Every pan and plate washed sends grease towards the drain. In the trap, they cool and separate and the grease layer grows.

- Grease setting in the kitchen pipework
- A bad smell from the sinks or drains
- An interceptor full of grease and solids

Grease trap cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Dean
A grease trap catches fats, oils and grease from the kitchen sinks before they reach the drain. Cooling water lets the grease rise and separate while the water carries on to the drain. Over time, the trap fills up and has to be emptied and cleaned. We are often asked to deal with gurgling drains in the kitchen and a full, neglected grease trap, on restaurants and takeaways, kitchen waste pipes and under-sink grease traps.
Rural kitchens may drain to a septic tank or a private drain rather than straight into a public sewer, and fat getting past a grease trap can cause real trouble there.
Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers
Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Every visit ends with a dated report and photos, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.
Managing agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works, and we will send a fixed quote.
Different parts, different methods
Baffles and outlets
Baffles inside the trap slow the water so grease can separate. They gather grease and debris so they’re cleaned every time.
Grease interceptors
Interceptors take longer to clean and we allow for that.
Looking after it afterwards
Good habits slow the build-up between visits. A few tips:
- Mention any increase in cooking
- Scrape plates and pans into the bin before washing up
- Collect waste cooking oil separately
- Hot water only moves grease further down
Anything we notice beyond the trap, like a slow drain downstream, is pointed out. It may need a drainage specialist to investigate.
An overfull trap lets grease pass. Cleaning it before it’s full keeps grease out of the drains and saves a call-out for a blocked drain.
How it works
Your staff do not need to do much on the day. Someone lets us in at the agreed time and shows us where everything is, and we take it from there. Afterwards, the area is left tidy and the written report follows. Somewhere like Dean, lanes, gates and parking are worth mentioning in advance.
- First, we locate the grease trap and look at the pipework around it.
- We ask for the sinks that drain into the trap not to be used.
- We take out the layer of fat, oil and grease and any solids.
- Every part of the trap is scraped and cleaned, including the baffles.
- The trap is reassembled, checked for leaks and the waste taken away.
Getting ready for the visit
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
- Find the previous report, if there is one
- Clear the space around the work

Advice
FAQs for Dean
Can you get to a site in Dean?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. A survey first, from pictures or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.
Can you come to Dean after we close?
Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. It means the site in Dean keeps running as normal. When you ring 0345 646 2711 or email us, mention when the site is quiet.
Can you give me a price for grease trap cleaning?
It depends on the type and size of the trap, its condition and access. Send us details or a photo and we will come back with a fixed price.
Are you accredited?
We are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we’re fully insured.
Do I get a report after the visit?
Yes. It’s your proof that the work was done: a written, dated record with pictures of what we did and anything we couldn’t access.
What happens to the waste?
We contain it and take it with us. We collect grease, debris and waste water as we go rather than letting it spread.
How often should a grease trap be cleaned?
It depends on the size of the trap and how busy the kitchen is. A small trap fills more quickly than a large one and the busier the kitchen, the faster it fills. We’ll suggest an interval after the first clean.
What do you do to protect the area?
We cover floors and nearby surfaces with sheeting before work begins, and waste is contained as we go. Before we leave, we tidy up and clean down.
How we price grease trap cleaning
We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
- The scale of the work
- Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
- What state the system is in
No two sites are the same, so each one gets its own fixed quote. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all play a part.
Helping us quote
What to send for a quote:
- Any access panels or hatches you can see
- Your last certificate, test record or report
- The site address and the type of premises
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
To help us quote: where the site is, what it is and its opening hours, pictures of the system and the last certificate or report, if there is one. Once you have those, call 0345 646 2711, or email photos.

What else we do in Dean
What happens if it’s left?
A dirty grease trap smells. Decomposing waste in the trap smells bad that can reach the kitchen and beyond. A clean trap takes the source away. Our emergency line runs 24/7, but a planned visit to Dean is calmer for everyone.
Putting the work off seldom saves money. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, and a neglected system can mean more work. If you’re unsure, ring 0345 646 2711 or send us an email for straight advice and a fixed quote.
