East Sussex · Grease trap cleaning
Grease trap cleaning in Isfield, East Sussex
Grease trap cleaning in Isfield from ventilation hygiene specialists trading since 2009. Out-of-hours visits and 24/7 emergency callout.
- A kitchen drain that smells
- A small trap that fills too quickly
- Drains clogged with fat
How we handle grease trap cleaning in Isfield
Grease traps sit between the sinks and the drain, holding back fats, oils and grease. As the waste water cools, the grease floats and stays in the trap, and clean water flows on. Over time, the trap fills up and has to be emptied and cleaned. If you have grease setting in the kitchen pipework and a bad smell from the sinks or drains, we can help.
In rural areas, a kitchen may drain to a private system rather than a public sewer, and fat getting past a grease trap can cause real trouble there.
For insurers and inspectors, the record counts. So every job comes with a written report and pictures, plus a TR19® certificate through the BESCA VHE portal where the work is a TR19® Grease clean.

What grease trap cleaning can’t fix
An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what this work cannot put right:
- A unit that can’t cope with the kitchen’s output
- Collapsed or damaged drains, which need a drainage contractor
- A leaking sink waste or trap connection
Not sure which it is? You can phone us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we will tell you honestly.
What the work covers

Grease trap cleaning around Isfield
According to Food Standards Agency records, there are about 3 pubs, bars and clubs in and around Isfield, up to about a mile and a half out. Wherever food is prepared there, a periodic deep clean and a clear grease trap keep things in order. About 39 miles out from central London, Isfield is part of the South East area we work across. The visit is fixed around your opening hours, not ours. Food hygiene inspections in Isfield are the job of Wealden council’s environmental health team. The state of floors, drains and hard-to-reach corners all feeds into the inspection. Photos and dates from each deep clean make a useful record.
If you cater for weddings or events at a historic house in the area (Glyndebourne is about 4.1 miles south), deep cleans can be fitted between bookings. Hall and church kitchens, near The Parish Church of St Margaret or anywhere around Isfield, are used by many hands, and periodic deep cleans and grease trap visits keep them in order. Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Uckfield Community Hospital (about 2.8 miles north-east), cook for long hours, so deep cleans and grease trap work are planned around patients’ meals.
Isfield is about 3 miles south-west of Uckfield, in East Sussex. Isfield gets the same approach as every site we work on: diagnosis first, a fixed price, out-of-hours working where needed and a written report with pictures. Across East Sussex, we cover 289 places, Isfield among them. For sites nearby, see our Brighton page, about 11 miles away.
Work in TN22 follows the same survey, fixed quote and written report as everywhere else we cover. Part by part
Inline grease traps
An inline trap sits in the pipework between the kitchen and the drain. They’re larger than under-sink traps but still fill up.
School, care home and staff kitchens
Care home and hospital kitchens need their drains working all the time. We fit visits around mealtimes.
Isfield: your questions answered
Who inspects food businesses in Isfield?
Food hygiene inspections in Isfield are carried out by Wealden council. Keep the dates of your last deep clean and grease trap visit with your food safety records, ready if an officer asks.
Can the work in Isfield be done at night or at weekends?
Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. Your customers, staff or residents in Isfield needn’t be disturbed. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.
Do we lose a day’s trading?
Not normally. Booking the work out of hours means the site can carry on as normal. Bigger sites can be done in stages so parts stay in use.
What do you do with what you remove?
We take it away when we go. While we work, it’s kept contained so the area stays clean.
Which sectors do you work in?
We work for restaurants, pubs, hotels, schools, colleges, hospitals, care homes, offices and shops, as well as food production and leisure sites.
Who is the responsible person?
That depends on who controls the premises. The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty on the responsible person, which can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, an FM or a managing agent.
Do you survey before quoting?
Yes. Photos often do the job, and larger or hidden systems get a visit.
What does a grease trap clean cost?
Trap size, type, condition and access all affect the price. Send us details or a photo and we’ll give you a fixed quote.
The process
We turn up at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool before we start, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. On site, it takes an hour or two in most kitchens, depending on the size and condition of the trap. For a village or hamlet like Isfield, tell us about narrow lanes, gates and parking when you book.
- First, we locate the grease trap and look at the pipework around it.
- We ask for the sinks that drain into the trap not to be used.
- Built-up fat, oil and grease is removed from the trap.
- Every part of the trap is scraped and cleaned, including the baffles.
- We put it back together, run water through and remove the waste.
Preparing for the visit
- Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
- Tell us where we can park and unload
- Find the previous report, if there is one
Getting a quote
Quotes are quick. Call or email with a few details and you will usually have a fixed price within one working day. If we need to see the system first, we book a survey around your hours.

Aftercare tips
How long the results last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:
- Use strainers in the sink plugholes
- Hot water only moves grease further down
- Tell us if your menu or hours change
- Tell us when sinks start draining slowly
Collect waste cooking oil separately rather than pouring it down the sink and the trap won’t fill as quickly. It makes a real difference.
Setting regular cleans takes the guesswork out. We agree the timing with you.
In-house cleaning or a specialist?
Logging matters as much as cleaning. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, alongside our reports.
Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. What they cannot safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that is where we come in.
How we price grease trap cleaning
We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:
- Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
- Where the site is and how we reach it
- Any permits to work or inductions
- How many systems or sites are involved
You won’t find a price list here, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed quote, and we will talk you through it.
What we need to know
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in touch, it helps to send:
- Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
- Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
- The site address and the type of premises
We don’t publish a price list, because no two systems are the same. Instead, we look at your site first, from pictures or a survey, then send a fixed quote. To get going, call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.
Why act early in Isfield
A blocked drain can stop a kitchen in its tracks. Sinks will not empty and waste water can come back up. Keeping the trap clean reduces the risk. Somewhere as small as Isfield, losing a kitchen or building to a fault is felt by everyone who uses it.
One small site or a whole estate, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the timing. You’ll have a fixed price before we start.
