Grease filter exchange in Well, done properly
A clean set of filters is a simple, regular dose of prevention. It keeps airflow up and grease down between full cleans, and it saves your staff a greasy job. The full TR19 clean then gives the system its clean bill of health. The work covers restaurants and pubs, school and hospital kitchens and baffle filters, and the jobs we see most are a canopy running with filters missing and filters left unwashed on busy weeks.
Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, where grease settles in the flat sections. Access, parking and timings are agreed before the day.
We are CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we’re fully insured. On top of that, we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, which is where we come in.
A few tasks are always specialist work: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease need training, the right equipment and safe access. Leave those to us.
Other services in Well
Landlords, agents and facilities managers
Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Each visit produces a dated report with pictures, ready to show insurers, fire officers or EHOs.
When the building owner and the occupier are different, the lease normally sets out who maintains what. We can quote either party and send the paperwork to whoever needs it.
Part by part
Baffle filters
In a baffle filter, the air zigzags through metal baffles. Grease drops out as it does.
Canopy filter housings
We check that filters sit snugly in the housing at each visit since a gap is a route for grease.
What happens on the day
A visit follows the same order every time: sheeting and protection first, isolate whatever needs isolating, do the work, clear away and hand over the paperwork. On site, the work takes well under an hour for most canopies. Somewhere like Well, lanes, gates and parking are worth mentioning in advance.
- We record the number, size and type of your filters.
- An exchange schedule is agreed to suit your cooking.
- On each visit, we remove the greasy filters.
- Clean filters go in and we check they sit snugly.
- The dirty filters leave with us and the next visit is booked.
Getting ready for the visit
- Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
- Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
- Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system

Advice
What a clean won’t put right
We’ll always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what grease filter exchange will not do:
- Extraction problems caused by the fan rather than the filters
- A canopy that needs a proper clean
- Odours from the discharge that filters will not stop
If in doubt, ring 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What grease filter exchange looks like in Well
Well is about 40 miles from central London, well within the area we cover across London and the South East. A survey and a fixed quote come first, then the visit at a time that suits you. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service covers Well. In most workplaces, including commercial kitchens, it’s the fire and rescue authority that enforces the Fire Safety Order.
Healthcare kitchens cannot easily close, so their extracts are cleaned overnight or between meal services; the nearest hospital to Well is Fleet Community Hospital, about 5.8 miles north-east. Bursars and site managers at schools such as Lord Wandsworth College tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Lord Wandsworth College Chapel, or anywhere in Well, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.
Well is about 5 miles west of Farnham, in Hampshire. Well is one of 683 towns, villages and districts in Hampshire where we work for grease filter exchange. For sites nearby, see our Guildford page (15 miles or so).

What’s near Well
Well’s nearest station is Bentley (Hampshire) station, roughly 2.9 miles south-east of the centre. A little further out are Fleet Community Hospital (5.8 miles north-east) and Barley Pound (2.2 miles east). For a walk, there’s Holybourne Hill and Dogmersfield Lake.
How we price grease filter exchange
A fixed price needs a few facts first. We check:
- Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
- Parking and loading at the site
- One-off work versus a regular cycle
- Whether several sites go on one quote
You won’t find a price list here, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. For a fixed quote, ring 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form, and we will talk you through it.
Asking for a quote
We can often survey from pictures. Try to include:
- Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
- Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
- The site address and the type of premises
If you need grease filter exchange in Well, ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos. Tell us what kind of premises it is and when it’s open, and send photos or your last report if you can. We typically send a fixed quote within one working day.
Keeping the system healthy
Results last longer with the right care. We suggest:
- Clean the canopy surfaces regularly
- Look out for drips from the canopy
- Clear anything stored on or near the canopy
- Keep the extract on whenever the range is in use
There’s no waiting: the canopy is ready as soon as the clean set is fitted. The dirty set leaves with us to be cleaned.
Saturated filters let more grease through. Getting onto a regular exchange now keeps grease out of the plenum and ductwork between full cleans.
Well: your questions answered
Will you come out to Well?
Yes, we work in villages as well as towns, and Well is covered. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.
Can you work in Well outside opening hours?
Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. The work in Well can fit around your hours. Just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line with your opening times and we will plan around them.
Can we book visits on a schedule?
Yes, of course. Tell us what you have and how it’s used and we will propose a schedule with a fixed quote.
Do you survey before quoting?
Yes, always. We diagnose before we treat: the survey tells us what the system needs and how to reach it and the fixed quote is built on it.
Are you accredited?
Our accreditations are CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. Vent Hygiene Elite is run by BESCA and independently audited.
How far ahead should we book?
It depends on the time you need and how big the job is. Tell us your preferred dates when you ask for a quote, and for anything urgent, ring our 24/7 emergency line.
What paperwork should we keep on file?
Each report and certificate we give you, filed in the maintenance log with your in-house cleaning records. BESA advises that certificates record the date, location and technician.
Which sectors do you work in?
Commercial premises of every kind: kitchens, offices, schools, healthcare, retail, leisure and food production. Work is timed around how each site runs.
