Grease filter exchange across Ramsey Island

About our grease filter exchange in Ramsey Island

Think of filter exchange as routine care for the extract. Between full cleans, it keeps the airflow healthy and takes a messy task off your team. The full TR19 clean then gives the system its clean bill of health. If you are dealing with grease collecting in the filter channels and blocked baffle filters, we can help.

Somewhere as small as Ramsey Island, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Every one of them still needs its extract kept clear of grease, whatever the size of the place.

A written report with photos follows every visit, so there’s a dated record of the work. Where the work is a TR19® Grease clean, the certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

What affects the cost of grease filter exchange

The quote reflects the site in front of us. We take into account:

  • The times the site is available
  • The condition we find in the survey
  • Where the site is and how we reach it
  • How big the system is

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Call for a fixed quote and we’ll go through it with you.

What to send for a quote

A few details help us quote accurately. When you get in touch, it helps to send:

  • When the site is open and when it’s quiet
  • Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
  • The site address and the type of premises
  • Your last certificate, test record or report

We do not publish a price list, because no two systems are the same. Instead, we look at your site first, from pictures or a survey, and then send you a fixed quote. To start, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

When your team notices a problem between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We can diagnose it and quote.

A few tasks are always specialist work: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings call for the right kit, training and safe access. Leave those to us.

For landlords and multi-site operators

Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we can quote for the whole system.

Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We work across London and the South East, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept to a regular schedule.

Different parts, different methods

Mesh filters

Mesh filters are still found in many canopies. We exchange them on the same basis as baffles.

Canopy filter housings

Grease collects in the channels and drip trays below the filters. We point it out if it needs cleaning.

Why deal with it now?

When filters block, extraction suffers. Heat and fumes hang in the kitchen, and the fan works harder to pull air through. A regular exchange keeps the airflow where it should be. Systems in rural buildings are often out of sight and out of mind.

Several systems or sites on one quote often makes better use of the time. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at and we will price it together.

How the visit works

Our technicians bring everything the work needs, including protection sheets, the right tools and access kit. You only need to give us clear access and switch off what needs to be off. The visit takes anything from a few minutes to an hour or so, depending on the number of filters. A few photos of the system help us make the most of a visit to a place like Ramsey Island.

  1. We record the number, size and type of your filters.
  2. We set the interval with you.
  3. On each visit, we remove the greasy filters.
  4. A clean set is fitted and checked for gaps.
  5. We take the greasy set away and confirm the next date.

Before we arrive

  • Agree a time when the area can be out of use
  • Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need
  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system

Advice

Questions from Ramsey Island

Can you get to a site in Ramsey Island?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Ramsey Island included. A survey first, from pictures or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.

Do you work overnight in Ramsey Island?

Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. The work in Ramsey Island can fit around your hours. When you call 0345 646 2711 or send us an email, mention when the site is quiet.

Is TR19 cleaning required by law?

No. TR19® itself is not law; it’s a BESA specification. The legal duty comes from the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005: the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, and TR19® is the benchmark for showing that grease in the extract is under control.

Which sectors do you work in?

All kinds of commercial and public premises: from restaurants, pubs and hotels to schools, hospitals, care homes, offices, shops and food production sites. Work is timed around how each site runs.

Do you clean filters as well as exchanging them?

Yes, filter cleaning is available. The first step is looking at the filters you have, as damaged ones may be better replaced.

How long will you be on site?

It depends on the size of the system, but for many sites it takes a short visit, depending on how many filters the canopies hold. We’ll confirm it with the quote.

Can you set up regular visits?

Yes. Plans on a 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycle are available, to suit the system and how it’s used.

Do we lose a day’s trading?

Not usually. We need the work area to ourselves while we are on site, so we book a time when it would be closed anyway.

When it’s something else

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • An extract that was undersized from the start
  • Odours from the discharge that filters won’t stop
  • A fan that’s failing or too weak for the system

If in doubt, call 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Kitchen extracts in Ramsey Island

Sea air reaches Ramsey Island, which sits within about 1 mile of the coast. Corrosion on the fan housing and cowl is worth a look at every clean, alongside the grease. According to Food Standards Agency records, there are about 3 bars, pubs and nightclubs across Ramsey Island and its immediate surroundings (about a mile and a half). Wherever they cook, the canopy, duct and fan collect grease just as a restaurant’s do. In Ramsey Island, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Maldon council. Extraction counts as kitchen equipment, so its condition can come up on the day. Before-and-after photos from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand.

Church and community hall kitchens, near St Lawrence Church Centre or anywhere around Ramsey Island, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other. Whether the kitchen is in Ramsey Island itself or nearby, a TR19® clean covers the whole system, canopy to discharge.
