About our grease filter exchange in Crow's Green

A filter service works alongside TR19® cleaning, not instead of it. Fresh filters help limit what gets into the ductwork though vapour still carries some grease past them. That’s why the whole system still needs cleaning to TR19 at the right interval. If you’re dealing with grease left in baffles after washing and grease building up behind the canopy filters, we can help, from school and hospital kitchens, island canopies and restaurants and pubs onwards.

In a village or hamlet like Crow's Green, the kitchens that need extract cleaning are normally a pub, a school, a care home or a hall kitchen, wherever there is one. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease.

Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured. We are also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Crow's Green

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, and that can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, a facilities manager or a managing agent. Where responsibility is shared, records matter even more.

If you look after several sites, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Each site gets its own report and photos, so records stay tidy.

Common questions in Crow's Green

Is Crow's Green within the area you cover?

Yes. Crow's Green is within the area we cover across London and the South East. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.

Which fire authority looks after Crow's Green?

That is Essex County Fire and Rescue Service. It’s worth keeping your fire risk assessment, TR19® certificates and photo reports together, ready to show.

How long does grease filter exchange take?

It depends on the size of the system, but for a typical site it takes less than an hour in most kitchens. We’ll confirm it with the quote.

What types of filter do you exchange?

Both baffle filters and mesh filters are covered. At the start, we note what your canopies use so every set we bring fits.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes. For many sites, photos and a few details are enough, and larger or hidden systems get a visit.

Which accreditations do you hold?

BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. We’re fully insured and have been trading since 2009.

Will we have to stop cooking for a filter change?

Not for long, and we can time it to avoid service. Cooking shouldn’t happen with the filters out so the swap is done promptly.

What do you do with what you remove?

Anything we remove is contained as we work and taken away with us, including grease, debris and dirty water. We don’t leave it behind.

Leave it or put it right?

In Crow's Green, as everywhere, a filter service isn’t a substitute for TR19 cleaning. They do help keep the system in better shape between cleans, and that shows when the next clean comes round. Rural sites cannot always move to another kitchen or room when something fails.

You will not find a price list here, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a fixed quote, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email, and we will explain what it covers.

What we do, step by step

At the end of the visit, someone from your team can look over the work with us. We point out anything that couldn’t be reached or needs a follow-up, and it goes on the report too. All told, the work takes less than an hour in most kitchens. Photos of the system and how to reach it help us plan a visit to Crow's Green.

  1. We record the number, size and type of your filters.
  2. We set the interval with you.
  3. On each visit, we remove the greasy filters.
  4. A clean set is fitted and checked for gaps.
  5. The dirty filters leave with us and the next visit is booked.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
  • Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
  • Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids

How to get a quote

Getting a quote does not take long. Send a few details and pictures, and we usually reply with a fixed quote within one working day. If we need to see the system first, we book a survey around your hours.

Related advice

What the work involves, part by part

Mesh filters

Mesh filters use layers of metal mesh to trap grease. In a busy kitchen, mesh soon blocks, so they need changing often.

Busy restaurant and pub kitchens

High-output kitchens clog filters quickly. They often need the shortest exchange interval.

Between visits

To keep the system working properly between visits:

  • Watch for grease drips between visits
  • Keep every filter in place during service
  • Do not refit a filter that’s bent
  • Clean the canopy surfaces regularly

Nothing changes for your staff, except one less greasy job. Make sure we can reach the canopy on exchange day and let us know of any changes to opening hours.

Clean filters plus regular full cleans keep the system in good health. Setting both up on a schedule means neither slips.

When something else is needed

An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what grease filter exchange won’t do:

  • Grease behind the filters that a swap can’t remove
  • Odours from the discharge that filters won’t stop
  • Grease deep in the extract system

Not sure which it is? You can phone us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we’ll tell you honestly.

Grease filter exchange in Crow's Green: the local picture

The fire and rescue service for Crow's Green is Essex County Fire and Rescue Service. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract. About 37 miles out from central London, Crow's Green is part of the South East area we work across. Visits are booked around your hours, evenings and weekends included.

Church and community hall kitchens, near Church of St James or anywhere around Crow's Green, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other. If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Braintree Community Hospital about 3.9 miles south-east, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen.

Crow's Green is about 5 miles west of Braintree, in Essex. Staff cleaning versus specialist work

In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. That part needs specialist access and equipment.

Some jobs should never be done in-house: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings need training, the right equipment and safe access. Leave those to us.
