Aftercare tips

Results last longer with the right care. We suggest:

  • Collect waste cooking oil separately
  • Scrape plates and pans into the bin before washing up
  • Mention any increase in cooking
  • Tell us when sinks start draining slowly

We will suggest when the trap should be cleaned again. That depends on how quickly it filled and how much the kitchen cooks.

If the sinks are slow or smelly, the trap may be full. Getting it cleaned now can stop a full blockage down the line.

Grease trap cleaning in Offington, done properly

For kitchens across Offington, grease trap cleaning fits easily around service. We empty, clean and check the trap and remove the waste. It can be booked on its own or alongside other kitchen work. We’re often asked to deal with foul odours from the grease trap and an overdue grease trap, on school and care home kitchens, under-sink grease traps and restaurants and takeaways.

For a kitchen in or near Offington, the visit is planned ahead, around opening times and the journey, and the deep clean is the same as anywhere: walls, floors, ceilings and equipment.

We have been trading since 2009, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we are fully insured.

How we price grease trap cleaning

Sites vary more than people expect. What affects the quote:

  • Any permits to work or inductions
  • Where the site is and how we reach it
  • How many systems or sites are involved
  • When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends

Leaving it longer rarely makes the work cheaper. Problems in a system tend to grow, which can make the next visit longer. If you are not sure what’s needed, ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos for straight advice and a fixed quote.

What to send for a quote

To help us quote quickly, please include:

  • The times we could work without disrupting the site
  • Your last certificate, test record or report
  • Wide pictures of the system and the area around it
  • Any access panels or hatches you can see

Every quote begins with a look at the system, either from photos and details you send or from a site visit. Then we send a fixed price so you know the cost before any work starts.

When to call us in Offington

Hot water and detergent carry grease further than you’d expect. When it cools, the grease hardens in the pipework or the drain.

What we are most often called out for:

  • Washing-up water that will not drain away
  • A routine grease trap service
  • Grease setting in the kitchen pipework
  • An under-sink trap that keeps filling up

Worthing Hospital, about 1.6 miles south-east, is the nearest hospital to Offington; healthcare kitchens can’t stop cooking, so deep cleans are worked around meal times.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Whether VAT is included
  • If the quote is a fixed price or an estimate
  • What records you will receive afterwards
  • What hours they’ll be on site

What happens if it’s left?

Some kitchens try to fix slow drains with hot water or drain cleaners. It just shifts the grease further along, where it sets again. The lasting fix starts with the trap. Systems in rural buildings are often out of sight and out of mind.

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Ask for a fixed quote and we will explain each part.

Offington questions

Who inspects food businesses in Offington?

Kitchens in Offington are inspected by Worthing council’s environmental health officers. How often a business is inspected depends on the council’s risk rating for it, so the kitchen needs to be ready at any time.

Can you come to Offington after we close?

Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. The work in Offington can fit around your hours. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.

How long will the sinks be out of use?

Most grease trap cleans take anything from under an hour to a few hours, depending on the trap, including testing. We plan the visit around your service.

What’s TR19?

BESA’s ventilation hygiene specification, with two parts that matter most here: TR19® Grease for kitchen extract systems and TR19® Air for general ventilation. It is not legislation, but it’s the standard people check against.

Do you offer emergency callouts?

Yes, 24/7. Our office is open from 8am to 6pm on weekdays, with the emergency line covering every other hour.

Is Offington in your area?

Yes. Offington is part of the area we cover, as part of our area across London and the South East.

Is TR19 a legal requirement?

No, not in itself. Insurers, fire officers and EHOs look to TR19® as the benchmark, and many insurers ask for proof of cleaning to it. The law behind it is the Fire Safety Order 2005, which applies in England and Wales.

Will you tell us when the next visit is due?

Yes. Every report includes a recommended date for the next visit, based on what we found and how the system is used.

What a clean will not put right

Grease trap cleaning cannot fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It will not put right:

  • A leaking sink waste or trap connection
  • Grease set hard in the drain run
  • Broken pipework below ground

If you’re not sure, just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we will give you a straight answer.

Where we work

  • Pot wash sinks
  • Inline grease traps
  • Restaurants and takeaways
  • Kitchen waste pipes
  • School and care home kitchens
  • Under-sink grease traps

The process

Your trading hours come first. Most visits are booked for when the area is out of use, such as evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends. Once we are in, the area is sheeted and anything that has to be off is turned off and cooled, and the job takes anything from under an hour to a few hours, depending on the trap. If the van will struggle with a lane or gateway near Offington, let us know and we’ll plan around it.

  1. We find the trap and check how it’s connected.
  2. Nothing drains into the trap while it’s open.
  3. Built-up fat, oil and grease is removed from the trap.
  4. We clean the chambers, baffles and connections.
  5. Once it’s refitted, water is run through to check it drains, and we take the waste with us.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us where we can park and unload
  • Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
  • Clear the space around the work

Advice

What staff can safely do

A few tasks are always specialist work: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings need training, the right equipment and safe access. That is our job.

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but the parts you cannot see still need a specialist at the right interval.
