Grease trap cleaning for sites in Crowell

Common problems we fix in Crowell

If a trap is not emptied, grease passes straight through. It goes on into the drain and the sewer beyond, where it can form blockages.

Look out for any of the following:

  • A full, neglected grease trap
  • A small trap that fills too quickly
  • Scheduled grease trap emptying
  • Gurgling drains in the kitchen

Hall and church kitchens, near Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary or anywhere around Crowell, are used by many hands, and periodic deep cleans and grease trap visits keep them in order.

What your quote should include

  • Whether they’re fully insured
  • Whether they recommend a next date
  • Whether the quote is based on a survey or photos
  • Whether a written report and pictures are included

About our grease trap cleaning in Crowell

Grease trap cleaning keeps the drains running and the smells away. We empty the built-up grease and food solids and the chambers and baffles cleaned, and check the trap is working properly. We are often asked to deal with foul odours from the grease trap and an interceptor full of grease and solids, across pot wash sinks, school and care home kitchens and kitchen waste pipes.

Work in a small place like Crowell starts with agreeing a date and access.

Think of the report as the system’s health record: a dated account with pictures of everything we did. For TR19® Grease cleans, the certificate comes through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal, ready for your insurer.

When something else is needed

In fairness, there are a few things this work won’t fix:

  • Leaking pipework or sink wastes, which need a plumber
  • Grease deep in the drains, which needs jetting by a drainage contractor
  • A trap undersized for the amount of cooking

If in doubt, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we’ll say what we think.

What the work covers

  • Kitchen waste pipes
  • Inline grease traps
  • Restaurants and takeaways
  • School and care home kitchens
  • Pot wash sinks
  • Under-sink grease traps

How it works

There are three stages on the day: set-up, the treatment itself and the sign-off. Getting ready means protecting surfaces and switching off what needs to be off, and the sign-off is a written report with pictures. The middle part takes longest, and that takes an hour or two in most kitchens, depending on the size and condition of the trap. If the van will struggle with a lane or gateway near Crowell, let us know and we will plan around it.

  1. We start by finding the trap and checking its inlet and outlet.
  2. Nothing drains into the trap while it’s open.
  3. The trap is emptied of grease and food waste.
  4. The inside, baffles and pipe connections are cleaned.
  5. The trap is reassembled, checked for leaks and the waste taken away.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking or loading restrictions
  • Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
  • Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas

Ask for a quote

Here’s what helps us quote: where the site is, what it is and its opening hours, a few pictures and the last certificate or report, if there is one. Once you have those, call us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.

Crowell: your questions answered

Do you cover smaller places like Crowell?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. A survey first, from photos or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.

Can the work in Crowell be done at night or at weekends?

Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. Your customers, staff or residents in Crowell needn’t be disturbed. When you phone us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form, mention when the site is quiet.

Do you work with multi-site operators?

Yes. You deal with one contact for every site across London and the South East, with visits on a regular schedule.

How do you keep the site clean during the work?

By covering it before any work starts. The work is kept contained and clean down when we finish.

Who is the responsible person?

It depends on the building. The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty on the responsible person, which can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, an FM or a managing agent.

Which accreditations do you hold?

We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.

What problems does a full grease trap cause?

An overfull trap stops separating grease. The result is slow drains, foul odours and eventually a blockage.

Where does the grease from the trap go?

It’s removed from site when we leave. There’s nothing left for your team to deal with after we’ve finished.

Fixed quotes for grease trap cleaning in Crowell

Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We look at:

  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • Travel, parking and unloading
  • How big the system is
  • When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends

The cost depends on the size of the system, the condition it’s in and how easy it is to reach. We give you a fixed price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.

What to send for a quote

When you contact us, it’s useful to have:

  • Where the site is and what kind of site it is
  • When the site is open and when it’s quiet
  • Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it

Photos are the quickest way to a quote: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.

Visits are booked around your hours, evenings and weekends included. In Crowell, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from South Oxfordshire council. They look at the cleanliness of the whole kitchen: walls, floors, ceilings and equipment. Having the dates of the last deep clean to hand saves digging for them on the day.

For schools such as Mill Lane Community Primary School, deep cleans and grease trap work are normally booked for the holidays. If you cater for weddings or events at a historic house in the area (Adwell House is about 2.9 miles west), deep cleans can be fitted between bookings.

Part by part

Restaurant and takeaway kitchens

Busy kitchens cannot afford a blocked drain. Regular trap cleaning helps prevent it.

Grease interceptors

Interceptors separate grease the same way, on a larger scale. Grease floats and solids sink.

Looking after it afterwards

So the system stays in good health:

  • Collect waste cooking oil separately
  • Do not store things on top of the trap
  • Report slow or smelly sinks early
  • Book trap cleans at a set interval

The waste we remove leaves with us. There’s no greasy waste left on site when we’re done.

Slow sinks and a bad smell are early warnings. Getting it cleaned now can stop a full blockage down the line.

What happens if it’s left?

For a kitchen in Crowell, a regular grease trap clean is a small, planned job. Waiting for a blockage turns it into an urgent problem and typically at the worst moment. Our emergency line runs 24/7, but a planned visit to Crowell is calmer for everyone.

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Call for a fixed quote and we’ll go through it with you.
