Managing agents and facilities teams in Nuffield

Facilities teams in offices, schools and healthcare sites book us too in Nuffield and across Oxfordshire. Work can be phased by floor, building or site to keep disruption down.

When the building owner and the occupier are different, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We can quote either party, and the report can go to both.

Grease trap cleaning in Nuffield, done properly

Once a trap is full, grease passes straight through. Further down the pipe, the grease cools and hardens and the result is blocked drains and bad smells. Regular cleaning keeps it working. The work covers kitchen waste pipes, school and care home kitchens and pot wash sinks, and people most often call us about a blocked kitchen drain caused by grease and a larger grease trap that needs emptying.

Somewhere as small as Nuffield, the kitchens that need a deep clean are normally a pub, a school, a care home or a hall kitchen, wherever there is one. Wherever there is one, it needs its grease trap and hard-to-reach areas kept clean.

It’s worth checking any contractor’s accreditations. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured.

Nuffield questions

Can you come to Nuffield after we close?

Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. It means the site in Nuffield keeps running as normal. Just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email with your opening times and we’ll plan around them.

Do you work in villages like Nuffield?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Can you come out in an emergency?

Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7, for problems that cannot wait. Ring any time and tell us what’s happened.

Which sectors do you work in?

Any site with a kitchen or a ventilation system to look after, from a single café to a large school. We work with hotels, schools, care homes, offices, retail and leisure sites.

Do we lose a day’s trading?

Not usually. The area we’re working in has to be out of use while we are there, so we book a time when it would be closed anyway.

How far ahead should we book?

Earlier is better, particularly for night and weekend visits. We usually quote within one working day, and emergencies are covered by our 24/7 line.

Which accreditations do you hold?

Our accreditations are CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. Vent Hygiene Elite is run by BESCA and independently audited.

What happens if a grease trap is not cleaned?

Grease and food waste build up until the trap stops working. Slow drains, bad smells and blockages follow.

Why it’s worth doing now in Nuffield

Grease that leaves the kitchen ends up somewhere. It can build up in the drains and join fatbergs in the sewer. Keeping it in the trap, and emptying the trap, is the responsible thing to do. It’s worth booking a check, because nobody sees inside a duct day to day.

Every site is different, so we price each one individually. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all play a part.

Why book with us

  • Fully insured
  • Photo reports with every job
  • Member of BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple, and it makes the next visit easier:

  • Never pour used oil down the sink
  • Mention any increase in cooking
  • Fit sink strainers to catch food scraps
  • Do not store things on top of the trap

We take the grease and solids away. There’s no greasy waste left on site when we’re done.

If the sinks are slow or smelly, the trap may be full. Acting at this stage usually prevents a blockage down the line.

How we price grease trap cleaning

We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:

  • Working hours and out-of-hours timing
  • Travel, parking and unloading
  • Whether several sites go on one quote
  • Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids

A single site or a whole portfolio, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the timing. The price is fixed before work begins.

What to send for a quote

You don’t need the technical terms. Just send:

  • A few general shots of the system
  • Your last certificate, test record or report
  • When the site is open and when it’s quiet
  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow

To help us quote: where the site is, what it is and its opening hours, a few photos and any previous report or certificate. Then call 0345 646 2711, or email photos.

The process

Your trading hours come first. We book the visit for a time the area is closed, whether that is an evening, overnight or a weekend. When the team arrives, the work area is protected and the relevant equipment is switched off to cool, and the job takes an hour or two in most kitchens, depending on the size and condition of the trap. Rural roads and tight entrances are worth telling us about before a visit to Nuffield.

  1. A visit is booked around your service.
  2. We open the trap and look at its condition.
  3. We remove the grease layer and settled solids.
  4. We clean the baffles, inlet and outlet.
  5. The trap is closed, tested and the next clean discussed.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
  • Agree a time when the area can be out of use
  • Find the previous report, if there is one

What your team can do, and what needs us

A few tasks are always specialist work: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings call for the right kit, training and safe access. That is our job.

When your team notices a problem between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that won’t come clean, it’s best reported rather than tackled in-house. We’ll take a look and give you a fixed quote.

What we’re called out for in Nuffield

Food scraps go down the sink with the washing-up water. It settles in the trap as solids and takes up space.

Common reasons sites call us are:

  • Sinks that drain slowly
  • A regular cleaning plan for the grease trap
  • A full, neglected grease trap
  • Grease setting in the kitchen pipework

Hall kitchens near Church of the Holy Trinity or elsewhere in Nuffield may have older sinks and drains, so a grease trap check is worth adding to a deep clean.

Questions to ask before booking

  • What paperwork you get at the end
  • If the quote is a fixed price or an estimate
  • Which accreditations they hold, and whether you can check them
  • What hours they’ll be on site
