Need grease trap cleaning in Copse Hill?

What a clean will not put right

An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what this work can’t put right:

  • Grease deep in the drains, which needs jetting by a drainage contractor
  • A unit that cannot cope with the kitchen’s output
  • Drains that are cracked or have collapsed

If in doubt, call us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll say what we think.

Parts of the system we cover

  • School and care home kitchens
  • Pot wash sinks
  • Kitchen waste pipes
  • Inline grease traps
  • Under-sink grease traps
  • Restaurants and takeaways

About our grease trap cleaning in Copse Hill

In Copse Hill, we time grease trap visits so the sinks aren’t needed. The trap is emptied, cleaned and checked, and the waste is taken away. It can be booked on its own or alongside other kitchen work. The work covers pot wash sinks, restaurants and takeaways and inline grease traps, and people most often call us about a larger grease trap that needs emptying and a regular cleaning plan for the grease trap.

Across London, council environmental health teams inspect food businesses, and the cleanliness of the whole kitchen is part of what they look at. A deep clean ahead of an inspection, or after one, is a common reason kitchens in Copse Hill get in touch.

Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured. On top of that, we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

Logging matters as much as cleaning. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, next to our reports.

A few tasks are always specialist work: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease call for the right kit, training and safe access. That’s our job.

Grease trap cleaning around Copse Hill

The FSA’s food hygiene register shows about 150 cafés, restaurants and staff canteens and about 22 takeaways within about 1.5 miles of central Copse Hill. Fat from washing up sets hard in pipes, and kitchens like these produce plenty of it. Most London kitchens cannot close in the day, so deep cleaning is typically done overnight. In Copse Hill, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Merton council. They look at the cleanliness of the whole kitchen: walls, floors, ceilings and equipment. Photos and dates from each deep clean make a useful record.

If you look after a hall kitchen near Christ Church or anywhere in Copse Hill, a deep clean between busy seasons is easier than a scramble before a big event. Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Atkinson Morley Hospital (about less than half a mile west), cook for long hours, so deep cleans and grease trap work are planned around patients’ meals. If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as Hollymount School or anywhere near Copse Hill, the holidays are the time for a deep clean or a grease trap clean.

Common questions in Copse Hill

Does London parking affect a job in Copse Hill?

We plan it in advance, so let us know about loading bays, permits and access rules at the building. Night visits tend to make loading easier on London streets.

Do you work at weekends in Copse Hill?

Yes, we can come after you close and finish before you open. The work in Copse Hill can fit around your hours. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.

What should go in our maintenance log?

Everything that shows the system is looked after: reports, certificates, pictures and your own cleaning or check logs. One maintenance log per site keeps it simple.

Which sectors do you work in?

We work for restaurants, pubs, hotels, schools, colleges, hospitals, care homes, offices and shops, plus food production and leisure sites.

Is Copse Hill in your area?

Yes. Copse Hill is part of the area we cover, within the South East and London area we cover.

How much notice should we give?

Book as early as you can for planned work, particularly if your next visit is nearly due. For emergencies, we take calls 24/7.

What accreditations do you have?

We hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. Vent Hygiene Elite is run by BESCA and independently audited.

What’s TR19?

BESA’s ventilation hygiene specification, with two parts that matter most here: TR19® Grease for kitchen extracts and TR19® Air for supply and extract systems. It isn’t law, but it’s the benchmark.

Keeping the system healthy

Here’s the after-treatment advice, short and simple:

  • Keep strainers in every sink
  • Do not rely on hot water to clear grease
  • Let us know if the kitchen gets busier
  • Tell us when sinks start draining slowly

The sinks are ready to use as soon as we have finished. Water is run through to check everything flows before we leave.

A fixed cleaning interval means the trap never gets overfull. We agree the timing with you.

How we price grease trap cleaning

Your quote is based on your site. We take into account:

  • Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
  • The scale of the work
  • Where the site is and how we reach it
  • One-off work versus a regular cycle

One small site or a whole estate, the quote is built the same way: what needs doing, how we get to it and when. You will have a fixed price before any work starts.

Helping us quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. With your enquiry, please include:

  • The times we could work without disrupting the site
  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
  • Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
  • Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings

Quotes are quick. Call or email with a few details and you’ll normally have a fixed price within one working day. If we need to see the system first, we book a survey around your hours.

What the work involves, part by part

Under-sink grease traps

An under-sink trap is out of sight. When they fill, the sink slows and starts to smell.

School, care home and staff kitchens

School kitchens can be cleaned in the holidays or after lunch service.

Why deal with it now?

In Copse Hill, as anywhere, grease trap cleaning is a short, routine visit. Waiting for a blockage turns it into an urgent problem and usually at the worst moment. Choosing the date yourself beats having a fault choose it for you.

Combining work into one visit or one programme can make for a more efficient booking. Mention every system or site you need covered and we will price it together.

What you get with us

  • CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001
  • Every visit written up, with photos
  • A single point of contact for sites across the South East and London

The process

There are three stages on the day: getting the area ready, doing the work and signing it off. Getting ready means protecting surfaces and switching off what needs to be off, and the sign-off is a written report with photos. Most of the time goes on the work itself, and that takes an hour or so for an under-sink trap, longer for a larger unit. Managed blocks in London often need contractors booked in ahead, and we’re happy to deal with the agent directly for a site in Copse Hill.

  1. We locate the trap and check how it’s fitted.
  2. Sinks feeding the trap are taken out of use.
  3. Grease and solids are removed from the trap.
  4. The chambers and baffles are cleaned.
  5. The trap is refitted, tested with water and the waste taken away.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms
  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool

Ask for a quote

For a fixed quote, call 0345 646 2711 or email us with the site type, your trading hours and a short description of the system. Photos and the last report, if you have one, make the quote quicker. We normally come back within one working day.
