Grease trap cleaning near Chenies

Your questions about grease trap cleaning in Chenies

Do you clean school kitchens in Chenies in the summer holidays?

Yes. Half-terms and the summer break are the natural time for school work. Food Standards Agency records list about 2 schools, colleges and universities with registered kitchens within about a mile and a half of Chenies. Tell us your holiday dates and we will book the visit for when the site is empty.

Is Chenies within the area you cover?

Yes, we work in villages as well as towns, and Chenies is covered. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.

What should go in our maintenance log?

Everything that shows the system is looked after: reports, certificates, pictures and your own cleaning or check logs. A single log for each site works best.

Are you accredited?

Duct Doctor is a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we’re fully insured.

What about areas you can’t get to?

We never leave them off the paperwork. The report says which parts couldn’t be reached and why, along with a quote to put access in.

Can we book visits on a schedule?

Yes. Plans on a 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycle are available, depending on what the system needs.

What happens to the waste?

It’s contained and taken away. We collect grease, debris and waste water as we go rather than letting it spread.

Do I get a report after the visit?

Yes. You get a written report with pictures after each visit, showing what was done, anything we couldn’t reach and when the next visit is due. Where the work is a TR19® Grease clean, there’s also a certificate issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

How we handle grease trap cleaning in Chenies

Grease is behind most blocked kitchen drains. Further on, grease can build into fatbergs in the sewer. A grease trap that’s emptied and cleaned regularly holds them back. If you are dealing with a blocked kitchen drain caused by grease and an overdue grease trap, we can put it right, from school and care home kitchens, restaurants and takeaways and inline grease traps onwards.

For a kitchen in or near Chenies, the visit is planned ahead, around opening times and the journey.

Good records are part of the job. You get a written report with photos after each visit, covering the work done, any areas we couldn’t access and a recommended next date. Keep it with your fire safety records so it’s ready for an insurer, fire officer or EHO.

What grease trap cleaning looks like in Chenies

The FSA’s food hygiene register shows about 10 restaurants, cafés and canteens and about 4 takeaways within about 1.5 miles of central Chenies. Kitchens like these wash fat, oil and grease down the sink every day, and a grease trap is what stops it reaching the sewer. Food hygiene inspections in Chenies are the job of Buckinghamshire council’s environmental health team. Grease behind equipment or on a ceiling is the kind of thing an inspection can note. Keeping a record of deep cleans and grease trap visits helps at inspection time.

If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Amersham Hospital about 4 miles west, deep cleans and grease trap visits are planned so meals still go out. Where a church or community hall near Church of St Michael, or anywhere in Chenies, has a kitchen used by volunteers, a periodic deep clean keeps it ready for the next event.

For landlords and multi-site operators

We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we’re happy to quote for all of it.

From a single site to a large estate, the standard is the same: a survey first, a fixed quote, the work timed around the site and a report with pictures.

Why act early in Chenies

Pouring hot water or chemicals down a slow drain is a common quick fix. It just shifts the grease further along to set somewhere harder to reach. The lasting fix starts with the trap. It’s simpler to plan the work at Chenies now than to arrange it in a hurry later.

Combining work into one visit or one programme often makes better use of the time. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at and we’ll price it together.

Why us?

  • Each visit written up, with photos
  • Accredited under CHAS and SafeContractor, with ISO 9001
  • Member of BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease
  • We diagnose before we treat

What we do, step by step

A visit follows the same order every time: protect the area, make the system safe, do the work, clear away and leave you the report. On site, the work takes an hour or so for an under-sink trap, longer for a larger unit. Visits to a village like Chenies are booked in advance, at a time that suits whoever runs the site.

  1. First, we locate the grease trap and look at the pipework around it.
  2. Nothing drains into the trap while it’s open.
  3. The trap is emptied of grease and food waste.
  4. Every part of the trap is scraped and cleaned, including the baffles.
  5. We put it back together, run water through and remove the waste.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
  • Tell us where we can park and unload
  • Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend

Ask for a quote

There’s no standard price list, because no two systems are the same. We look at your system first, from photos or on a visit, then send a fixed quote. To get going, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.

What the work involves, part by part

Under-sink grease traps

An under-sink trap is out of sight. A full one shows itself with a slow, smelly sink.

Baffles and outlets

Clean water leaves through the outlet. A blocked outlet stops the trap working.

What affects the quote in Chenies

A fixed price needs a few facts first. We look at:

  • The condition we find in the survey
  • Any permits to work or inductions
  • Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
  • Travel, parking and unloading

The cost depends on the size of the system, what state it’s in and how easy it is to reach. You get a fixed price before we start, so you know where you stand.

Helping us quote

To help us quote quickly, send us:

  • The site address and the type of premises
  • Your last certificate, test record or report
  • How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
  • When the site is open and when it’s quiet

Need a price for grease trap cleaning? Please call us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and tell us about the site. We’ll explain what we’d do and send a fixed quote before anything is booked.

Between visits

Once we have finished, these simple steps help:

  • Tell us when sinks start draining slowly
  • Hot water only moves grease further down
  • Tell us if your menu or hours change
  • Keep the grease trap on a regular cleaning schedule

Between cleans, keep food scraps out of the sink. Use strainers in the sink plugholes before they reach the trap.

If the kitchen has got busier, the trap fills faster. Shortening the cleaning interval now keeps the drains flowing.

What we’re called out for in Chenies

In Chenies, as everywhere, grease traps are easy to forget. Tucked away under the sink or below the floor, it’s often ignored until something goes wrong.

Look out for any of the following:

  • An under-sink unit that needs regular emptying
  • Drains clogged with fat
  • A kitchen drain that smells
  • An inline trap or interceptor due for cleaning

If you run event catering at a historic house or estate in the area (Chenies Manor House is about 0.2 miles south), a deep clean before or after the busy season is worth planning.
