Grease trap cleaning in Hadley Wood, done properly

Smells from the sink, gurgling drains or slow drainage all point to the grease trap. In Hadley Wood, as everywhere we work, our team empties and cleans the trap and run water through to check it drains. The work covers inline grease traps, kitchen waste pipes and pot wash sinks, and common reasons people get in touch are drains clogged with fat and a larger grease trap that needs emptying.

Across London, many commercial kitchens are compact and run long hours, so grease collects behind equipment, on ceilings and in drains and grease traps. In Hadley Wood, deep cleans and grease trap work are normally done overnight.

Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured. On top of that, we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

What affects the cost of grease trap cleaning

There’s no set price list, because no two systems are the same. What we look at:

  • Where the site is and how we reach it
  • The scale of the work
  • The condition of the system
  • Whether we need access equipment or extra panels

What you pay reflects the actual work. That is why every job is surveyed first, and the price is agreed before any work starts.

Asking for a quote

Before you ask for a quote, gather:

  • Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
  • Problems your staff have spotted
  • Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
  • Any previous report or certificate

Photos are the quickest way to a quote: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and we can price many jobs without a visit.

What your team can do, and what needs us

Staff cleaning and specialist work aren’t the same thing. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but they don’t reach the grease that builds up further in. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

Hadley Wood questions

Does London parking affect a job in Hadley Wood?

Tell us where a van can stop near your site in Hadley Wood, and about any building rules on loading. Night visits tend to make loading easier on London streets.

Which council inspects kitchens in Hadley Wood?

In Hadley Wood, it’s Barnet council that carries out food hygiene inspections. An officer may look behind equipment and at drains, so it pays to have the deep clean booked before those areas build up.

Can you come out in an emergency?

Yes. If something urgent happens, like a fan failing or damage after a fire, call our 24/7 line and we’ll talk you through the next steps.

Where does the grease from the trap go?

The fat, oil, grease and solids we remove go with us. None of it goes back into the drains at any point.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes, of course. Send details of the systems and how they’re used, and we’ll suggest a schedule and quote for it.

What is TR19?

TR19® is BESA’s specification for ventilation hygiene. Since 2019, TR19® Grease has been a standalone specification for grease in kitchen extract systems, while TR19® Air covers other supply and extract ductwork.

Do you work with multi-site operators?

Yes. Send the list of sites and the work at each and you will get one fixed quote.

Do I get a report after the visit?

Yes. It’s your proof that the work was done: a dated report with pictures, listing the work and any areas we couldn’t reach.

Honest limits

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • A grease trap that’s too small for the kitchen
  • Collapsed or damaged drains, which need a drainage contractor
  • Plumbing leaks around the sink

Not sure which it is? You can call us on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on in Hadley Wood

  • Under-sink grease traps
  • Kitchen waste pipes
  • Pot wash sinks
  • Inline grease traps
  • Restaurants and takeaways
  • School and care home kitchens

How the visit works

We turn up at the time agreed with you, often in the evening, overnight or at the weekend so the site keeps working. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool first, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. The work itself takes a short visit for a small trap and longer for an inline unit or interceptor. Expect the work in Hadley Wood to happen after your last customer leaves, not during trading.

  1. We agree a time when the sinks aren’t needed.
  2. The trap is opened up and checked.
  3. We remove the grease layer and settled solids.
  4. The inside, baffles and outlet are cleaned.
  5. The trap is closed, tested and the next clean discussed.

How to prepare

  • Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive

Advice

What happens if it’s left?

A dirty grease trap smells. Decomposing waste in the trap smells bad that can reach the kitchen and beyond. A clean trap takes the source away. Leaving it on a busy London site only adds to the work.

Working hours, access and the scale of the site all affect the cost. Each of those is built into the quote, and the price is fixed before we start.

Between visits

How long the results last depends on use and care. We suggest:

  • Let us know if the kitchen gets busier
  • Make sure the trap can be reached easily
  • Tell us when sinks start draining slowly
  • Scrape plates and pans into the bin before washing up

If we spot problems beyond the trap, such as a drain that still runs slowly, we will tell you. That may need a drainage contractor to look further.

Grease that gets past the trap sets in the drains. Clearing it then is a bigger job, so it’s far better to keep the trap clean.

Grease trap cleaning in Hadley Wood: local notes

The FSA’s food hygiene register shows about 74 cafés, restaurants and staff canteens and about 28 takeaways and sandwich shops in and around Hadley Wood, up to about a mile and a half out. Kitchens like these wash fat, oil and grease down the sink every day, and a grease trap is what stops it reaching the sewer. Kitchens in Hadley Wood get their food hygiene inspections from Barnet council. Grease behind equipment or on a ceiling is the kind of thing an inspection can note. Keeping a record of deep cleans and grease trap visits helps at inspection time. Compact London kitchens collect grease in tight corners, which an overnight deep clean can reach.

Where a church or community hall near St Paul's Church, or anywhere in Hadley Wood, has a kitchen used by volunteers, a periodic deep clean keeps it ready for the next event.
