Book grease filter exchange in Seal

Multi-site and managed buildings

Keeping records across a portfolio is half the battle. Each visit produces a dated report with photos, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.

Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We work across London and the South East, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept to a regular schedule.

How we handle grease filter exchange in Seal

Cleaning filters by hand takes staff time and is easy to put off. With a filter exchange, we bring a clean set and take the dirty one away and the canopy is refilled straight away. If you’re dealing with filter washing that keeps being missed and drips falling from the filters onto equipment, we can help, from wall canopies, school and hospital kitchens and island canopies onwards.

In a village or hamlet like Seal, the kitchens that need extract cleaning are usually a pub, a school, a care home or a hall kitchen, wherever there is one. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease, whatever the size of the place.

The report is your system’s health record: dated, with photos, and showing what was done. Grease extract cleans are also certificated to TR19® Grease through the BESCA VHE portal and sits alongside the report.

What we do, step by step

Before we leave, we walk the area with whoever is on site. We point out anything that couldn’t be reached or needs a follow-up, and the same goes into the written report. The visit takes less than an hour in most kitchens. A few pictures of the system help us make the most of a visit to a place like Seal.

  1. We count and measure the filters in every canopy.
  2. We agree a schedule that suits how much the kitchen cooks.
  3. On each visit, the dirty filters come out of the canopy.
  4. Clean, dry filters are fitted in their place, with no gaps left between them.
  5. Anything we notice, such as bent filters or a dirty plenum, is pointed out.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
  • Agree a time when the area can be out of use

FAQs for Seal

Who inspects food businesses in Seal?

Food hygiene inspections in Seal are carried out by Sevenoaks council. Have your latest TR19® certificate and photo report to hand, as an officer may ask how the extract is maintained.

Do you do school kitchen extract cleaning in Seal in the summer holidays?

Yes. The holidays are the usual time for school work. The FSA’s register shows about 15 schools and colleges with food registrations within roughly a mile and a half of Seal. Just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form with your term dates and we will plan around them.

Which accreditations do you hold?

Duct Doctor is a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.

Will I get paperwork for my records?

Yes. You get a written report with pictures after each visit, showing what was done, anything we couldn’t reach and when the next visit is due. Where the work is a TR19® Grease clean, there’s also a certificate issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

Do you deal with bent or broken filters?

Damaged filters don’t seat properly and let grease through. We point them out on the visit so they can be replaced.

Do you clean filters as well as exchanging them?

Yes, filter cleaning is available. The first step is looking at the filters you have because bent or damaged ones may need replacing.

Do you work in Seal?

Yes. Seal is part of the area we cover, within the South East and London area we cover.

Will you tell us when the next visit is due?

Yes. Every report includes a recommended date for the next visit, based on what we found and how the system is used.

Leave it or put it right?

Some kitchens in Seal wash filters themselves to save the cost of a service, and it works when it’s done well and never skipped. Where it slips, an exchange service takes the job off staff. Somewhere as small as Seal, losing a kitchen or building to a fault is felt by everyone who uses it.

Combining work into one visit or one programme can make for a more efficient booking. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at and we’ll price it together.

Different parts, different methods

School, care home and staff kitchens

Kitchens that cook for set mealtimes still load their filters though usually at a gentler pace.

Canopy filter housings

The trough or channel under the filters fills with grease. If it needs attention, we’ll tell you.

When it’s something else

We won’t sell you work that does not address the problem, so here are the limits:

  • Grease deep in the extract system
  • A noisy or failed extract fan
  • Grease behind the filters that a swap can’t remove

If in doubt, ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we will say what we think.

Aftercare tips

After the visit, a few habits help the work last:

  • Let us know if your cooking hours increase
  • Don’t let the full clean slip because filters are changed
  • Never cook with the extract switched off
  • Never leave gaps in the filter bank

If the plenum behind the filters looks greasy, we say so. It can be a sign that a full TR19® clean is due, and we can arrange it.

Saturated filters let more grease through. Getting onto a regular exchange now keeps grease out of the plenum and ductwork until the next TR19 clean.

Common problems we fix in Seal

However long the kitchen cooks each day, the filters see every minute of it. A kitchen that cooks all day loads its filters quickly so changes need to come round sooner.

These are the problems we see most often:

  • Filter washing that keeps being missed
  • Poor airflow through the filters
  • A canopy running with filters missing
  • Filters that come out of the sink still dirty

Term dates shape school work: for a school like Seal Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School, an extract clean fits neatly into a half-term or summer break.
