Grease trap cleaning in Nuthurst: local notes
It’s Horsham council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Nuthurst. Walls, floors, ceilings and equipment are all part of what they look at. Having the dates of the last deep clean to hand saves digging for them on the day. We cover Nuthurst, about 34 miles from central London, as part of our work across London and the South East. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends, so the visit fits around the site.
For schools such as St Andrew's CofE Primary School, deep cleans and grease trap work are usually booked for the holidays. Where a church or community hall near The Parish Church of St Andrew, or anywhere in Nuthurst, has a kitchen used by volunteers, a periodic deep clean keeps it ready for the next event.

About our grease trap cleaning in Nuthurst
No two traps are quite the same. Under-sink units are small and fill quickly, while inline traps and interceptors hold more. We assess the trap and how fast it fills before suggesting how often it needs cleaning. The work covers under-sink grease traps, school and care home kitchens and inline grease traps, and common reasons people get in touch are foul odours from the grease trap and an under-sink unit that needs regular emptying.
Rural kitchens may drain to a septic tank or a private drain rather than straight into a public sewer, and fat getting past a grease trap can cause real trouble there.
It’s worth checking any contractor’s accreditations. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

When to call us in Nuthurst
A full trap cannot hold any more grease. It goes on into the drain and on towards the sewer, where it can form blockages.
These are the problems we see most often:
- An overdue grease trap
- An inline trap or interceptor due for cleaning
- A kitchen drain that smells
- A regular cleaning plan for the grease trap
Horsham Hospital, about 3.4 miles north, is the nearest hospital to Nuthurst; healthcare kitchens can’t stop cooking, so deep cleans are worked around meal times.
Questions to ask before you book
- What happens if part of the system cannot be accessed
- How they set the interval to the next visit
- What’s included in the scope, part by part
- Whether the price is fixed
Between visits
Once we’ve finished, these simple steps help:
- Scrape plates and pans into the bin before washing up
- Fit sink strainers to catch food scraps
- Don’t rely on hot water to clear grease
- Tell us when sinks start draining slowly
The sinks are ready to use as soon as we’ve finished. We run water through to check it drains before we leave.
Setting regular cleans takes the guesswork out. The interval is set to suit the trap and the kitchen.

Fixed quotes for grease trap cleaning in Nuthurst
There’s no set price list, because no two systems are the same. What we look at:
- Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
- Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
- The times the site is available
- The size of the system
Every site is different, so each one gets its own fixed quote. Size, access, the condition of the system and when we can work all make a difference.
What we need to know
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. With your enquiry, please include:
- Wide photos of the system and the area around it
- The postcode and the type of business
- How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
- When the site is open and when it’s quiet
There’s no standard price list, because no two systems are the same. We look at your system first, from photos or on a visit, and then give you a fixed quote. To start, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or email us.
What grease trap cleaning can’t fix
To be straight with you, there are a few things this work won’t fix:
- Drains that are cracked or have collapsed
- Blockages in the public sewer beyond the property
- Grease deep in the drains, which needs jetting by a drainage contractor
Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll tell you honestly.
Where we work
- Restaurants and takeaways
- Inline grease traps
- School and care home kitchens
- Kitchen waste pipes
- Under-sink grease traps
- Pot wash sinks
Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Logging matters as much as cleaning. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, alongside our reports.
If your staff spot something between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We will take a look and give you a fixed quote.
Managing agents and facilities teams in Nuthurst
We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the site, the work and the access arrangements, and we’ll send a fixed quote.
Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we are happy to quote for all of it.
Nuthurst questions
Who inspects food businesses in Nuthurst?
Food hygiene inspections in Nuthurst are carried out by Horsham council. An officer may look behind equipment and at drains, so it pays to have the deep clean booked before those areas build up.
Can you get to a site in Nuthurst?
Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Nuthurst included. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. Regular plans can run on 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycles, to suit the system and how it’s used.
Are you accredited?
CHAS, SafeContractor, ISO 9001 and BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We’re fully insured and have been trading since 2009.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. We are fully insured, and the details are available on request.
How often should a grease trap be cleaned?
It varies with the trap and the kitchen. If the sinks start to drain slowly between cleans, it’s too long and we will adjust the schedule.
Where does the grease from the trap go?
The waste leaves with us. Nothing greasy is left on site when we go.
Do you survey before quoting?
Yes. We always survey first, either from photos and details you send or on a site visit. A fixed quote follows.
What we do, step by step
We work around your opening hours, not the other way round. Most visits are booked for when the area is out of use, such as evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends. Once we are in, the area is sheeted and anything that has to be off is turned off and cooled, and the job takes an hour or so for an under-sink trap, longer for a larger unit. We agree a date with you, plan the drive to Nuthurst and turn up when the site is quiet.
- We start by finding the trap and checking its inlet and outlet.
- We ask for the sinks that drain into the trap not to be used.
- Built-up fat, oil and grease is removed from the trap.
- Every part of the trap is scraped and cleaned, including the baffles.
- We put it back together, run water through and remove the waste.
Preparing for the visit
- Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
- Mention any parking or loading restrictions

Getting a quote doesn’t take long. Send a few details and pictures, and we typically reply with a fixed quote within one working day. Where a survey is needed, we arrange a time that suits the site.
