Sarre grease filter exchange

- Filters that come out of the sink still dirty
About our grease filter exchange in Sarre
Baffle filters and mesh filters both fill with grease. Once they’re clogged, airflow drops and the fan has to work harder. Regular exchange keeps the air moving. Common call-outs are for hand-washed filters that still look greasy and blocked baffle filters, on restaurants and pubs, school and hospital kitchens and island canopies.
In a village or hamlet like Sarre, the kitchens that need extract cleaning are typically a pub, a school, a care home or a hall kitchen, wherever there is one. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease.
A written report with photos follows each visit, so there’s a dated record of the work. Kitchen extract cleaning to TR19® Grease is certificated through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

When it’s something else
Before booking, it helps to know what’s not included:
- An extract that was undersized from the start
- A heavily greased plenum or canopy, which needs cleaning to TR19
- Greasy ducts and risers that a filter change will not reach
Not sure which it is? You can phone us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we’ll tell you honestly.
What the work covers
- Restaurants and pubs
- School and hospital kitchens
- Mesh filters
- Wall canopies
- Baffle filters
- Island canopies
What the work involves, part by part
Baffle filters
Baffle filters use overlapping metal blades that force the air to change direction. Grease drops out as it does.
Mesh filters
Grease lodges deep in the layers of a mesh filter, so a quick rinse rarely gets it clean.
Landlords, agents and facilities managers
When the building owner and the occupier are different, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We can quote either party, and the report can go to both.
If you look after several sites, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Every building has its own written report, so each one has its own record.
The process
We start by comparing what we find with the survey or your pictures. If anything is different, we talk it through with the person on site before carrying on. From there, it takes well under an hour for most canopies. In a small place like Sarre, the journey is planned ahead and the visit arranged around the site’s hours.
- First, we check the canopies and the filters in them.
- Any damaged or missing filters are noted.
- Greasy filters are swapped for clean ones.
- We check the filters are seated and the canopy is ready to use.
- We tell you if the plenum or canopy needs a clean.
Getting ready for the visit
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
- Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
Get a fixed quote
Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from your pictures and details or, where that isn’t enough, a survey on site. After that, you get a fixed price for the work, before any work starts.
Advice
Questions from Sarre
Who is the fire and rescue service for Sarre?
That is Kent Fire and Rescue Service. If a fire safety officer visits a commercial kitchen, they may ask about the fire risk assessment and how the extract is kept clean.
Do you do school kitchen extract cleaning in Sarre in the summer holidays?
Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. The FSA’s register shows about 2 schools and colleges with food registrations within roughly a mile and a half of Sarre. Tell us your holiday dates and we will book the visit for when the site is empty.
Can we skip TR19 cleans if the filters are changed regularly?
No. Filter exchange works between full cleans, not instead of them. A TR19® clean deals with the whole system, with a certificate and photo report.
How much does a filter exchange service cost?
It depends on the number and type of filters and how often they’re changed. Just call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line for a fixed quote, usually within one working day.
What’s the right interval for changing filters?
That depends on the cooking. Heavy cooking means more frequent changes than lighter ones. We agree the interval with you.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. Full insurance covers our work and have been trading since 2009.
Do you cover Sarre?
Yes. Our technicians work in Sarre, within the South East and London area we cover.
What paperwork should we keep on file?
Visit reports, certificates and your in-house cleaning logs. They’re what an insurer, fire officer or EHO may ask for, so keep them where they can be found quickly.

Keeping the system healthy
No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. Our tips:
- Tell us if a filter is bent or damaged
- Keep the extract on whenever the range is in use
- Clean the canopy surfaces regularly
- Book full TR19 cleans alongside filter changes
The next exchange is already in the diary. If the kitchen gets busier, the interval can be shortened to keep up.
If cooking has stepped up, the filter schedule should too. Adjusting the schedule now prevents a build-up behind the canopy.
What affects the cost of grease filter exchange
We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:
- A single visit or a regular plan
- The times the site is available
- Where the site is and how we reach it
- Site rules, permits and inductions
One small site or a whole estate, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the timing. The price is fixed before we start.
What to send for a quote
Many jobs can be priced from pictures and some basics. Useful things to send:
- The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
- When the site is open and when it’s quiet
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
- Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
Quotes are quick. Call or email with a few details and you will normally have a fixed price within one working day. Where a survey is needed, we arrange a time that suits the site.
What happens if it’s left?
Once filters are saturated, more grease gets past them. The ductwork then loads up faster and grease readings can rise between cleans. Our emergency line runs 24/7, but a planned visit to Sarre is calmer for everyone.
Working hours, access and the scale of the site all affect the cost. Each of those is built into the quote, and the price is fixed before we start.

Grease filter exchange in Sarre: the local picture
Sea air reaches Sarre, which sits within about 3 miles of the coast. Corrosion on the fan housing and cowl is worth a look at every clean, alongside the grease. The FSA’s food hygiene register includes about 3 pubs, bars and clubs within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Sarre. Breakfasts, bar meals and functions all put grease into the extract wherever they’re cooked. It’s Thanet council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Sarre. Extraction counts as kitchen equipment, so its condition can come up on the day. Our report lists what was cleaned and when, which is useful to have ready.
Church and community hall kitchens, near Church of Saint Nicholas or anywhere around Sarre, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other. Bursars and site managers at schools such as St Nicholas At Wade Church of England Primary School tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty. Older buildings often hide long, awkward duct runs, and if you run a kitchen at a historic venue in the area (Quex Park is about 4.1 miles north-east), access may need planning.
