record of the work. Kitchen extract cleaning to TR19® Grease is certificated through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

Different parts, different methods
Restaurant and takeaway kitchens
Busy kitchens with lots of washing-up fill traps fast. They often need the most frequent cleaning.
School, care home and staff kitchens
School kitchens can be cleaned in the holidays or between meal services.
Landlords, agents and facilities managers
We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we are happy to quote for all of it.
If you look after several sites, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Each site gets its own report and pictures, so each one has its own record.
What affects the cost of grease trap cleaning
Sites vary more than people expect. What affects the quote:
- Site rules, permits and inductions
- A single visit or a regular plan
- Where the site is and how we reach it
- Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
The cost depends on how big the system is, what state it’s in and access to every part of it. You get a fixed price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.
What we need to know
Many jobs can be priced from pictures and some basics. Send what you can of the following:
- A few general shots of the system
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
- The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
For a fixed quote, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and tell us the type of site, your opening hours and roughly what the system looks like. A few photos and your last certificate or report help a lot. We typically come back within one working day.
When something else is needed
We will always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what grease trap cleaning won’t do:
- A grease trap that is too small for the kitchen
- Drains that are cracked or have collapsed
- Grease set hard in the drain run
Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll tell you honestly.
What the work covers
- Kitchen waste pipes
- Restaurants and takeaways
- Pot wash sinks

Oxshott kitchens: local notes
There are about 4 cafés, restaurants and staff canteens within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Oxshott, according to the Food Standards Agency’s register. Each of them sends fat, oil and grease towards the drain, which is why grease traps need regular emptying. It’s Elmbridge council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Oxshott. Walls, floors, ceilings and equipment are all part of what they look at. A cleaning log that includes deep cleans and grease trap visits shows the work is planned.
If you run a café or takeaway near Oxshott station, a deep clean overnight means the kitchen opens as normal next morning. Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Epsom Cottage Hospital (about 2.5 miles east), cook for long hours, so deep cleans and grease trap work are planned around patients’ meals. Hall and church kitchens, near St Andrew's Church or anywhere around Oxshott, are used by many hands, and periodic deep cleans and grease trap visits keep them in order.

Why it’s worth doing now in Oxshott
A blocked drain can stop a kitchen in its tracks. Water will not drain away, and dirty water can back up. Keeping the trap clean reduces the risk. A planned visit to Oxshott fits your hours; an emergency doesn’t.
Working hours, access and the scale of the site all affect the cost. We take each of them into account and give you a fixed price before any work starts.

Looking after it afterwards
To keep the system working properly between visits:
- Never pour used oil down the sink
- Keep access to the trap clear
- Scrape plates and pans into the bin before washing up
- Tell us if your menu or hours change
Between cleans, keep food scraps out of the sink. Sink strainers help catch solids so less solid waste gets through.
If the sinks are slow or smelly, the trap may be full. Acting at this stage usually prevents a blockage down the line.
Your questions about grease trap cleaning in Oxshott
Which council inspects kitchens in Oxshott?
That’s Elmbridge council, whose environmental health officers carry out food hygiene inspections in Oxshott. Photos from a deep clean are a simple record of what was done and when.
Will you come out to Oxshott?
Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Oxshott included. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.
Do we need to stop using the sinks while you work?
Just the sinks that drain into the trap, and only while we work. Visits are booked outside your busiest hours where we can.
Do you have a 24/7 line?
Yes, any time. For anything urgent, such as a fan failure or damage after a fire, ring the 24/7 line and we’ll talk you through the next steps.
How far ahead should we book?
It depends on the time you need and how big the job is. Tell us your preferred dates when you ask for a quote, and for anything urgent, ring our 24/7 emergency line.
Which accreditations do you hold?
Our accreditations are CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, alongside BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. The Vent Hygiene Elite scheme is run by BESCA and audited independently.
Where does the waste go?
Waste is contained during the work and removed when we leave, including grease, debris and dirty water. None of it is left on site.
What paperwork should we keep on file?
The reports and certificates from each visit, plus your own logs. Insurers, fire officers and EHOs may all ask to see them, so keep them together and easy to find.
How it works
Night work is normal for us. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. On site, the work takes an hour or so for an under-sink trap, longer for a larger unit. For a site near Oxshott, the work is booked around your opening hours, evenings and weekends included.
- We start by finding the trap and checking its inlet and outlet.
- The sinks feeding the trap are kept out of use while we work.
- We take out the layer of fat, oil and grease and any solids.
- Every part of the trap is scraped and cleaned, including the baffles.
- The trap is reassembled, checked for leaks and the waste taken away.
How to prepare
- Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
- Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
- Arrange a key holder or contact on site
