What affects the cost of grease trap cleaning

A fixed price needs a few facts first. We look at:

  • What state the system is in
  • Working hours and out-of-hours timing
  • The scale of the work
  • A single visit or a regular plan

Putting the work off seldom saves money. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, and a neglected system can mean more work. If you’re not sure what’s needed, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form for straight advice and a fixed quote.

Helping us quote

Before you ask for a quote, gather:

  • Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
  • Any previous report or certificate

There’s no standard price list, because no two systems are the same. We look at your system first, from pictures or on a visit, and then send you a fixed quote. To get going, ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.

Grease trap cleaning in Horley, done properly

A grease trap is the kitchen drain’s first line of protection. When it’s looked after, you hardly know it’s there, but neglected, it causes blockages and smells. A regular clean keeps it healthy. If you’re dealing with an under-sink unit that needs regular emptying and washing-up water that won’t drain away, we can put it right, from school and care home kitchens, inline grease traps and under-sink grease traps onwards.

For a kitchen in or near Horley, the visit is planned ahead, around opening times and the journey, and the deep clean is the same as anywhere: walls, floors, ceilings and equipment.

Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured. On top of that, we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

Why act early in Horley

Grease that gets past the trap doesn’t disappear. It can build up in the drains and join fatbergs in the sewer. Keeping it in the trap, and emptying the trap, is the responsible thing to do. Planning a trip to Horley ahead is easier for everyone than a rushed one.

A single site or a whole portfolio, the quote is built the same way: what needs doing, how we get to it and when. The price is fixed before we start.

What you get with us

  • A written report with photos after each visit
  • A single point of contact for sites across the South East and London
  • Fixed quotes, typically within one working day
  • Out-of-hours work and a 24/7 emergency line

Grease trap cleaning around Horley

Look up Horley on the FSA’s food hygiene register and you’ll find about 3 restaurants, cafés and works canteens in Horley and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. Fat from washing up sets hard in pipes, and kitchens like these produce plenty of it. Food hygiene inspections in Horley are the job of Cherwell council’s environmental health team. Walls, floors, ceilings and equipment are all part of what they look at. Photos and dates from each deep clean make a useful record.

Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Horton General Hospital (about 3.6 miles south-east), cook for long hours, so deep cleans and grease trap work are planned around patients’ meals. If you cater for weddings or events at a historic house in the area (Upton House is about 3.2 miles west), deep cleans can be fitted between bookings.

Between visits

After the visit, a few habits help the work last:

  • Report slow or smelly sinks early
  • Hot water only moves grease further down
  • Fit sink strainers to catch food scraps
  • Book trap cleans at a set interval

You’ll get our view on how often the trap needs cleaning. That depends on how quickly it filled and how much the kitchen cooks.

Fat that escapes the trap hardens in the pipework. Once it’s there, it needs a drainage contractor to clear, so it’s far better to keep the trap clean.

Questions from Horley

Do you work in villages like Horley?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Can you come to Horley after we close?

Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. It means the site in Horley keeps running as normal. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.

How far ahead should we book?

The more notice, the better, especially for out-of-hours work. We normally quote within one working day, and there’s a 24/7 line for emergencies.

Do we lose a day’s trading?

Not normally. Booking the work out of hours means the site can carry on as normal. Larger jobs can be phased over several visits to keep things running.

Who is responsible for fire safety on the premises?

The Fire Safety Order 2005 calls them the responsible person: often the employer, owner or occupier. In shared or managed buildings, a landlord, facilities manager or managing agent can share the duty.

Can one contract cover all our sites?

Yes. We work across South East England and London, so sites at different addresses can be planned together on one programme. Each site gets its own report and pictures.

Does the law say we must follow TR19?

No. TR19® is BESA’s specification, not legislation. The legal duty comes from the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005: the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, and cleaning to TR19® is the recognised way to show grease is under control.

What do you do to protect the area?

Protection goes down first: floor sheeting and covers over nearby surfaces and equipment. We tidy up and take our waste away before we leave.

Honest limits

Some problems need a different service or another trade:

  • Blockages in the public sewer beyond the property
  • Grease set hard in the drain run
  • Leaking pipework or sink wastes, which need a plumber

Not sure which it is? You can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we will tell you honestly.

Where we work

  • Under-sink grease traps
  • Kitchen waste pipes
  • Pot wash sinks
  • Inline grease traps
  • School and care home kitchens
  • Restaurants and takeaways

How the visit works

The first job on site is protection: sheeting goes over floors and surfaces close to the work. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. The work on site takes an hour or so for an under-sink trap, longer for a larger unit, and the area is cleaned down before we leave. Seeing the system in photos first means the trip to Horley can be planned properly.

  1. First, we find the trap and look at its connections.
  2. Sinks feeding the trap are taken out of use.
  3. We empty out the fat, oil, grease and solids.
  4. The chambers and baffles are cleaned.
  5. The trap is refitted, tested with water and the waste taken away.

How to prepare

  • Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
  • Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
  • Let us know about parking and loading

How to get a quote

Quotes are quick. Call or email with a few details and you’ll usually have a fixed price within one working day. Where a survey is needed, we arrange a time that suits the site.

Advice

Part by part

Grease interceptors

Interceptors separate grease the same way, on a larger scale. Grease floats and solids sink.

School, care home and staff kitchens

Care home and hospital kitchens need their drains working all the time. We fit visits around mealtimes.

What your team can do, and what needs us

Staff cleaning and specialist work aren’t the same thing. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but they do not reach the grease that builds up further in. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but the parts you can’t see still need a specialist at the right interval.
