Grease trap cleaning for sites in Boarhunt

Grease trap cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Boarhunt

In Boarhunt, we time grease trap visits so the sinks aren’t needed. The trap is emptied, cleaned and checked, and the waste is taken away. It works on its own or with a deep clean or extract clean. If you’re dealing with sinks that drain slowly and an overdue grease trap, we can put it right, from restaurants and takeaways, inline grease traps and pot wash sinks onwards.

For a kitchen in or near Boarhunt, the visit is planned ahead, around opening times and the journey, and the deep clean is the same as anywhere: walls, floors, ceilings and equipment.

We are CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we are fully insured. On top of that, we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

Your questions about grease trap cleaning in Boarhunt

Will you come out to Boarhunt?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Boarhunt included. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.

Can you work in school kitchens in Boarhunt during the holidays?

Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. Around Boarhunt, the Food Standards Agency lists about 7 schools and colleges with registered kitchens within a mile and a half or so. Booking early in the term gives the best choice of holiday dates.

What accreditations do you have?

Duct Doctor is a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we’re fully insured.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. Duct Doctor is fully insured, and we can share the details when you need them.

How much notice do you need?

Earlier is better, particularly for night and weekend visits. Quotes usually come back within one working day, and emergencies are covered by our 24/7 line.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes, every time. We diagnose before we treat: the survey tells us what the system needs and how to reach it, and the quote is based on that.

How do you keep the site clean during the work?

We cover floors and nearby surfaces with sheeting before we start, and anything we remove is contained. At the end, the area is cleaned down.

Do I get a report after the visit?

Yes, always. It’s a dated, written report with photos, plus a certificate via the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal for TR19® Grease cleans. Keep it in your maintenance log.

What we do, step by step

We work around your opening hours, not the other way round. We book the visit for a time the area is closed, whether that is an evening, overnight or a weekend. Once we’re in, the area is sheeted and anything that has to be off is turned off and cooled, and the job takes a short visit for a small trap and longer for an inline unit or interceptor. Somewhere like Boarhunt, lanes, gates and parking are worth mentioning in advance.

  1. We agree a time when the sinks aren’t needed.
  2. The trap is opened up and checked.
  3. We remove the grease layer and settled solids.
  4. The inside, baffles and outlet are cleaned.
  5. We close it up, check it drains and suggest when it needs cleaning again.

How to prepare

  • Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards

Advice

Do you need grease trap cleaning in Boarhunt?

Hot washing-up water keeps grease liquid for a while. Once it cools, it sets, often in the trap or the pipe beyond.

Clients usually contact us when they notice one of these:

  • A grease trap that hasn’t been emptied in a long time
  • A larger grease trap that needs emptying
  • Drains clogged with fat
  • A regular cleaning plan for the grease trap

Where a church or community hall near Church of St Nicholas, or anywhere in Boarhunt, has a kitchen used by volunteers, a periodic deep clean keeps it ready for the next event.

Questions to ask before you book

Part by part

Baffles and outlets

Every clean includes the baffles, inlet and outlet so the trap works as it should.

Restaurant and takeaway kitchens

Busy kitchens with lots of washing-up fill traps fast. They often need the most frequent cleaning.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the system between visits is straightforward, and it helps at the next visit:

  • Let us know if the kitchen gets busier
  • Book trap cleans at a set interval
  • Scrape plates and pans into the bin before washing up
  • Avoid pouring boiling water down to shift grease

Scrape plates into the bin before washing up. Sink strainers help catch solids before they reach the trap.

More cooking means more grease in the trap. Booking cleans more often keeps the drains flowing.

What grease trap cleaning looks like in Boarhunt

There are about 9 cafés, restaurants and staff canteens within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Boarhunt, according to the Food Standards Agency’s register. A grease trap in kitchens like these fills steadily and needs emptying before it overflows. Kitchens in Boarhunt get their food hygiene inspections from Winchester City council. They look at the cleanliness of the whole kitchen: walls, floors, ceilings and equipment. Photos and dates from each deep clean make a useful record.

If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Knowle Hospital about 2.9 miles west, deep cleans and grease trap visits are planned so meals still go out. If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as Cams Hill School or anywhere near Boarhunt, the holidays are the time for a deep clean or a grease trap clean.

For landlords and multi-site operators

We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare across Hampshire. Work can be phased by floor, building or site around the people who use them.

Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we can quote for the whole system.

How we price grease trap cleaning

Sites vary more than people expect. The main factors:

  • How big the system is
  • Where the site is and how we reach it
  • The number of sites or systems
  • Site rules, permits and inductions

What you pay depends on the size of the system, the condition it’s in and access to every part of it. We give you a fixed price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.

Asking for a quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in touch, it helps to send:

  • The postcode and the type of business
  • Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
  • Your last certificate, test record or report
  • Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels

Every quote begins with a look at the system, either from photos and details you send or from a site visit. Then we send a fixed price, before we start.

What a clean will not put right

It’s worth knowing the limits before booking:

  • Broken pipework below ground
  • Sewer problems outside the premises
  • A trap undersized for the amount of cooking

If in doubt, ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we will say what we think before you book.
